Hong Kong's postal service will issue stamps to honour late Canto-pop singers Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui, Danny Chan, Roman Tam and Wong Ka-kui.

"These stamps have been issued to commemorate the great achievements of some of Hong Kong's greatest entertainers," said Allan Chiang, the city's postmaster general.

"Both individually and collectively, they made a profound impact on Hong Kong people. They were all much loved and respected for their talent and for the joy they brought to the local music scene," he said in a statement.

The stamps will go on sale on November 8.

Singer and actor Cheung, best known for his portrayal of an opera star in the acclaimed 1993 historical film "Farewell My Concubine", leapt to his death from the 24th floor of a Hong Kong hotel in April 2003 after a long battle with depression.

Pop diva Anita Mui died in 2003 following a battle against cancer.

Wong, rock singer from hugely-popular band "Beyond", died in 1993 after falling from a stage platform in Japan. In the same year, pop idol Chan died after being in a coma for over a year.

Tam died in October 2002 after battling liver cancer.
