i think hodgson will definitely be better than eberle. offensively they mite get similar amount of pts, but hodgson (for some reason i have to toughest time spelling his name) is much better defensively and positionally. not to mention all the intangibles like leadership and grit. theres a reason y cody was the CHL player of the year (ahead of pheonom tavares) and was #2 in THN's prospect ranking. eberle will score well in the nhl tho, its not like hes scrub, just not cody's level in terms of overall impact.
on the other hand, im not as excited about shirokov. hes strong on his skate but slow, and his acceleration is bad. in the new nhl if u cant skate, u r most likely not gonna be productive. how many good scorers are slow? hes been dominating the prospect games but dats really no surprise, he is a couple years older than his peers (some of them are 5 yrs younger), and hes been playing in the KHL for a few seasons.
btw, i feel alot less happy about the erhoff deal, since the sharks used dat cap space on heatley. the duo of thornton/heatley is gonna be steamrolling the western conference in the regular season. the top tier teams in the west is so strong its ridiculous! any one of wings/hawks/flames/nucks/sharks/ducks can win the cup.

ps: tonites teh first tiem the nucks r on tv since may (or was it april??), so excited, even if we r playing the islanders lol. no hodgson and no tavares tho, booo!

Well, this thread's been dead again. Too bad most of us don't have time to come around and post (or just not in the mood to do it). Maybe if us Nucks and Oilers meet in the playoffs, this thread might be alive again (due to so many Nucks and Oilers fans here).

Anyway, I currently love watching the disaster that is the Toronto Maple Leafs. I can never get tired of Leafs jokes so here's a couple.

Question: What do the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common?
Answer: They both look good until they hit the ice.

When the Nucks players missed 6 out of 7 empty net shots (2 posts) in the Nucks/Leafs game, one HF poster mentioned that the empty net now officially has a better save percentage than Toskala.

Sorry guys been busy with school and life seems like a lot has happened over the last year for me. As of now I'm writing thisbfrom my touch haha. My thoughts with about 20 games into the season are my team really disappoints me. There are a number of guys I can't wait for them to get rid of. Moreau, pisani, horcoff and staios. These guys are taking up space. Since souray's injury I think our team has fallen tremendously. I think the team is souray's to lead. Other then venting I'm quite busy with my program nut there is a year left before I'm done. Plus I'm 21 so I'll be heading to vegas this Xmas how is everyone else doing?

hehe, i love dat leafs joke, after reading the question i thot i knew where it was heading, but it took a completely different route than i thot. very good joke tho, i LOL'ed.
do u still post at HF bai qi?

hey trizz, wat happened to horcorff? when he signed his contract, all the oiler fans r saying how its a steal, and hes a legit first line center. now he cant score a goal to save his life! hes still playing w/ hemsky isnt he? u do have lots of dead weights on your team, but it must be nice to see penner finally playing up to his potential. hes looking more and more like bertuzzi from 6 yrs ago.
have fun in vegas! r u gonna be there for new years eve? where ru staying?
i just came back from asia myself, been all over the place (tokyo/kyoto/beijing/bangkok/phuket/hk/macau). its been 4 days since i got back and im still jet lag haha.

Haha. I stayed at Paris I'm at the mccaran airport ready to leave vegas it was amazing best place ever. Horcoff was always a dead weight to me never thought he should be worth more than 2mil. Penned is doing really good but unfortunately hemsky is injured. Our team is really a big mess right now need to get rid of some guys who can't do crap.

    happy 2010!!
glad to hear u had fun at vegas trizz, altho its pretty tough not to, lol. did u gamble lots?

so wat do u guys think of the whole burrow-auger saga? i thot its pretty dumb for auger to say anything to burr, had he kept his mouth shut, none of this would be a big deal, it would just go down as auger making some phantom calls. but now, he forces the nhl to step in and stand up for him but looking like the bad guys.

anyways, olympics coming up! wat do u guys think of team canada? surprised dat no flames Dman made the team, and begeron over doan was kind of a shock, but i like the team anyways (how can u not w/ a lineup dat stacked?). looking forward to the canada/russia or canada/usa games. i'll be keeping an eye on the swede too since the sedins r supposed to be leading the offense there.
i got no tickets to any hockey games!!! grrrrr

I'll definitely be watching the Canada/Russia game. Nash/Crosby/Anyone else is a beast of a first line. Bit disappointed that the Canadian Juniors lost though, was a great game still.

Vegas was pretty awesome. I'm not really the gambling type so I did lots of eating shopping and site seeing. I think team Canada is not too shabby on paper we'll see how they fair on ice, remember four years ago? I think Russia looks really good will look forward to that game for sure. Man sucks doesn't it monkey that you can't get tickets and you live there.

I'm happy that Doan isn't on the team, Bergeron is much better. If you're familiar with the World Championships of the last five years, you'd get Bergeron too. I'm disappointed that Bouwmeester is not making the team though. I rather have him than stupid Pronger.

Russia's offence looks deadly but Canada is a more rounded team, we're strong in every position. On paper, Canada is still #1 but the game is played on the ice.

Anyone following the NHL lately? Kovalchuk's traded to Jersey, I hope he'll win a Stanley Cup there.

i dunno much about college hockey since i dun follow it at all, but i'll cheer for BC since cory schneider used to play there, and BC is also the initial for the province i live in go BC!!
trizz i coulda go to some hockey games if i wanna, but i just cant justify paying $250 for a pair to watch germany vs norway (or something like dat). i cant afford it rite now unfortunately, so i'll just watch it at home. its all good, just having the olympics here is great enuff already.
doan and smythe just seems like they r there all the time, like captain canada haha. im glad bergeron made it, good to c him come all the way back from dat nasty concussion to make it to team canada, always nice to hear story like dat. its probably not gonna happen, but i'd like to see bergeron line up w/ sid the kid again, they were dynamite in the world junior. but a line of nash/crosby/iginla sounds really good too, lol.
i dun want kovalchuk to win the cup this yr, cuz i think the nucks have a decent chance i like this trade alot for the devils, now they have the fire power to run and gun w/ most eastern teams, but also play great defensively and have the greatest goalie in net. should be interesting to see which of NJ/Was/Pit comes out of the east. i think which ever team make it out of the east will win the cup.
i wonder if the nucks will do anything on the deadline. plz gillis, replace wellwood already, hes such a waste of space out there

Dang. No one's posted in here in centuries it seems. Anyway, just so happy tonight. Nucks over Kings and on to round 2 now. Hopefully, the next time I post, it'll be along the words of "onto round 3" and so on. Of course, I'm just getting ahead of myself now.

Bring on the Hawks or Wings/Yotes.

I can see Detroit beating San Jose, but winning the West... Sadly, you might be right. Unless the Nucks or Hawks can dispose of one or the other in 6 games. Detroit will come out of the West. The Hawks and Nucks would most likely kill each other and be too banged up if they went the distance. Detroit is not the best of the pack. They certainly are the most experienced, but any of the 3 remaining West teams can beat them.

Only reason I said San Jose would lose to them is cause Wings are always in Sharks' players heads.

Also, what an upset. Montreal defeats Washington in 7. Washington is a great team on paper, but like Umberger said, any team in the West can beat them cause they play regular season hockey in the playoffs.

Anyway, here's hoping the Nucks go all the way and destroy any team that stands in it.
I really don't want to see a 3 peat of Wings/Pengs in the finals again!

That is what I'm praying for...I'd love to see Detroit smash them again to make up for last year...actually the Bruins aren't so bad either, although the Flyers are just beastly in the Playoffs, it's going to be hard for Boston to get through...

As for the West...fingers crossed for Wings & Hawks.

Well, my Nucks are out. Another year, another disappointment. I'm doubting if I'll ever see the Nucks win a cup in my lifetime.

Oh well. At least, there's no 3 peat of the Pengs and Wings. Looks most likely like Hawks or Sharks. I prefer one of Chicago, Boston or Philly win it just cause they haven't won it in so many years. I would say the Sharks too, but I rather see my Nucks wins one before they do.

BQ, u r still young, there r many years left yet

and congratz to the flyers, that was quite an impressive comeback. i knew krecji was important to the bruins, but i never imagine how badly their offense fell apart after him and sturm was gone. too bad, i wanted to see a boston/montreal eastern final too.

Well, I'm not that young. I remember 1994 when the Nucks almost won it all. I was a kid then and I remember the city of Vancouver going nuts. 1994 was so wild and awesome. The Nucks were one post away from tying the Rangers and then a goal away from Trevor Linden skating around MSG (with a broken nose too) hoisting a cup above him.

Today's Nucks players also can't play through squat injuries. That's why the 1994 Canucks were so special. They had heart and many of them were playing with much sever injuries than today's players in the playoffs. Linden had broken ribs or something, but he still played game 7 and still scored 2 goals.

Anyway, If Bure had scored on the penalty shot and didn't get kicked out later that game, we probably would have the Stanley Cup by now. Also, if Bettman didn't give the Rangers the extra days rest, I'm pretty sure Vancouver would've knocked off the Rangers then. Although the Rangers were the more talented team back then, the Canucks were the more durable team. Had it not been the extra day's rest, Vancouver would've stomped the Rangers in game 7.

Here is a complete video of that game. http://video.google.ca/videoplay?doc...9988063140480# That finals was one of the greatest in NHL history (followed by one of the worst the very next year thanks to the Devils' trap).

Anyway, the 94 playoffs was one of the best of all time. The Vancouver-Calgary series was unreal. I never thought in my lifetime that I would see a team choke as bad as the Flames that year. They were up 3 games to 1, then lost 3 straight games, all in OT. Of course, the Bruins this year tops that.

Also, after watching old videos of past NHL playoff games, I got really disappointed. Bettman has truly made the NHL into a very wimpy league. There used to be brawls and hits and no cheesy penalties like today.
