MISA definitely! Reasons been that it brought me to tears when watching those heart-rending scenes. I thought I was immuned to sad/tragic series these days, but I actually cry my eyes off. I'm so sick off watching series that have the usual heroine in a tragic circumstances and that's why it was so refreshing to watch series like MISA.

I know what you meant ! I actually try really hard to hold back my tears during this heartbreaking scene but in end they just flowing uncontrolable !

Braced yourself Lady Zhuge, there is another scene that will be more sadder than this.......you will definitely hate the mother after that .
    Cheers!!!!!!

I guess the choice wasn't as difficult as I thought it'd be. I found Damo to be extremely sad because I pitied all three main characters and their tragic ends and the music contributed significantly to that. MISA is very sad too, but like you've said, in a more unique and subtle way that holds its own.

I already dislike the mother a lot. She is so snobby and and full of herself and totally deserved get that hot dish thrown on her. It seems like the only reason she changed her mind about firing MH is that he shocked everyone and went crazy at that restaurant, somewhat getting revenge for what the lady did to his mother. I'm surprised Yoon doesn't have more of a complex considering his mother still sleeps with him sometimes. Their relationship is just a bit overboard, which makes me pity MH more since he's not getting any love or even acknowledgement from his birth mom.

Lady Zhuge, you're killing me! lol, I want to watch this series so bad now. And you're right (using "cool" to desribe SJS). I thoroughly enjoyed Sweet Proposal despite how he wasn't the main character. That series had Son Ye Jin in it (from Summer Scent). What I originally intended to do was see how their love chemistry develop. To my surprise, they played as siblings. I was pissed, but then I got over it. Overall, that series was just like it's title. very sweet. The storyline isn't so dramatic and a tearjerker like I'm Sorry I Love You (that's for sure). But I needed a break from that kind of drama anyway. So this was the series I chose. Don't know if I helped much or not, but it's still up for you to decide. Oh, but just so you know, your mouth will get watery because of all the good food they cook in there. Unless if you're not a fan of Chinese gourmet.

Ahhh you're too kind ! For me, overboad will not be the right way to discribes their relationship. Their behavours seem so extreme to the extend that it is unhealthy and un-natural sometimes .

Beside the mother, the other person I really don't like at the beginning is Yoon! He is soo pathetic, what kind of guy in his 20s still sleep with his mother when he has nightmare and the way he act sometimes make me really ! I feel like giving a big to wake him up.

I don't see how Eun Chae can be in love with him at the beginning.......he is soooo childish !
    Cheers!!!!!!

Sorry about that. I I hope you do watch MISA. It's excellent and I'm pretty sure it's made me a SJS fan.
Thanks for the info on Sweet Proposal. This series has other names too like Delicious Proposal and Second Proposal, right? I'm definitely a fan of Chinese gourmet...or of any yummy food. Too bad SJS's not the main character. I think I'll make Bali Story my next SJS series since he gets more screentime in there. I have to rush through Lovers in Paris this weekend 'cause someone lent it to me for a few days. At first I thought that and Bali Story were the same series, but they're not.

Well, how I was originally going to describe the Yoon-mother relationship was... Oedipal Complex, but that would have been only half the story. It's also kind of creepy how there are so many rather intimate pictures of the two of them all over the house. Where's Yoon's father? Who's the father of Moohyuk and his sister? I hope these questions and more are answered later on.
Yoon can act really childish. I hate how he always threatens to kill himself over Minjoo. I guess Eunchae loved him because they literally grew up together and she's always taken care of everything for him. Yoon is so thickheaded not to have realized Eunchae's feelings for him until Minjoo told him. When exactly does Moohyuk fall for Eunchae? There are all these scenes of him observing her being selfless and caring, but it's so hard to tell what he's thinking. When does he go from curiosity to pity to true love? Ah, the complex ambiguity is just another thing I love about this drama. "I stabbed Yoon, but why is it you that's bleeding?" I can't wait for Eunchae to finally get over Yoon and fall for the Moohyuk!

Moohyuk's little nephew is really cute. He's one of the better child actors I've seen. The family scenes in here are so real and touching, like when Moohyuk apologized to his sister for yelling at her and tears came to his eyes and his sister gently touched his face as if finally understanding his genuine intentions. I also like the part when the boy was teaching them how to write Korean and they were so bad at it. It was so cute how they were hunched over like poor students while the kid was like a strict teacher.

Have you or anyone else here seen Thousand Years of Love? If so, what's your opinion of it and how is SJS and his role in there?

I didn't like Thousand Years of Love. SJS role wasn't great. The actress 'Sung Yu Ri' was pretty but her acting wasn't good. Well...maybe it's because the role she had to play. MISA is his best role.

Thanks for your input, crazylife. I just want to see how SJS is in an ancient series.

    Lady Zhuge,

"Sweet Proposal" and "Delicious Proposal" is the same series, but "Second Proposal" is a diffirent series altogether . I haven't watched "Delicious Proposal" but had watched "Second Proposal" which starred my current crush: Oh Ji Ho ! He was really funny and cute in this series. This series is one of the top ten Korean series of 2004!

Bali Story is the way to go if you want to watch SJS's series. Thousand Years of Love is Ok but I didn't like SJS's character that much. I like and sympathized more with Kim Nam Jin's character.
    Cheers!!!!!!

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Fallen Angel. Too many proposals.
Oh Ji Ho, eh? I remember seeing some pics of him in the hottest Korean actor thread. At first I was shocked that MISA wasn't on the top 10 list of Korean series in 2004 and yet Lovers in Paris was towards the top. It's like light and day on opposite ends of the spectrum. But then I realized MISA is a 2005 series.

Speaking of MISA, I'm on episode 11 now. I don't hate the mother as much now that I know why she doesn't know about her poor twins. I don't understand why the guy who raised the sister told Moohyuk who his real mother is and yet doesn't encourage him to confront her about it. Who cares about her public image?!? Seeing her love for Yoon and how she'd be willing to give anything up for him, she should be someone who's happy to know of her other children's existence. It's such torture to watch because before, at least Moohyuk had hope, but now he's just in pain and I HATE seeing him in pain. Yoon is annoying me more now. He's too selfish and deserves to be punished for it just as Minjoo was for being unfaithful. Moohyuk and Rockhead together forever!!!

I'm surprised this thread isn't more active. I thought there were more SJS fans around here. Oh well, more for me then.

Don't worry Lady Zhuge, MISA will definitely be in the top five of the top 10 list for 2005. Probably will be at second place, right behind "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon" !

Yeah, as the story started to unfold the mother sort of redeem herself a bit......to the extend that we pity her for not knowing what happended to her children. But still I don't like her treatment of other people, specially Moohyuk and his sister. She can be really selfish sometimes.

As for the old man, well he has his own reasons for not encouraging Moohyuk to confront his mother....it will all be revealed at the end.

I reckon Yoon and Minjoo deserved each other! They should just get together and leave Moohyuk and Rockhead along. Its break my hearts to see Moohyuk praying and try to bargain with God for letting Rockhead stay with him....how he willing to give up all his hatre and revenge for Rockhead.

I don't think there is a lot of SJS fans in this forum and most people probably decided to not to watch it because of the ending even thought it is better than most of the top 10 series of 2004....or series of the same genre like Stairway to Heaven, Winter and Autumn Story.

Anyway, like you said more SJS for you and me and they can keep their BI/Rain and KSW .
    Cheers!!!!!!

count me in on SJS obsession

as much as possible i try to avoid drama series...but then somebody recommended the series MISA...he simply said, this one's good...and without knowing who the actors were and the plot was i tried it out...and the rest is history....

the acting of SJS in this series was something to behold....he carried the character so well that i was crying when he was crying...when he spoke his lines i was simply moved...as if it was really happening to him...

this was a drama, a heart-breaking one - but i can't help but rewatch several touching scenes to relive the moment (actually during the first time i watched this, just listening to the OST made me cry...aaarrggghhh).

ah...enough of this rambling, lest you think im getting crazy...

...second place? Hmm...this MNIKSS must be really good then. Actually, I doubt that and MISA would even be comparable since it's a romantic comedy, right?

I thought maybe Yoon would feel sorry for Moohyuk after he found out about the bullet, but now he's just using it as an excuse to be more selfish and have Eunchae for himself by accusing Moohyuk of being the selfish one.

The praying scenes always have me , but then Moohyuk has me laughing when he makes comments to people about how the hospital is a rip-off and not to go in. The scene when Rockhead thought Moohyuk just wanted to take her virginity and started taking her clothes off in that hotel room was so sad. She completely misunderstood him and he was so disappointed.

I think you and I have similar tastes in series. Even though they're in the same genre, I didn't like Endless Love at all, but I LOVE MISA.

Bi? KSWho? Hehe, yeah, I'll take SJS any day or night.

as much as possible i try to avoid drama series...but then somebody recommended the series MISA...he simply said, this one's good...and without knowing who the actors were and the plot was i tried it out...and the rest is history....

the acting of SJS in this series was something to behold....he carried the character so well that i was crying when he was crying...when he spoke his lines i was simply moved...as if it was really happening to him...

this was a drama, a heart-breaking one - but i can't help but rewatch several touching scenes to relive the moment (actually during the first time i watched this, just listening to the OST made me cry...aaarrggghhh).

ah...enough of this rambling, lest you think im getting crazy...
I'd be a hypocrite if I thought you were crazy...

Yeah, I can't say enough about SJS's acting in MISA. I'm not sure if I've fallen for his character or for him because they're so much like one and the same.

Watch the teardrop, watch the teardrop...
