I am currently watching and very much enjoying the mainland 2009 HSDS. I noticed that one of the main music/song used for Wutang is actually a chanted Hebrew prayer called the Sh'ma (or the second stanza of the Sh'ma, i.e. baruch shem k'vod malchuto l'olam v'ed). I personally like that choice and do not mind at all that the music was not Chinese or has no direct relationship to Taoism.
I was wondering:
1. If anyone knows why that choice was made? e.g. just to spice things up with more exotic music, intentionally picked a Hebrew prayer because it is old and ancient just like Taoism, just sounds cool.
2. If other people also liked that choice, and your general feelings about the soundtrack.
In case you are curious how I know this, is because I am part of a synagogue but I am ethnically Chinese.
