Haha, even though I don't know too much about Boscolie, I can definitely see the parallels (with Boscolie also insisting they are just good friends for the longest time)! Although, I recently saw an interview with Bosco where he said he hadn't even thought about marriage yet because they're still working on their careers...while FengMi (especially YM lol) seem to be saying they really want a marriage/family (despite the fact that they have not yet found that "other person"...lol ).

I think with YM, she is very "cold" and "yu jie" if she doesn't like you (e.g. how she treated FSF at first, and also the way she was to that one guy on Happy Camp), but under usual circumstances she is quite friendly/professional, and to her good friends she will put everything out there for them. But you're right, despite the fact that YM has a very "open" personality, it seems like fans really don't know too much about her private life and thoughts...although I dunno about the singing--she doesn't strike me as someone who will do something she doesn't like just for the money (unless forced to by her company?). I do get the feeling that she enjoys singing and takes her album very seriously (she's said before that if she decides to do something, she wants to make sure she will do that to the best of her ability). But she's just not as talented singing-wise so can't expect her album to be that outstanding.

She's definitely still in a learning process with handling the media though--YM said before that she's already learned to be a lot more careful and reserved with reporters because they have taken a lot of her words out of context in the past (when she was more free with her words and would just say whatever she thought without realizing how it could be misconstrued). You're right, I don't think anyone can really get truly comfortably with the media...(especially considering how vicious some of them can be! Haha.)

Oh no, I wasn't offended! It's just because I've seen lots of people in the Chinese forums also say that her album is "wan piao" (i.e. something she's just doing on the side for the heck of it and is not serious about). Of course she might be just saying this (after all, who would admit to just "dabbling" in the music industry when there are so many more talented aspiring singers out there), but YM has mentioned several times that she really did put a lot of work into trying to improve her singing for the album, and is treating it seriously just like her acting work. (We did get that cute candid of her practicing her singing with a brush while getting her makeup done though for an event or filming or something...haha, so I think she does genuinely love singing. ^_^)

"Vanishing Bullet" is set in Min Guo era (i.e. 1920s-1940s-ish era). So the guys are all dressed up in sharp suits with slicked-back hair and moustaches (there are several higher-res pictures, particularly of Sean Lau, in the Chinese forums here if anyone's interested) while the ladies should hopefully be wearing some lovely qi pao's. There are actually lots of pictures of the other ladies in the movie here--one reason I am a bit anxious about Yang Mi's look in the movie is because my reactions ranged from "very underwhelmed" to "horrified" when I saw the stylings for the other girls (who are, everyone is assuming, other "background" bar singers in the nightclub).

Yang Mi might look cute with the bob--guess I was just expecting something like her gorgeous "JCSS" look where she had a lot of beautifully-styled updo's that matched her lovely dresses and qipao's really well.

This could possibly be Yang Mi's wig: (it was posted by someone in the crew, but it could also be another actress' wig...does seem to match YM's though. Personally I think I like that other hairstyle in the back better, lol!)

I agree! The makeup in the pics/MVs is very natural and not overdone at all...wish she could always be styled that way!

Anyways, that concludes my "Jing Cheng Si Shao" picspam (which is...almost 3 months overdue I know ). I believe that series was filmed beginning of 2010? Well anyways, now that I've done picspams of JCSS as well as "Wang Zhao Jun" and "Shang Shu Fang", I figure next up I might as well do a picspam of "Xiao Qian" since these are the 4 dramas where I loved YM's styling the most!

I believe "Xiao Qian" was filmed in 2004--so pretty much right before ROCH, Shang Shu Fang, and WZJ. Probably one of her earliest series, after her first drama, "Hong Fen Shi Jia". Funny that YM worked with college buddies Yuan Hong and Hu Ge in different projects so soon after one another (LZ and SSF); then collaborated with both of them in a hugely popular series years later (CP3). Similarly, she collaborated with both Yan Kuan and FSF (also college buddies) in different projects soon after one another, both in TV movies (FSF in DHTHK, Yan Kuan in Beijing Fairytale; both circa 2004 I think?) and then also years later in her other hugely popular series (Gong). In both cases one was her main love interest (HG, FSF) while the other was a "cameo" love interest (YH, YK). What's even funnier is all of them graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy... (Although the year YK/FSF graduated was the year HG/YH entered...) And not as similar scenarios, but she also did collaborate with another famous pair of college buddies--Chen Kun and HXM!

Btw is it just me or does it seem like most popular Chinese actresses graduate from Beijing schools (all four of the new young "hua dan" aka YM/LYF/Eva/WLD, plus Shu Chang, LSS, Tang Yan...and also the two most popular of the post-90s generation, Zheng Shuang/Zhou Dongyu), while most of the popular young Chinese actors graduated from Shanghai?? Hmmm...
