Hi tweety, I have watched this series. I really liked it. Vincent and Chen Hao made a very cute couple. Of course you'll have to get use to a very different Vincent in this one. He is no longer the strong heroic type. He played the wife fearing scholar very well, and Chen Hao was very good as the “Lion” of the family. Vincent's got great comic timing. Some of his gestures and expressions had me rolling on the floor.

Thanks Damsel. I like Vincent with or w/o martial arts. If the storyline is good with credible acting from other cast members, I'm a happy camper.

Vincent indeed has some comic talents. I saw him in Stealing Dragon Exchanging Phoenix (I think that was the title) and love him in there. Gosh, he was such a funny king. My favorite scene involving him was when he found out he got 3rd place in the exam . Beaten by a girl...

I think you should enjoy the series then. Vincent and Chen Hao were great and all the supporting casts were convincing as well. Let me know what you think of it after you're done.

Check out the previous page. There's a list of series Vincent's been in.

Vincent should be near sighted. I've seen him reading things with the reading material very close to his face. In an interview with Vincent, the female co-star asked him whether he can see her clearly. He (jokingly) answered "I don't even know what you look like."

Yep, he plays the villian. If you want more info on the series check out the review at the below link.

I watched Tears in Heaven years ago, but still remember vastly enjoying Vincent's performance. Although he was evil, he outshone the main guy. He had charisma and presence despite committing heinous acts. I really wanted Vincent to take the lead role since the other guy was so wooden in his performance. Everytime he appeared, I felt bored out of my mind and had to use my fast forward button. A pity the roles were not reversed. But then we wouldn't get to see Vincent's versatility as an actor .

Athena and Shui Ling looked gorgeous in this series. The chemistry between Vincent and Athena was great. I so wanted them to hook up. What a shame the ending was so blah....

Yes, I completely and totally agree with you tweety! That main guy was too much of a straight arrow. I thought they'd at least find a better looking guy to be the main guy but nope.

Shui Ling looks chubby there and I didn't know it was her until somebody mentioned she was in there. Because she looked older and well meatier, not necessarily fat but she just look like a completely different person.
I just love how you Captivate My Mind

Vincent was given the choice between the two brothers. He picked the younger brother. I guess he felt the villain was a more challenging role.

Thanks for the info, Damsel. I did not know he had a choice to pick the roles. As an actor, I think he made the correct choice by taking the evil role. It’s more challenging and has more room to showcase his acting ability. Playing the good guy can be predictable and boring sometimes. If I were in his shoes, I think I might do the same thing. I really like Vincent, Shui Ling and Athena in here, but the pairing of the couples suck big time. There was zero chemistry among the couples… very disappointing. I would have been happy if he had a romantic relationship with either Shui Ling or Athena. Wishful thinking on my part since the character was responsible for their father’s death. If he had played the older brother, I think it will be a walk in the park for him. However, as a viewer, I would have enjoyed the series more .

Can’t argue with you on the main guy, Suet Seung. The poster was especially misleading as well. Vincent’s face was huge on the poster I saw at the rental store. I thought he was going to play the lead role, only to my surprise that I later found out it was the older brother. My goodness, not only was he a complete stick in his acting, he’s very plain looking. I was expecting someone to have one of the 2. Either find someone with looks or can act better.

Yeah, shui ling looked different in this series. I think it is partly due to the makeup and hair do. Her face was rounder and it was kinda hard to recognize her.

Well, according to Damsel, he's extremely nearsighted. If that is the case, of course he has to wear contact lenses during filming. Most of his series are wuxia or set in ancient China, so he can't wear glasses. Unless he already went through laser eye surgery.

So he's stated in an interview that he's extremely near-sighted? I never knew that.

Like I mean I knew that he was near-sighted but I thought that it was mild.

But with laser eye surgery, not everyone who is extremely near sighted can do it. I mean I'm extremely near-sighted and I asked my doctor about that a few years back. I remember he said that people who's cornea flap is too thin can't do it. So before you do it, you always have to get it checked first. Also for people who have a really high prescription, if you do laser eye surgery you might face certain problems after the surgery, like night blindness, seeing double objects, etc.
