The major thing I have against Winter Sonata is that they went through three stages of transformation. In the beginning, they looked so out of place! They just don't look like high school kids!! And just when I got used to it, they changed again. The second stage was the right age but BYJ's transformation took a while to get used to. Why does he have to wear such colorful clothes?! Is it to show that he doesn't have the burden of Jun Xiang?? Anyway, I didn't like Jun Xiang's indecisiveness and concerns. And just when I got used to all the colors and decided that he's not bad looking after all, they went to stage three and changed Jun Xiang's glasses and he looked soo odd. Then the whole part about him regain his memory and not really, maybe remembered something, maybe not, argh! Either remember or don't! What I liked was the part when the main girl got drunk and went to the hotel room and he thought she was tricking him. I think the plot has potential, I just didn't like the way it turned out.

I heard it was suppose to be a tragic ending, probably making Jun Xiang die but due to public demand, they changed it. I think I might have liked it better if he died. <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">

Gee, I learn something new everyday. Thanks for the info on the screen captures. I know exactly what you mean about Zhen Yin. She was so indecisive about her love for Dong Xian that I was like going ARGHHHH! Some reasons I dislike the ending are:

1) It was not romantic enough
2) It was rushed and I didn't like the loose ends it left
3) Zhen Yin was WALKING up to meet Dong Xian. I would have liked it if she ran over and acted more emotional.

When I saw him at the front lobby, I was jumping up and down <IMG SRC="smilies/blob.gif" border="0"> and wanted to hug him myself. (this is for you BYJ <IMG SRC="smilies/hug.gif" border="0"> ). I don't know what it is about him that always makes me want to smile when I look at him. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I totally agree with you that he looks awesome in suits. Are there any scenes where he looked bad? Except for the different hair cut that took awhile for me to get use to, there's absolutely nothing wrong with him.

Hey lil-bubble, we agree on so many things. I saw parts of Winter Sonata when it aired on tv and disliked many things about the series. BYJ's hair color later on in the series was awful <IMG SRC="smilies/nono.gif" border="0"> . Plus I don't like tragic stories, but on rare occasions, I do watch them. I don't understand Chinese so I'm waiting for it to be dubbed in Viet. Even though I know the storyline and dislike certain aspects of the series, I must stay true to BYJ and watch it anyways. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Oh my goodness! I didn't even noticed his hair cut!! Must re-re-watch again! Yeah, this obsession isn't good but the way to get rid of it is to keep talking and gushing and drooling about it and eventually, back to reality..

Where he looks bad? Several actually.. but I chose to turn a blind eye. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> Anyway, at certain angles, he looked dopey. According to my mom, it's when the angle shows his right face and when it's showing the left face, there's something odd about his left eye. It goes down further than the right eye.

I actually have a complaint about his acting.. There are parts where I'm expecting to see a lot more emotion on his face but didn't so that was a little disappointing. I guess that's his character but a little more would be nice. Another part is when Dong Xian and his sister went to meet the father, he went outside and Zhen Yin went to comfort him, that part wasn't shown! I had to watch another clip to see what happened.

Yeah, I think he had 3 different cuts in the series, but not totally sure. I'm so into him right now that I can gush and drool for him all day long. It is definitely hard work, but BYJ is so worth it <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

The clip I saw was made by a fan(I think) but at the end of it, it shows what happened. http://www.hotelier2002.com/sns/vis/clips.htm - it's the one titled "family reunion". But no sound..

I'm Chinese but no worry! After Hotelier, he wanted to perfect his English so he took off and was in LA for about 3 months to learn it. So there's at least a common language. He's soo dedicated. For the part in Las Vegas, he wanted to hire someone to teach him conversational English and the director hired one for 2 hours each day but he used his own money so it would be longer than 2 hours. And he just practice and practice while everyone else is on break, he's screaming "hotel hotel". Such a perfectionist! But he said he try to take it easy now. <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">

BYJ won two awards at the 2002 KBS for Best Actor and Most Popular Actor for his performance in Winter Sonata.

And he really does need glasses. He wears contacts but was asked to wear glasses in the drama "First Love" and it became his trademark.

I read that the movie is a new version based on "Dangerous Liaisons", one of my favourite movies starring John Malkovich, Michelle Pfeiffer, Glen Close,Uma Thurman. Have you guys watched it? It's a very challenging and different type of role for Bae Yong Jun, I sincerely hope that he can portray this character successfully in a new way. John Malkovich was very good as the notorious playboy. He was such a jerk but he made me cry at the end when he said something like, "She was right in leaving me. I would rather die than to live this life without her." Well, if Bae Yong Jun plays this character, I will probably <IMG SRC="smilies/crying.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/bawling.gif" border="0"> my heart out.

Hey TKL, I've seen parts of Dangerous Liaisons, but didn't have the chance to finish it. The few scenes that I watched, I thought John Malkovich's performance was brilliant, but the storyline was a little too sad for me to continue. I thought Michelle Pfeiffer looked very pretty in the movie. Yeah, I heard Scandal will be another tragedy <IMG SRC="smilies/crying.gif" border="0"> and I don't think I can handle seeing BYJ hurt in any way. It's just too heartbreaking <IMG SRC="smilies/bawling.gif" border="0">

I often visit the hotelier2002 forum just to read up on new info, but I tend to get lost in the debates going on in the threads. I don't have the time or the energy to analyze the series and BYJ into microscopic proportions. I'm fine with the series and his brilliant performance. OMG! I just read some info on a hotelier thread that BYJ was hurt quite badly while filming the series "First Love". Needless to say, I was shocked to find out and felt so bad for him. <IMG SRC="smilies/crying.gif" border="0"> He's such a dedicated actor that he continued filming his scenes despite his many injuries.
