Oops, ignore.
I think YWK plays a womanizing, abusive, jerky boyfriend in Beijing's Love Story. I saw his character slaps YM several times...Not a very appealing character for sure!
Oh mango, you're gonna watch Too Late I Love You? hehehe...I like the drama, but i think you'll get either very "emotional" or "frustrated" with some of the characters. LOL...Still, it was a well acted series...

Ouch. Doesn't sound like YM's character will be easy to sympathize with if she sticks with such a jerkish character just for the money. Hard to imagine too because YWK plays such a sweet guy in JCSS, lol! But now I finally know who slapped YM--I remember skimming through FSF/YM's weibos and way back (before Gong even started airing) YM posted a filming pic of herself with a vivid red slap mark on her face; then FSF replied: "Who dares slap my Qing Chuan?! I'm not going to spare/forgive him!!"![]()
Well, now the mystery is solved...YWK better watch out and steer clear of FSF, lmao. XD
Yup, my to-watch list is getting really long but I decided that will be next. (I hope it's not a TOO tragic series...)Oh mango, you're gonna watch Too Late I Love You? hehehe...I like the drama, but i think you'll get either very "emotional" or "frustrated" with some of the characters. LOL...Still, it was a well acted series...
Another new Ru Yi BTS pic posted up by Wen MengYang, another actress who has lots of scenes with YM and became good friends with her during filming. She's pretty cute, reminds me quite a bit of Jang Nara actually!

I have to admit, she looks really beautiful in ruyi. She looks even more so with repeated viewing.
And it is also great that she gets to play a different role...a gold digger in another series.

Ok, mega YM news update (that I know some of you have been waiting for)!
Yang Mi's management company (Mei Ya) hosted an event today to celebrate DMGD's success (box office now upwards of 85 million yuan). They also took the opportunity to finally announce her 4 upcoming movie projects: (yeesh, it doesn't look like she is going to slow down when switching from the small screen to the big screen...) The first two start filming in October, the other two probably next year. YM's parents and grandparents were also in the audience to support her.(And also to see her, because she's so busy she practically never gets to go home anymore.
)
I tried to provide some info on the 4 projects but as a lot of them are pieced together from various people's weibos, I don't know how accurate it is. Will try to keep updating more info as it comes out. Seems like a good variety of genres (kungfu, a more serious spy film, supernatural thriller, love story/fairytale) and characters (thief/bandit, spy, spirit/ghost, princess). Supposedly these 4 projects have a combined budget of over 300 million yuan, lots of pressure to perform well... O_o (Compare with DMGD which had a measly budget of 5 million--man did that production company ever make a TON of money...)
"Da Wu Dang" (the previously mentioned Min Guo kungfu film costarring Vincent Zhao and Fan Shaohuang; apparently she will be doing some kungfu training for this film as she is playing some kind of female thief/bandit?? Sounds good to me!)
"Ting Feng Zhe" ("Wind Seeker"; YM is playing a female spy? Also stars Tony Leung; adapted from a novel...hmm why does this sound a bit familiar LOL)
"Hu Die Gong Mu" ("Butterfly Tomb"; I think it's a supernatural thriller-type movie. Also adapted from a novel; YM may be playing a spirit or a ghost?)
"Tu Lan Duo" ("Turandot"; YM will be playing 2 roles, one of which is a Mongolian princess. Sounds like it will be adapted from the opera "Turandot", a romance/fairytale-ish love story about a cold and cruel princess whose beauty attracts many suitors; she asks them to answer 3 riddles or else she beheads them. Finally one suitor, an intelligent prince, answers correctly and after some more events happen he eventually wins her heart.)
In other news, someone also mentioned that YM may not have time to participate in "Wang De Sheng Yan" after all...not sure how reliable it is but I can certainly believe it (wondered myself how the heck she planned to make time for it). No big loss since she was just playing a small role anyhow, although I was looking forward to her styling/costuming--YM looks really good in the Warring States/Han period clothing and it being a big budget production, the costumes are sure to be amazing. Oh well. (I can already see the negative news stories certain reporters are going to spin out of this one, lol...especially after all the buzz and hype the media made out of it...Hope I'm wrong of course!)

Poor YM being swarmed by the media...
YM's fans presenting her with a cute flower bouquet that spells out "Mi" (lol one fan has a Teddy Family T-shirt)

She looks chubbier and really cute and happy!
I like me.
OMG. The picture of her standing in front of the "wings" looks exactly like her old Guo Xiang days! Oh, the things a little weight can do. Gorgeous. As always. And I'm looking forward to these movies! It sounds like she gets to play such a variety of roles and will really showcase her acting. What are you guys most excited for?
Yang Mi, Liu Shi Shi, Tang Yan = my young golden three
hey everyone...how are u guys?? anyways finally i have time to reply to this thread...anywhoo wow seem like YM is gonna be super duper busy with all these filiming....i cant wait to see them...anywho anyone know when fengmi is coming out??any recommendation??if so please tell me....thank you soooo much....
love it! i love that she gets the recognition she deserves in the entertainment industry. i love that she has a variety of different roles and with famous artists too! i just hope she doesn't leave tv series altogether. i was hoping that she would get a kick *** role as a female martial artist in a quality series where she leads. alas, that was not meant to be.

OMG...*dies* Are my eyes deceiving me here, or is this Yuan Hong??!! (YM just posted this pic on her weibo.) Man it's been FOREVER since I've seen pics of YM with her old CP3 buddies. The accompanying text is about how she's been working all morning, so I don't know what this means...do YM/YH have another collaboration of some kind?! I don't think I've heard of anything though! Yesterday she said she was flying straight to Shanghai for work after the event; it's probably not Ru Yi filming since that's in An Ji, so maybe some kind of promo thing?
Edit: Omg it is YH! He just replied to her post on weibo! It definitely sounds like it's some kind of work-related collab...
Anyways, a lot more HQ pics of yesterday's event here: http://news.mtime.com/pix/2011/08/01/85059.html.
I know, she looks so happy and youthful these days. XD I'm surprised because she's been overworking even more than usual lately! (I say it's because of a certain someone...)
And I'm kinda a sucker for fairytale/fantasy/romance movies so I am probably most looking forward to Turandot at the moment. Followed by "Wind Seeker" because I love spy thrillers (I think it's so cool when they go around in trenchcoats and high heels with guns. LOL.) I'm not so much looking forward to the supernatural thriller or the kungfu film, just cause those are just not really my cup of tea...but that's the good thing about these projects I guess, there should be something for everyone.
I think her company has done a good job arranging her movie career--first letting her have small supporting roles in a high-profile mainland film (Hua Pi 2), as well as in a TW film (XTSYD) and HK film (DCXJ) to gain some exposure in the other markets. Then progress to costarring in films so she gets a major role but at the same time the spotlight is shared by more established movie actors, so it's not like all the pressure is on her (Da Wudang, Wind Seeker). And finally, next year she stars as the main lead in Butterfly Tomb and Turandot.
I know, I do hope we still see her in TV series. YM has said she is not giving up on TV dramas and will act in one if it has a good script, but I don't know if she even has time for that now with her schedule packed with movies...

yh and ym....i wouldn't mind if they lead in xajh together too!![]()

I know, I'd definitely rather them act a couple too! But, I'll take whatever I can get at this point...after all I wasn't expecting any YM/YH collab in the near future at all! :P So first we have a Gong/Meteor Garden "clash" in XTSYD, now we are getting a Gong/BBJX clash, haha. I am surprised I've heard nothing about this project till now though. I thought YM had enough on her plate with Ru Yi/HP2, suddenly there's this new thing with YH? (Not that I'm complaining of course! XD)
Bit more news about her films:
Da Wudang: YM is supposedly actually going to Wudang for some martial arts training for 2 months. I'm assuming this means Sep-Oct since she has to finish her other projects in Aug and the movie starts filming in Oct. So we may not get much news in Sep. She revealed that when she just started acting, she got injured while filming fighting scenes and this incident has lingered in her memory since then, thus she is very nervous about doing fight scenes again. I wonder if this is the reason we almost never see her have major wuxia/fighting scenes? Which is a pity...maybe this will get her more comfortable with wuxia stuff and we can see more of it in the future? ^_^
Turandot: So as mentioned before YM will be playing 2 roles; in addition to the princess she will also be the "slave girl" (the cruel princess tortures the slave girl in an attempt to force her to reveal the prince's secret so she can kill him as well; however the slave girl is devoted to her master and suicides instead). I am a bit confused by this because, I thought the whole premise of the opera was that the princess was so beautiful all those men were willing to risk death for a chance to marry her; well if this slave girl is just as beautiful...what's the point?? Lol. Honestly I'd rather they just get someone else to play this other role...although, I have heard they are going to make some changes to the original story so perhaps I'm just missing a key plot point here.
Also, when asked about love/marriage in the interview, YM revealed that she hopes to get married before she turns 30, and once she gets married she plans to retire from the entertainment industry (to focus on family). I suspect that's another reason why she's working so hard right now--so she can finish everything she wants to accomplish before settling down. While on the one hand I'm giggling at the cuteness (FSF has been saying that his parents are pushing him to hurry up and get married lmao), I'd be really sad if YM stops acting completely. She seems to really love acting too so I can't see her staying away from it completely, maybe she'll change her mind and just do occasional series/movies...Well at any rate that should still be a few years away!

She is looking just so pretty lately, I don't even know! I too am very excited for the spy thriller and Turandot because I'd love for her to play a beautiful, exotic princess! YH/YM collab! So exciting, and suprising! Hopefully we'll see some more interactions with her old friends now. (Like LSS)
About the retirement thing, you never know. Liu Tao was gone after marriage and then she came back for Xi You Ji as a favor to ZJZ. But then there's Shui Ling who I think really did disappear from entertainment?
Yang Mi, Liu Shi Shi, Tang Yan = my young golden three
Actually I thought I saw some news awhile ago about Shui Ling acting in a new project, alongside her husband! I think it's just a small cameo role though, but still! =D
I too really want to see YM collab with HG/LSS/etc again sometime (or even pictures! I'll take real-life candids! It's nice hearing about their good friendships but it's not the same as having pictures). But, that doesn't seem too possible.Ah well, for now YM/YH is making up for that and satisfying my nostalgia! XD
Few more lovely close-up pics: (her fans sometimes comment that she is "growing backwards" lol because she looks younger now than before...seriously she does look more like her 18-year-old self than her more tired, unhealthy look 2-3 years ago.) I like her dress as well--it's cute and fresh without being too revealing. (Sorry for the picspam, I could not just pick a few because they're all so cute, hehe)

Thanks mango cake for all the exciting updates and translations...I am really forward to her projects now instead of bitterly complaining. Hmm...I too hope tha ym and yh aren siblings in their collaboration but oh well. At least we get a really cute pic of them out of this and who knows? Maybe other producers and directors will see their potential as a pair and want to cast them as leads in a great series together like xajh...cough cough in yz direction.

P.S. did anyone ever mention the story behind YM's name? (Just thought of it since I've been seeing a lot of interviews where she explains her name; I remember when she was not as famous, it'd be funny cause it's not a very common character--only used in math/science--so media people would pronounce it wrong all the time, e.g. "Yang Mu" or "Yang Ming".) Anyways, her last name is Yang (obviously), her dad's last name is Yang (obviously) but her mom's last name is coincidentally also Yang. So when she was born the family had 3 Yang's (Yang Yang Yang). Apparently her parents actually considered calling her Yang Yang or Yang Yang Yang (ok I think YM was joking about that last one lmao), but they thought it sounded weird/childish. So, they decided to be all mathematic/scientific and call her Yang Mi, where "Mi" means "power of". i.e. she is "Yang to the power of (3)". Lol! (Although, it also sounds the same as the word for "sweet", so the nickname "Mi Mi" is quite cute as well.)
In one interview YM jokingly said, "you can call me 'Yang squared' or 'Yang cubed!' " Haha.
Well...YZ clearly loves YM, and he seems to love YH as well (he kept lamenting over the fact that YH couldn't be in MRXJ and praised him highly, plus escalated that flame war with Karen over him) so you never know!![]()
She really is "aging backwards". I do think it has so much to do with being happy and having a good amount of weight on her again. I went to her weibo and actually read her original tweet about the "plastic surgery" and it made me so sad. She seemed so unhappy about it and hurt, while at the same time trying to be chipper. I do believe that she hasn't had surgery done because most who do just don't talk about it and avoid it, but she KEEPS having to refute all the rumors
