i have to say that even though i'm not happy with her playing a supporting role, she looks very lovely in those pictures. as a matter of fact, this is the best i've seen her in a modern series.

Well, it is a Taiwan movie so you would expect them to cast TW actors in the lead roles...also I think of her cameo/supporting roles as "bonus". Because she is already filming as the lead actress in Ru Yi, which for most actors is enough to keep them busy! Usually people only concentrate on one project at a time. (I mean, here she is doing Ru Yi, Hua Pi 2, XTSYD, and possibly Wang De Sheng Yan all in the same time period! I think you'd be hard-pressed to find another actor in any one of those projects be filming two things at once...never mind FOUR! O_o Plus she has all those commercials/promotions to do.) So I look at it as, "Ru Yi" is her main project, and all her other roles is just icing on the cake.Ever since the simultaneous filming of CP3/HLM, this seems to be YM's modus operandi--play the lead role in one main project and then in what spare time she has left over she uses to play smaller roles in other films/series to gain more experience. If you think about it, she has almost always had at least one lead role going on, so I don't feel like she's having her talents "wasted" or just being relegated to supporting roles.
Perhaps more likely is, she is approached to participate in a lot of projects but she can't accept major roles in all of them, so she compromises by doing a supporting role/cameo in many of them. (Girl really needs to slow down sometime though.)
I know...but at this point since she has already established her professionalism and credibility as an actress, it would be nice if she slowed down and focus on quality series or movies. Regardless, I love seeing pictures of her. Which commercials is she doing?

I definitely agree...but, I think she is in a "transition" period right now where she is still tying up loose ends, so to speak, from her pre-Gong period. After Gong is probably when she started getting more offers, and now that her DMGD movie is doing so well (almost entirely thanks to her) she will likely be getting even more. However since she had all those prior commitments she probably couldn't do much more than just accept small roles due to her packed schedule up till now. Apart from Gong 2/Gong movie (which I fervently hope she has only a tiny role in), I don't think any other projects have been publicly announced after her current round of filming (Ru Yi and Hua Pi 2, which should finish in August). I have heard that she has a number of potential movie projects lined up for later this year but they are still currently being kept secret. Don't get too excited for this tidbit but I just read that she may be costarring in a new martial arts flick later this year which will definitely be an interesting change of pace! However there are so many news stories out there you never know which ones are real, lol. I mentioned before I kinda wanted to see YM in an action movie after watching her wield a gun in JCSS (though she doesn't do more than point and shoot in there, haha) so this is somewhat close I guess...however sounds like the focus of this one (if true) will be more on traditional martial arts rather than gun-type action. Supposedly it takes place in Min Guo though, which YM always looks fantastic in.Another movie director has also revealed on his weibo that he will be collaborating with YM soon, but no details about which movie yet. So don't worry patricia, I think there will be plenty to look forward to in the future!
(Although, I personally still hope she doesn't give up TV series entirely...movies are just not that satisfying.)
As for commercials: I saw short snippets of her in makeup commercials (mascara and eyeshadow, they have to take advantage of her lovely eyes after all! XD). She also has a cell phone commercial (I posted a few pics here awhile back), a bubble tea commercial, and that "Women's Day" fitness video thing that hasn't been released yet. I think she also has an upcoming hair-related endorsement in August. Oh, and she apparently got the most votes out of a lot of celebs (by fans I think? I'm not too clear on the details) to be the spokesperson for a winter coat company, so there'll probably be more photoshoots/commercials for that as winter approaches. She's keeping busy, that's for sure...
Edit: Apparently the news of the martial arts movie has been officially confirmed! It's called "Da Wu Dang" (i.e. "Big Wudang"--in case anyone doesn't know, a bit of background: Wudang is one of the major martial arts sects in China, and has appeared in Jinyong novels; I'm not that familiar with how these things work but I believe there are 2 major sects right now, being Shaolin and Wudang). So far the 3 actors announced as leads are Yang Mi, Zhao Wen Zhuo, and Fan Shao Huang. (Not that familiar with the other 2 but I know they are both pretty famous for being in martial arts movies.) Since YM is the only female out of the 3 I'm assuming she will be more or less the female lead...? Anyhow apparently it will begin shooting soon so I am praying that this means she is not going to be devoting that much time to Gong stuff...lol.

Wow, she is so pretty...and the prettiness lasts with repeated viewing.
I'd buy any cosmetic Yang Mi endorses...but I wouldn't buy any "fitness" item unless it's clothes haha. Judging from her childhood pic, Yang Mi just doesn't have it in her genetics to get fat, so her dieting just doesn't make sense. Perhaps exercise..sure. You know how some people, for some reason, just don't get fat? Even under great stress or being in love? That's Yang Mi.As for commercials: I saw short snippets of her in makeup commercials (mascara and eyeshadow, they have to take advantage of her lovely eyes after all! XD). She also has a cell phone commercial (I posted a few pics here awhile back), a bubble tea commercial, and that "Women's Day" fitness video thing that hasn't been released yet. I think she also has an upcoming hair-related endorsement in August.
I'm rambling, excuse me. Too much tea for ByT.
I like me.
Wow...I used to have such a crush on vincent zhao (I find him unconventionally attractive but very talented with martial arts and always a bit underrated). Am unfamiliar with fan shao huang. Vincent is doing more movies than series this day so looks like this may be a movie. I was hoping that she would be in xajh as yu zheng loves her too.

There are also news that YM is competing with Lin Zhiling for the role of Pan Jin Lian in an upcoming movie version of "Shui Hu Zhuan" (Water Margin Affairs).
Isn't Zhao Wen Zhuo, Vincent Zhao (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Vincent_Zhao)? I'm not super excited about this new movie since there seems to be a spurt of Min Guo type of Kung Fu movies flooding the cinemas these recent years ("Ip Man", "Wu Xia", "Wing Chun" etc. and more) though it'll definitely be a refreshing change for YM since it's a movie and hopefully she gets to fight and not be relegated to some damsel-in-distress type of role which these sort of movies tend to steer towards for females.

There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.
Wise Fool
I know miss Lin is a Taiwanese supermodel but I don't find her super looking nor a good actress. But she does have a beautiful body! More likely than not, miss Lin will get the role given her status (isn't she one of the most influential people in Taiwan?) and that she easily landed the role of the main female lead in red cliff with i don't know what credibility. so i would not be surprised if she gets this role too. That would be so awesome if yang mi can get this role, but I'd rather her be in a very good kungfu series as all of the women in water margin are supporting characters.

According to the fans in the FengMi forum the Water Margin news is just rumours and not true...I don't know how they know which stuff is true or not but they definitely seem pretty on top of these things (most news they post are indeed real "news") so I wouldn't get too excited about that one. Actually it seems to me like most of the actual projects are kept pretty much secret until officially announced (e.g. both Hua Pi 2 and Da Wudang, I didn't hear anything about until they came out and announced it). And for the other director I mentioned, after he revealed an upcoming collaboration with YM on his weibo she replied jokingly, "And here I was, keeping it a secret!" Lol. And they haven't come out to say anything more about the project since then. So it seems like there are a couple projects she may be participating in but I don't think we'll hear much news about them until it gets close to filming time.
I haven't really paid attention to the recent chinese movies so I don't really know the "style" of these kungfu-based ones, but I will be disappointed if YM is just a damsel-in-distress type.
Haha...well her fitness endorsement is definitely exercise-related which I like to see more than dieting! (Although I think she's admitted in the past that she actually doesn't really exercise/do sports because she has no time...so maybe not the best person to do a fitness video, lol...) YM has said she does eat a lot but because she's working so hard she doesn't gain weight. However she is also pretty much a vegetarian and she loves eating fruit etc...and eating a bucketful of fruit isn't going to get you fat, so I'm sure it's a cross between fantastic genetics (seriously where can I get her gene pool?? lovely face, great body, not to mention talented acting, hardworking, and pretty intelligent...), working too hard (who needs exercise when you're working your butt off filming almost 24/7), and eating healthy.

The women in all the Donnie Yen movies I've seen are damsels in distress. Even in Legend of the Fist: Chen Zhen, though Shu Qi was a Japanese spy, she didn't have a single physical fight onscreen and in the end chose to die for love instead of her country...ugggghhh. Didn't help that she and Donnie didn't have a convincing love story.
Among the recent Chinese movies the past year, the most meaty female fighter role was definitely Li Bing Bing's role as Shangguan Jing'er in Detective Dee.
New pics (not sure if it's for a photoshoot or ad). A bit too photoshopped but I like the outfits, especially the yellow dress, so bright and cheerful and cute. A few more from the source here.

Again?!! >_< Fixed, thanks for letting me know snowyjasmine...lol I guess next time I will just post the link, too lazy to upload them every time. x_x And JoleCole, I too am thrilled that YM/FSF are only guest-starring in Gong 2, hehe! XD
On another note, just finished watching JCSS and I'd definitely recommend it! If you ignore the bad editing in the first episode and the horrible overacting by the 3rd brother (unfortunately I think he has the most screentime), this is definitely one of the best series I've watched recently with a great plot, cast, and costuming/settings. They do a great job of building a feeling of mystery and intrigue (slowly revealing just the right amount of info while keeping enough hidden to keep you interested), lots of complex relationships between the characters and plenty of touching moments. I teared up a lot towards the end and straight out starting bawling in the last episode...all the actors are fantastic (except 3rd brother), my favourite being 4th brother (so cute and likeable!!!) and YM (her acting is really great here, especially at the end, and of course she looks absolutely gorgeous). This might be one of my favourite YM characters, although she doesn't have that much screentime (some eps she only appeared for like 2 minutes because the story is so plot/character-heavy...obviously in other eps she has more screentime though). But despite all the storylines going on, everything is interconnected and all loose ends are tied up well at the end, giving a very satisfying ending. (YM's is bittersweet but it is still fitting for her tragic character and at least they leave it open-ended so I can imagine a happy ending for her.)
Got to say, while Gong was a total fiasco I can see why YM's fame shot up after it thanks to FengMi's popularity. I mean, personally even though I've sort of "followed" her for several years I haven't actually watched much of her stuff...I think I watched more of her series in the last 3 months than I have in the past 5-6 years! Lol. Think I will take a break now and catch some others on my list, save the rest of YM's series for later.
OK, now I can't help but rant on about 3rd brother because he nearly single-handedly ruined this series for me (good thing everything else was so good it made up for him). No real spoilers here but I'll keep it under the spoiler tags so people can ignore my angry rant if you want, lol.click to show spoilers

I just realized--the 4th brother in JCSS kind of reminds me of a cuter, "boyish" version of YH! (YH being the hotter/more mature version hehe.) The actor even has the same last name! (Yuan Wen Kang, hmmmm could they be related?? j/k j/k.) I thought something about him seemed familiar, but after looking him up I haven't seen him in anything before; then I was browsing through YH pics and went "aha!" at their similarity. Apparently he is also acting in the upcoming Beijing Love Story but he probably won't have scenes with YM there.
Yup, YM's schedule for August was released (by someone in her management company? not sure) and it's mostly continued Ru Yi + Hua Pi filming, as well as some event appearances/promos etc. Since Gong 2 starts filming beginning of August someone asked when that fits in, and the person replied she will be taking some time to do a cameo in there but they haven't penciled in the date yet.
YM posted a funny note on her weibo about the pics I posted above: "Saw the news yesterday and discovered I just "had plastic surgery" again...after clicking the link, I realized it was because of all the photoshop. It's so photoshopped I don't even recognize who this is!"Then she asks everyone to please try to be nice and stop messing about with these rumours...Even though YM always says these rumours don't bother her and pretends to ignore them/joke about them, I feel like she really is hurt by them...from the way she gets a lot more subdued/slightly emotional when being forced to reply to them over and over again, as well as comments by her friends on her behalf.
(In contrast, she always seems pretty happy when asked about the FSF rumours, lmao...)
Apparently she's also a huge "Angry Birds" player (as well as a collector of pretty iPhone covers!), after her sparkly Hello Kitty one now she just got a sparkly Angry Birds cover. In the past I've also seen cute videos of her doing an Angry Birds impersonation and happily tossing around an Angry Birds pillow while waiting at the airport, haha. (Coincidentally...FSF also mentioned several times that he plays Angry Birds too...ok ok I know it's a popular game, but still! XD Sorry sorry, their weibo posts in the last few days were so adorable I can't help myself, don't mind me... ^_^)
And last but not least, new pics of YM during Ru Yi filming: (apparently she is filming another wedding scene?! I'm guessing it's a "continuation" of the same wedding she did on the first day of filming, except that was the "western" version...??) She looks like such a little kid again playing dress-up, in that second pic!

Is ruyi an anticipated series? How long has she been filming it? To be honest, I think the ruyi leads are attractive, but I have no interest in that drama.

Im not done with JCSS yet but is he the son that live with their parents? If so, I think YM and him will have a lot of scenes in Beijing Love Story. From all of the BTS for Beijing Love Story, it looks like she is in a relationship with him and the other guy (don't know his name).
Yes he's the one! Really, she's having lots of scenes with him in BJAQGS?? I only saw tons pics of her with Li Chen so I thought her story pretty much revolved around only him...but yay if Yuan Wenkang is in her storyline too! (Hmm will YM finally be in a love triangle NOT involving 2 brothers for once? Lol, j/k...) They only had a few scenes together in JCSS (but he was cute with Li Qian in that) so I'm looking forward to BJAQGS more now. ^_^ Funny thing is, I thought YWK was younger than YM (since his character is so boyish/mischievous in JCSS while YM's character is so serious/melancholy), however turns out he is actually 1 year older.
Not sure how "anticipated" it is...personally I am looking forward to it, because I've been getting really into Min Guo dramas lately (I think I'm finally going to get around to watching the recent popular Min Guo drama with Wallace Chung/Li Xiaoran next). It definitely doesn't have that type of "idol drama" appeal (e.g. TR and YZ dramas which are always very hyped up and bound to do well), but I'm looking forward to watching some more serious dramas now (although, Ru Yi seems a bit TOO depressing...) So honestly I don't think it will do as well ratings-wise as TR/YZ series, but hopefully it gets some good reviews critically and is a decent sucess.
Edit: Ok I just went to read the synopsis of BJAQGS (don't know why I never did before)...and apparently YM is playing a gold-digger who ditches her sweet college boyfriend (Li Chen) for some rich millionaire's son (YWK) because she's so greedy. LOL.Well this should be interesting to watch!
