I haven't been able to find a pic of Ru Ping in DHTZ III yet, but here are some images of her in other settings:

I am sure I have never seen this actress before but she does look kind of mature, which is fine here since HXM is acting a mature role here as well.

Yeah, she was Shangguan Wan'er in the old Wu Zetian - boy, it's been that long already? She was also Kang Xi's palace maid in Kang Xi Di Guo with Chen Daoming, and He Shen's lover or something in the version with Wang Gang. I can't remember the name of that show.

I liked Wang Ling best ... Ning Jing was just too old and didn't seem as smart. I don't know why they're changing nearly all the main cast for such a hit show. Surely people aren't that busy to fit it into their schedules ...

Sorry for the late reply. I too feel obligated to purchase the 3rd part since I already bought the first two.

You seems like already have all the details. I like Dong Yong's portrayal of Wei Qing very much. I don't know about Hou Yong. I don't even know how he looks. Hope he can also success with the role. What about you? Do you know him?

And thanks for the pics of Ru Ping.

Hi chaule, it's okay. Thanks for the new pics. I think they've done a good job of making HXM look adequately older without making him look ridiculous. There's quite a fine line there when it comes to younger actors taking on older roles.

I'm not familiar with Hou Yong or his acting, but here are some pics of him:

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://image2.sina.com.cn/ent/d/2003-09-23/3_28-3-326-503_2003092317258.jpg')

I hope he's as good as his predecessors in the role of Wei Qing.

Oh I wasn't worry at all about Jiao Zhu looking older. As long as he's not playing a role that is 20-30 years older than his age, I'm sure he's gonna look fine. His face can looks pretty mature when he wanted to. When I first learned he was going to play a more mature role in Long Piao, I also had faith he can do it. After seeing him successfully pulled it off, I had no doubt he can pull this off too.

The funny thing is that Jiao Zhu complained about his suggestion of adding on the little mustache on his chin. He said it gave him so much more trouble. He couldn't smile or laugh at his free will. During break times, he couldn't even eat his beloved fruits for it will fall off if he does. Poor Jiao Zhu, he loves to eat fruits.

Thanks for Hou Yong's pics. He looks familiar. I think I saw him on some serials covers before. He seems like also a veteran actor. Dong Yong is about Jiao Zhu's age, am I right? While Hou Yong is definitely older. I think it's quite funny with the age progress of Wei Qing through out the three parts. In the first part, Wei Qing looks younger than Liu Che. In the second part, they both look equal in age. Then in the third part, Wei Qing looks older than Liu Che. Funny, Wei Qing grow old faster than Liu Che.

She was the maid in Kang Xi? Then does that means she was Xi Ma La Gu (if I pronounce it right)? I don't quite remember.

I don't quite understand why they change all the cast too. Keeping the original cast for the same roles was never the intention of the producers (except for Jiao Zhu of course). They said they want to use the actors with more appropriate range of age. They already said so ever since the success of the first part.

It's not that I doubt HXM's acting abilities, but sometimes the makeup or fake mustache can make an actor look awkward. I thought that when I first saw HXM's preliminary pics from Long Piao, but good thing he was able to pull the look off. HXM isn't fond of the goatee, eh? At least it isn't a full out beard.

Yep, Hou Yong is a veteran actor. His face seems to be more fit to play villains.

I think Dong Yong is older than HXM, but not by much. I haven't been able to find his exact year of birth. I liked him alot as Wei Qing even though he was pretty expressionless throughout much of DHTZ II. It made me wonder if it was just because of the character and director or if he's just like that as an actor. After having seen him in several other productions, I find that he is a decent actor who can be funny, sweet, and of course serious. Even though he's not handsome or even really good looking, he has a strong 'nan zi han qi ze' about him. It could be that he always plays stand-up characters and never a villain (that I've seen).

Haha, I was thinking the exact same thing about Wei Qing at the various stages. The same goes for Qiu Chan. The actress they have now could play HXM's older sister or maybe even aunt.

    Question

HXM is a real hunk who can make girls swoon

I've heard that he is dating Qin Lan, the girl who played Zhi Hua in Huan Zhu Ge Ge III, and that they are planning on getting married.
    Anyone heard anything about that?

    Yes, she played Suma Lagu.
I never would have thought Dong Yong is about HXM's age..he looks more mature. and the new actress playing Qui Chan, isn't that An Yi Xuan. If so, I would not think she looks older than HXM.

Oh, that was just rumors. As Jiao Zhu became more famous, rumors about him dating this person, dating that person flying all over the places. As Lady Zhuge have said, they are just friends. Jiao Zhu always have good interpersonal relationship with his colleagues.

I do agree that Dong Yong did looks more mature than Jiao Zhu, but still within the same range of age. While Hou Yong is definitely much older.

So here's the main cast that we know of:

Huang Xiao Ming as Liu Che (Han Wu Di)
Sun Hai Ying as Jiang Chong
Ru Ping as Wei Zi Fu
Wu Qian Qian as Wang Tai Hou (Liu Che's mother)
    Hou Yong as Wei Qing
    Li Fei as Qiu Chan
Ady An Yi Xuan as Qiu Chan and Huo Qu Bing's daughter Huo Qi Lian

Who else is left that may be important? The actor who plays Qiu Chan and Huo Qu Bing's son...?

Li Fei with HXM and AYX, respectively:

    Lady Zhuge,

Now I look back at your info. on the actress for Qiu Chan and I think there's a confusion here. You listed Li Fei as Qiu Chan, and then An Yi Xuan as Qiu Chan and Huo Qu Bing's daughter Huo Qi Lian. So, who's playing Qiu Chan? If it is really Li Fei playing Qiu Chan, then I agree that she looks older than Jiao Zhu. If it is AYX, then I don't think she is.

Like I said earlier, Ady An Yi Xuan is playing Qiu Chan's daughter and Li Fei is playing Qiu Chan.

It's great to read this and other threads on HXM.

I've only watched HXM in HXGG3 and DHTZ1. Yet, immediately I became his fan.
I thought he had put in a great performance portraying Liu Che in DHTZ1, and were able to make a good transition from acting as a jovial, immature boy grown into a authoritative, irascible, yet solemn at time emperor. I can't wait to see other debuts of him.

HXM looks very attractive in ancient costumes. But in real life, I don't think he has that great sense in fashion. HXM needs a fashion consultant. First, he needs a new hairdo. He also needs to stop wearing velveteen suits or sport coats in pastel colors and ditch those tight deep-V-neck t-shirts and bugle pants. I can hardly find any pix of HXM in real life doning a smart attire. Yet, from what I've read, HXM is considered the fashion "prince" in China. It's probably due to the general fashion trend and taste in PRC, because I see similar way of dressing with other red acters and actresses too. So undazzling, kiddish, and so different from the styles here in the US.

Many people said that HXM looks like Louis Koo. But somehow I don't think they resemble one another, except for the fact that they both played the part of Yang Guo (and HXM does look a bit darker while filming ROCH)

On the other hand, HXM reminds me of Steve Ma. It's probably because of the pointy nose and dimple chin.

yes, his stylishs did not do a good job, I also so not understand why they do not dressed him better. The outfits they styled him in at his officical website were terrible, not the manly kind. In that aspect, I think Hong Kong artists's stylish are better in general.
