I thought Junxi himself even admitted that he never tried to look for or keep in contact with Enxi before he returned to America. He was really sorry and sad about that, but didn't exactly explain why. Perhaps it was because of the pact the family made about not bringing up Enxi's name again to avoid the pain.
Yeah, Enxi's family did have to move around because the bad brother kept incurring debts. What a loser. The mom and Enxi should have just secretly ditched him one day with no forwarding address.

I have three more episodes to watch in this series and frankly, I can't wait for it to be over. I'm liking Won Bin's character more and more while I think Jun Xi is an inconsistent and indecisive wuss.

I finished this series last night. *phew*

Overall, I enjoyed the first three episodes more than the rest of it combined. The family relationships and trauma caused by the accidental switch were very touching and well portrayed. Everyone did a terrific job crying. Won Bin's acting impressed me very much even though he looked kind of scary when he was either angry or really sad.

If you don't want to read my whining, please stop here.

Okay then. The ending was terrible and I didn't even shed a tear. I felt sorry that Enxi had leukemia and died, but couldn't get over Junxi's cowardice and selfishness. He chose the easy way out after making a promise to Enxi to go on living and didn't take into account the family having to now deal with TWO deaths rather than just the inevitable one. He should have had a deep understanding about the impact of suicide (or attempted suicide) on loved ones based on his experience with You Mei. He had every right to be very sad, frustrated, and maybe angry at such an injustice, but IMHO, killing himself did not prove that he loved her more than anyone else. It just proved that he was like decaffeinated coffee: WEAK. What if everyone who cared about Enxi all just decided to commit suicide as well? About the big bus that hit him: the driver kept honking and honking the horn, but why didn't he just stop the vehicle? It's not like it was a train or something. Yeesh. Well, in any case, I had little sympathy for the adult Junxi. He even managed to get an innocent driver involved in perhaps what could be considered manslaughter.

    Hi,

Right now I'm waiting for a better version of this drama to arrive, so for the meantime I have a so-so Chinese version with really bad English subs. To make matters worse some of the discs are defective so I had to miss episode 3 entirely. The part I liked so far was when JunXi was staying at his friends hotel room for a few days and EngShi called and they talked on the phone without knowing who they were REALLY talking to yet. I am referring to the phone conversation (split-screen) where EngShi is out in the pouring rain in a phonebooth conversing with JunXi. maybe it is because I love SHK's voice and I always listen to these dramas in the original Korean language version but the way she spoke to him on the phone was so sweet and kind it just floored me.

Not too crazy about Won Bin. He looks like a 16 year old teenybopper...seems too young looking for the part but maybe its just me.

I am still early on in this series so I have to ask...is Bin Won engaged to SSH's REAL sister Shin-Ae? SSH made a comment asking if BW was 'doing anything behind her back while she is away.' But it seems like BW flirts with every girl around so if he really is engaged or serious about Shin-Ae he has an odd way of showing it. That was it...I just wanted to know and understand their relationship.

Won Bin used to be romantically involved with SSH's real sister in the show. He's a playboy at the beginning, but he really changes as the serial progresses.

If it's any consolation, I laughed my way through the final episode.

Geez, what a tear jerker! Especially episodes 14 and 15 where the viewer realizes that Eun-Suh will not make it. I will never buy another sad K-drama like this. It was hard to watch a young, beautiful super nice girl have that happen to her and not be affected. I really didn't understand how someone said they "laughed" at the ending. I didn't see the humor myself.

I just wonder what the Korean viewers thought of the rotten, sad ending and if they complained to KBS. If perhaps enough viewers were upset how the story turned out perhaps it influenced future K-Dramas as to how they were written? Was there a trend after EL (done in the year 2000) to cool it on the unhappy endings in K-dramas? Or has there been plenty of sad ones since then?

    Hi goddess,

I think I liked Won Bin's performance better the 2nd time I watched the series. I didn't like him keeping the cancer news of Eun-soo from SSH though. he should have been told earlier! And I couldn't stand the Yumi character. Rememeber when she pretended she would drown in the ocean and SSH ran and 'saved' her? I wouldn't have stopped her...if she wanted to off herself so bad I wouldn't let it be on MY conscience. I think his loyalty to her was misplaced. If I had SHK crazy about me I wouldn't think twice about some weak dependent spoiled person who had no self-respect and would play games to hold on to another person. Yumi ruined the whole 2nd half of the series for me (along with the sad storyline of course )!!!

What did you like about Won Bin's performance exactly? I like when SHK stood up to him about threw water on him when he made her go through every garbage bag looking for his 'lost' watch. I just thought he was kind of pathetic when every time he went to kiss SHK she moved away, and just went back hoping eventually she would love him. Don't these characters get the point after awhile? lol!

    Hi Lady Zhuge,

Do you know her real name by any chance? I can see why Won Bin would like her...she is devastatingly beautiful and was very underused in "EL" I thought.

I believe her name is Han Chae Young, and the reason why they broke up was because they were both too busy to see each other...

This series is good up to about the first ten episodes then it get so slow, dragging, borning and the ending is so weird and stupid plus the two main lending actors SSH & SHK can't act at all ...their acting skills are so weak...they only have the look beside that is nothing....I watched thru the whole series just because of Won Bin.

this is the best tragic series i've seen . ssh has proven to me in this series he can act . and this is also where i started to have interest in korean dramas . as for SHK she lacks chemistry with her male lead SSH . she didnt seem to put it all in on the acting part . she could use some improvement but all the same i loved the actor and actress and i cried a lot . i have never in history ever recall myself crying a river especially for tv and drama's

    Because of the following:

    - dumb, predictable ending
    - non-acting from the leads
    - mushy dialogue guaranteed to make hair stand
    - repeat first three points ad nauseum

It was so bad, it was hilarious.

I actually assumed that you have watched in Chinese or English subed. Wonder how the translation was. As I recall, this drama was tear jerker, but not as extreme mushy dialogue..
