Btw, my personal choice for Jia Bao Yu is Kenny Kwan. Ok, he's not the best actor out there, but he looks the part. If Jay Chou can do it, so can he.

Hmm so anyway, they're really going to remake Hong Lou Meng? (That's not very hard to believe, actually, so scratch the exclamation point.) But Zhang Jizhong CANNOT be directing it...after the Lu Ding Ji casting, I don't really have much faith in ZJZ's ability to pick out actors.

I actually heard somewhere that people were considering Liu Yifei for Lin Daiyu, Chen Hao for Wang Xifeng, and Zhao Wei in some role...Shi Xiangyun, that's it! However, I'd say Liu Yifei and Zhao Wei are probably too busy with school (actually, no idea whether Liu Yifei plans on going to Stanford or not, but whatever). Although I don't think Liu Yifei is fat, she's not as skinny as I imagined Lin Daiyu to be. As for Zhang Ziyi, she came to mind when i heard they were remaking Hong Lou Meng...I'm not a huge fan of her "acting", but like owbjhx, I can see the sense in casting her.

Hu Mei will be directing this remake. You may be familiar with some of her other productions which include Yong Zheng Wang Chao and Han Wu Da Di.

They encourage all interested parties 18 and over to try out because there are so many parts and you never know. The official search will begin in November of this year and end in April of next year. The serial will start filming next Fall and be broadcast after the Olympics in 2008. Planned number of episodes: 50

It would be nice to have some unknowns star in this series, but I can totally see GYY as Bao Chai and LYF as Lin Dai Yu! Ma Tian Yu looks decent as Bao Yu. The photoshop of Zhen Yu still looks too much like Sai Hua Tuo rather than BY.

Could Zhao Wei do Feng Jie? Hmm...she's not pretty enough now though I think, based on her recent pictures. However, with make-up and losing some weight, plus getting rid of that atrocious hairstyle, it could work. I can sort of see her doing it.

Shu Chang is way too healthy looking for LDY. Actually, yeah, if they get LYF to lose some weight, she could do it, although it would put me to great pain because I hate LYF but like LDY.

By the way, Lin Dai Yu has one of those really "tragic faces", so they have to get someone w/ that type of face. People like Shu Chang, Sun Li, Gao Yuan Yuan are way too happy-looking.

Daiyu die because she know that the bride is not her.
Baoyu not stay married with Bao chai, after marriage, he become a monk.

Nope. She's already sickly and melancholy to begin with. But after knowing that she wasn't the bride, she became more sad and died of sickness/sadness.
