It's not just that. Two-way contracts won't count against the cap if the player plays in the minor. It only counts against the cap for the amount of games he plays in the NHL. I don't like either the Santanla signning or the Chouinard signning. Some of the GMs out there just seem pretty dumb. Why would you give fringe players mutti=year contracts in a cap world. It could seriously come back and bite you in the arse. Hopefully, Almo's contract won't be off the books cause I want to see the Devils suffer for their moronic signnings.

I just found out today that Clarke tried to sign Kesler from us forcing Nonis to sign Kesler for a lot more than what he's worth. I'm kind of regretting now that we didn't do the same thing to Clarke last year with Gange when they were in cap hell. Stupid Clarke screwing our cap over. Did he promise one of the NW division teams to force the Nucks to cap hell or what??? I hope some GM (hopefully the Nucks) next season will do the same thing to him.

edit - I forgot to add: I also pick the Nucks to suck this season. Even though I'm a Nucks fan, I am also a realist. Our first 15 out of 20 games or something like that is on the road. This could pretty much kill the season for any team to start that many games on the road. Breaking even 500 for all those games would be a hard enough feat. Also, they've made too many changes and the lack of chemistry is really going to hurt. Btw, the so-called aren't really that much more of an expert than the average die hard hockey fan. I made my correct predtictions about the Stanley Cup playoffs and the regular season last year than all those Stanley Cup experts. Btw, I've been following hockey since 1989.

Oh lastly, my negativety towards the Nucks is suppose to have a reverse effect. The hockey gods like to do the opposite and since I'm predicting the Nucks to suck this season, the hockey gods will not allow it to happen.

BQ, 1 way contract don't count against the cap either if the player is sent down to the minor, unless the player signed his contract after the age of 35, then that contract count against the cap no matter wat (even if the player retires in the duration of the contract).

hehe i find it funny that so many ppl picking the nucks to miss the playoff, but have the wings in the top 6. the wings have 3 legit top 6 forwards (zetterberg, datsyuk, lang) and the nucks have 4, det have a better group of dmen, but canucks have the edge in goal. and gone from last yr is the amazing leadership of yzerman and the 40 goals from shanahan. i think the wings will have to battle it out w/ a few teams for the 7/8 spot.

ps. leafs is really making it a tradition losing to the sens in their season opener eh? and wats up w/ toronto being the only team in the nhl to wear white at home?? they think they r too good for the nhl rule?

hey didn't the nhl said they were gonna ban third jerseys or something like that. read it somewhere, must me a guy on crack writing that, but really you can't ban third jerseys, that's what give teams that extra boost of revenue.

ok now i see how that contract thing works, but it's only good for ppl who qualify for restricted free agency right?

i never trust those so called hockey "prophets" they said we would not make the playoffs last year, guess what happened, they said new jersey and sharks in the finals, guess what happened, they also said that crosby would win the calder, they are so off on everything, and this time they say oilers are gonna be 12th, well i think that's better for us, we're always the underdog, so be it, we'll beat everyone in our way and this time we'll take down carolina in december by a score of like 10-0, haha if that really happened, it'd be sweet sweet revenge.

nucks really are in a deep whole after checking out their schedule but hey if they can manage to win half of those games they should be a very deep team, and add some heart in there, hey they may just be as good as we were in the playoffs, and those flames fans are pissing me off. THey have no class, they go around saying oilers sucks and flames rock. they come out of nowhere and say that, and when their team loses, they disappear, when their team didn't win the cup, they didn't even support their team in the parade, we did, there were like a couple thousand ppl at city hall supporting the team after the game7 lost. I just think that edmontonians know a lot more about hockey than those idiots down south.

i dont think the league will ban 3rd jersey, like u said its huge revenue source for teams. theres a reason y teams change jersey design so often, its to generate more money. if anything the league should be promoting more 3rd jersey.

every player is eligible to sign a 1 way or 2 way contract. as long as the team and the player both agree to it, they can sign pretty much any contract. just look at dipetro's 15 yr contract.

anyways, 2.5hrs till the nucks season opener at det. i cant wait, DROP THE PUCK ALREADY!! haha. kinda disappointed dat bourdon wont be playing tonite tho, but then again i dont wanna see the wings embarass him in his 1st game either. oh well, i'll be lookin forward to luc destroying anson carter tmw in columbus

Trizz, I live in Calgary and I see Flames jerseys everywhere. I can find lots of Iginla jerseys, but I can't get any Naslund jerseys unless I pre-order them.

Btw, Nucks beat Deadthings 3-1! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Loungo is great!

Leafs beating the Sens 6-0?????????????? Wholly crap! I guess just Chara's presence would've scared the crap out of the Leafs, but without him, the Sens are open season. I've never seen them lose this bad since their early expansion years.

    GO LEAFS GO!

Raycroft played amazing. Made every save looked easy. Tucker and Kilger played great with 2 goals a piece. Its smooth sailing from here. I wish.

What??? No, I only badmouth the Leafs and the Flames cause I hate them so much... so much!!! I think you totally misunderstood what I posted. I posted that it's hard to find my own team's jerseys cause I'm in Calgary. I only post it that cause you wrote about Flames jerseys in U of A. It had nothing to do with Flames bandwagoners or whatever. I really don't care. There is no best team in the NHL. For the last several years, the team that won the Stanley Cup were the teams that came together at the right time.

Of course I know about my own team. I've been watching them since 89. Here's the thing. We switched 14 players in the off season. It's pretty hard for any fan to know much about their team if they had that many plyaer changes. Btw, I know Kevin Beiska well enough to have more confidence in him than stupid Eric Weinrich. If Nonis / Crow didn't switch Weinrich for Beiska last season, the Nucks might've made the playoffs and the Oilers would not have had that Stanley Cup run.

Oh btw, I forgot to add in the previous post that although it's hard to find Nucks jerseys in Calgary, you'll still see about 3000 Nucks fans at the Saddledome when the Nucks are in town. That's pretty impressive considering that the Saddledome seats about 18,000.

    sry, haha my bad.

well it's funny cause b4 calgary made that long playoff run, their so called red mile was an oilers hot spot, ppl walk down the street with oiler gears all the time, until after that playoff run did the flame fans "reappear" out of nowhere that's why i see the flames fans as bandwagoners. For us oiler fans, for as long as i can remember, theres oilers gear every year in edmonton, all year long, we're a city that understands hockey and we live and breath hockey.

HAHAHA yea I heard during the Flames' 7 year absence from the playoffs sometimes during Canucks-Flames games, the Saddledome can be heard chanting "GO CANUCKS GO" AHAH thats just sad :P I mean cmon..thats Flamer's country and Canucks support is looming all over the place.

Red mile - I must admit- was pretty cool. And I laughed so hard last playoffs during Game 7 @ Calgary when the Ducks crushed them 3-0 if I remember correctly - and with 2 minutes left - half or more than half of their "fans" were already pouring out of the Dome. HAHAA!

BaiQ44 - wow you live in Cowtown? Are you an ex-Vancouverite transfered to Calgary? You like Vancouver or Calgary better? If you're an ex-Vancouverite I suggest you should move back soon :P Is the Chinese community large in Calgary? Do they have Fairchild TV there? If Im correct I remember there are quite some Canucks support in Calgary - and seems like some of them were ex-Van turned Calgarians - so Im wondering if thats the case to those Nucks support. (Not to mention over the past few years lots of Vancouverites have moved out esp. to Alberta and mostly Calgary. )

Or if not - whats the reason why? Or do people just generally cheer for teams outside of their hometowns and dont give a shit about their local hometeams. Or is it because Flames suck too bad and those people with hockey senses know Canucks are the team lol

I, for one, always supports my hometeams - so I've always imagined IF I move to say like - Calgary or Toronto - would I be supporting the Flames or Leafs. God forbid that happen though - I love this city.

Anyways BaiQ44 - if you've been a lifelong Calgarian how did you become a Nucks fan? HAHA sorry for the questionnaire but Im really curious. :P

YYYYYYESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CANUCKS WIN RED WINGS 3-1 !! keep up the good work! Stellar performance by Robertooo comin' up with the all the big saves. HIGHHHWAYY ROBBERYYYYY. I really hope the Canucks keep up and continue with the good work ethic this season and so on.

Keep p with the good work boys! And stay outta the box!

psst, i dont care where i live i'll always be a diehard nucks fan. (secondary avs fan)

i was watching the game today and got so confused. no idea whos who w/ all the new numbers and number change. i was like "why is allen playing like a pussy" (krajicek is now wearing #5), or "why is sopel throwing his weight away" (bieksa is wearing #3 now), or "why is park playing D" (fitzpatrick wearing #18), or "wheres kesler", and so on.... i think i caught on by the 3rd tho.

anyways, thots on the game. luongo was as advertise, great game, awesome glove save on zetterberg. shoulda got the shutout but overall a good start to the season. i like bulis' game, very fast, great shot, good passer. salo still look hurt, his shots weak and wide, even tho he score a goal still. det dont scare anybody anymore w/ dat line up, and hasek is just not very good today. cant wait till the BJ game, kick carter's butt.

some random thot around the league:
-6-0 leafs over sens? dang, wat happened? gerber looks worst then lalime in the hilite. sens need a major upgrade in net to win the cup this yr.
-cant believe nashville lost to chi, havlat looks awesome. 8-6, i thot vokoun is better than this. and i pick the preds to win the west too haha. oh well.
-sid the kid is off to a good start, AO didnt score today which is kinda disappointing. ruutu score for pens and jovo got an assist, so the former nucks seems to be doing well.
-philly got shutout, makes me happy. i hate clarke now, hope his team crash and burn.
-lastly, good job edm, sykora and hemsky have some chemistry! glad u guys shut the flames fans up, keep up the good work against them

the nuks did awesome against the wings, i hope they can keep up the good work and make sure the flames are under both the oil and the nuks in the playoffs. Is it just me or is calgary and toronto the most hated canadian teams by western canadians???

I thought rolie should have got the shutout, he did so great, and well when you go OFFENCE vs. DEFENCE, OFFENCE prevails, GO OILERS. calgary's so call impenetrable wall has been taken down by our big guns. It was awesome, all 9 of our top forwards and thoresen got quality scoring chances, now it's MacT's job to make sure he can split the playing time between those guys evenly and we got an awesome team offensively. Our defense looks kinda iffy, but give it some time, players like bergeron, greene and smid needs to make some mistakes and grow, it's all part of the process.

I can't belive toronto beat sens, what the hell is going on, 6-0, and 8-6 chicago over nashville??? i'm lost. is there something we missed during the off season? the nuks if they keep playing that defensive style and revolve their game around luongo and their defensive core, they're gonna be good

ffffffffffuuuuuuuucccccccccccckkkkkkkkk yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!! Canucks win CBJ 3-2 OT! Danny with 2 goals - game tier and OT winner! Leclaire was solid for his team. Luongo was awesome as hell but both goals were PP goals one of 'em being 2 man down - there was no chance but still he was good. I like the Canucks work ethic so far! I was impressed. What a comeback! Last year's team would've given up. I like this - hope the Canucks keep up this good work all season long and so on. Keep up the good work boys!

HAHAHAHA in your face Anson Carter! Heard Naslund led the team in blocked shots today - at least thats what another fan said. Sedins were awesome - I liked some of the pressure late in the 2nd period - esp. by the 3rd line. I really like Burrows-Kesler-Cooke combo the energy line

Omg guys - our ex-Canucks are also doing great in their new teams

Jovo looks like he's up for a great comeback and from what I know so far he's been solid in his performances. Good luck #55 - may the injury bug stay away from you.

Bert had an awesome game today in his Panther debut vs. Bruins ! Wish you all the best big #44! Hope you have a stellar comeback soon. He had a goal and 3 assists playing in the 2nd line with Nieuwendyk and Olesz. Keep up this kind of work and progress big guy!

Ruuuuuuuutuuuu - I'll miss the fans at the Garage chanting his name and also Auldy's. However it's now the Pens fans turn to do this. He shall be a fan favorite soon and from what I've heard so far Pens fans are really pleased and happy with the best pest of the NHL He had a goal and an assist in his first Pens game vs. the Flyers with a shitload of blocked shots. Pretty soon we'll be seeing comedic highlight reels from him. Miss him and his antics. Wish you the best of luck and success in Steeltown

Baumgartner - dont know much cept the fact that he dropped the gloves with Colby Armstrong. good luck

AULDY! - seems to be doing pretty good so far as well. After last year as our backup after Cloutier was out with a season ending injury - I already know how promised of a goaltender he is. I love this guy and wish we could've kept him but he was part of the value in the trade with Panthers to bring in Roberto. Panthers fans seem pleased with him so far and Auldy just needs more experience and should be pretty much solid and prepared to enter his prime. However sharing his duties with Belfour it may cut down on that progress. Still I love Auldy and I'll wish him the best of luck and success. Thanks for being a comforting bright spot in a very dim situation from last year. Auldy! Auldy! Auldy!

Good luck to all our ex-Canucks!

first time i've ever heard someone cheering for their team's ex players, haha but hey good spirit kiss.

That game was pretty awesome, how the canucks came back, i think they're in for a great season, hope this sort of work ethic keeps up all year long that's what they were missing all along the fire in their eyes. I can see it now, haah looks like what the oilers have when i see them come out of the dressing room whether they are winning or losing.

I hope the guy who bought out the pens move them across the border, but then again it's the pens, they're such a great team and well they're in a kinda slump for the past couple of seasons. I really have mixed feelings about the pens, are they gonna be canadian or remain in pittsburgh, i dont' know where to put my loyalties at.

well back to hw for me, haha GO OIL GO, FLAMES SUX

    YES FLAMES SUCK!

Good win by the Oils -Sykora seems to be clicking with Hemsky. Good for them.

HAHA u serious? But really I wish them the best of luck and success. Loved those guys. You have no idea how overjoyed I was when I learned that Bert is having a great time down there in Florida. Not only is he a total domination in a line with Nieuwendyk and Olesz but the fans down there seem really pleased and happy with him also. I was looking at some pictures earlier of Bert in his Panthers debut and gosh does he look happy and seems to be having a great time with his new group of boys. 4 points for #44 ! Here's hoping to an awesome comeback season like no other for him. And I miss him bad

truthfully speaking, i missed him too, haha he's such a great player in a nuks jersey. Ever since the moore incident he's just not himself anymore, it's great that he's finally got his composure back, watch for him to storm back the nhl, got bertuzzi. I was hoping we get bertuzzi cause we lost laraque, haha, we're missing some tough guys on our team, we need some grit, too much offence is not good sometimes, but hey we beat the flames and thats all that matters
