I just posted this in the HG thread (yeah got off-topic a bit lol) but it's a snippet from a YM interview that really struck a chord with me, so I thought I'd share it here for the YM fans: (It's from a while ago, right after DMGD became a success. Btw I just realized it's actually GDJH since they ended up changing the movie title...doh. But I'm so used to DMGD, I'm just going to stick with it! XD)

YM: "Many people ask me why I participate in 'bad' projects. They tell me I should stop accepting roles in TV series like Gong. Well, before Gong no one offered me any movie roles. They also say I shouldn't accept roles in movies like DMGD (her recent very low-budget horror movie). Well, before that no one else in the movie industry gave me a chance."

This is why I feel bad for her and get so annoyed when people say she goes for "quantity over quality" and think she has no standards when it comes to picking out projects. When the truth is, it sounds like she really had it rough for a few years between CP3 and MRXJ/Gong, when she was being blacklisted, and really did not have too much of a choice. (Btw not talking about anyone in this forum, it's more from the Baidu forums...awhile ago there was a HUGELY popular thread, basically the title was "Why YM will never be successful: she keeps choosing to star in crappy movies like DMGD and sabotaging herself." Whoever started it clearly knows nothing about YM because they were apparently under the impression she accepted the role AFTER Gong, even though she actually filmed the movie well before.)

Anyways I had typed up a huge long comment on what YM's been through these years to finally achieve success but I ended up closing the page by accident before posting!!! >_< Ah well, it's probably for the best--it got all rambly (like I seem to be prone to doing these days) and depressing, and YM has put it all behind her anyways! So, onto happier stuff! =)

New Movie "Chun Jiao Yu Zhi Ming" (sequel to "Love in a Puff") Press Conference:

Apparently YM will be playing some sort of "third wheel"--it's a modern day "realistic" type movie, there is a happy couple, and YM's character decides to go after the guy. Err, well good for her I guess that she's challenging herself with different roles, but...I will probably not be watching this movie. (Sounds boring.) But, here are some low-quality pics of her at the event. (Eurgh, not gonna lie, I hate leggings. Not even YM can make them attractive to me.)

Funny snippet: Apparently reporters asked the main guy (Yu Wenle, i.e...OMG WAIT WHAT WHAT WHAT I've only been reading his chinese name so far so I had no idea but I just googled him to find his english name and he is actually SHAWN YUE!!! O_o Is this for real?! How did I miss this?! So YM is chasing after Shawn Yue?! Maybe I will watch this after all!! Err, ahem, sorry...) to choose between the two actresses (Yang Mi and Yang Qianhua i.e. Miriam Yeung). Shawn replied: "Well I grew up overseas...so why don't we just have a threesome?" Then YM joked: "Heh, good thing you didn't mention a foursome at least..." Shawn: "O_o Didn't realize you were even more open to these things than me! I was just waiting for you to say the word!"

So yes, YM will be acting with Shawn Yue and Miriam Yeung here. XD (Man, I realize I don't know a lot of these HK stars' chinese names! All along I'd been thinking she was acting opposite 2 obsure actors/actresses I've never heard of... *facepalm*)
















P.S. How come Shawn Yue does not look that hot here?! I used to think he was the second hottest HK actor after Nic Tse...then I stopped paying attention to him for a few years and this is what I come back to?!

i confess. i was one of those who vocally expressed her displeasure over ym's mass quantity of bad projects; however, it's only because i believed she was too good of an actress for those roles. grrrr at the moron who opened that thread on the reason why ym would never be a successful actress. must be one sourpuss hater to open such a mean spirited thread.

on the other hand, i'm laughing my head off at the thought that karen is fuming over this surge in ym's popularity. a low budget movie has been made immensely successful solely because of ym's popularity. she will only get more opportunities at this point as now she is the star (even listed as the star of a series she has as supporting role in just to garner attention)....lol. i hope this hard working actress continues to get many wonderful opportunities in good movies and series. and i love her explanation for bad project. how tactful of her to not name any names or point fingers. for sure i would have revealed the jerks who screwed with my career and blacklisted me once i become successful.

Isn't it produced by CCTV? So they would have the rights to broadcast it. I bet other TV stations would shell out big $$$ to buy the rights but CCTV is keeping it to themselves. I remember someone here said they asked a CCTV person on weibo about it--apparently due to some kind of CCTV anniversary celebrations they postponed/rescheduled many dramas. I'm sure CCTV (seemingly being a major shipper themselves! ) are well aware of FengMi's popularity and know they got lucky with this one...so we just have to be patient, I think it's just a matter of time!

More "Love in a Puff" sequel movie updates:

kinchowong I'm also not all that excited about the movie itself and I barely know anything about Miriam. But, Shawn Yue I do like! And I was just excited because all this time I thought I never even heard of the 2 main leads of this movie, then it turns out I actually do know them! Anyways this is sort of a "down" period before YM starts on her main movie projects so it's not a bad idea to get some exposure in HK I guess (since I don't think she is famous there). At any rate it seems like YM/Miriam do not have many scenes together since Miriam is already finished filming while YM has only recently started. The director said he took notice of YM back in January (so right before Gong aired), and after seeing her photos on her weibo he thought she was really pretty/had a lot of "ling qi" (roughly translates to charisma/screen presence). YM will be playing a young flight attendant (she was described as "post-90s", i.e. her character is late teens) who is the third wheel in the Shawn/Miriam relationship.

So, apparently Shawn Yue likes to sneakily take pictures of YM without her knowledge!

Turns out the previous pic I posted of YM while filming was actually taken by Shawn (I didn't realize it was him before!). Shawn posted: "Today I'm working with the other Ms. Yang". YM replied to his weibo: "When was this taken O_o O_o O_o"



And today he just posted another one on weibo, saying: "I admit, all along flight attendants have been my fatal weakness." LOL.



YM replied: "Been 'tou pai' again! O_o -_- T_T'" Where 'tou pai' translates to "sneakily/secretly taking a photo of someone". (e.g. when the papparazzi stealthily steal shots of celebs.)

Hilariously, after FSF posted up the photo he took of YM at the Lux-sponsored awards show, the next day some person wrote up an article titled "FSF 'tou pai' Yang Mi". I have to feel sorry for the poor guy--YM was clearly smiling sweetly right at FSF in the photo, knowing he was taking a pic of her...no sneaky stuff involved! Meanwhile YM was actually the one who "tou pai" FSF (since he had his head down playing with his phone in the pic she took of him, clearly unaware that the sneaky girl was taking a snapshot!). Yet YM escapes completely unscathed and FSF ends up with the "crime".

Reminds me after the HFCQ press conference (early March), someone managed to get a shot of FSF that looked like he was secretly staring at YM's...err...chest area. (When really it was probably just taken at a moment when he was glancing down.) The pic then spread all over the internet and certain reporters even wrote up stories saying "FSF 'tou miao' Yang Mi". ("Tou miao" = secretly peeking at someone without their knowledge; has a pretty derogatory connotation.) Hilariously yesterday I just saw a "FSF-hater/basher" in the Baidu forums use this pic as his display pic! (Don't want to post that pic here but this is a link: No, this is NOT what it looks like!)

Well as you can imagine...when FSF got wind of this he was NOT happy. He posted an indignant response to this incident on weibo and sarcastically "praises" the photographer, lmao... (Note: "tang er huang zhi" means openly/boldly, with no hint of hiding or doing anything sneakily/secretly at all.)

FSF: "Tou miao"? I've looked at her plenty all this time over these years, do I really need to "tou miao"? I've always looked at her "tang er huang zhi"! But this photographer's skill is not bad, at that moment the photo he captured really makes things look that way...pretty good pretty good, a real believable photo! Strongly makes me want to get into photography, thinking back in the old days I used to play with cameras too. : )

(I have to admit when I read this I burst out laughing at the "I've always looked at her openly/for many years" bit--lmao, FSF do you realize how this phrase can be (mis)interpreted by less innocent minds?? We get it FSF, you were not sneakily peeking at her here--but did you really have to add that next part? Omg...this is just like his typical interviews and that angry post explaining his Valentine's Day message, it's all well and good for him to post that the message was not meant for that fake rumoured girlfriend, but then he just has to go and add that it was meant for YM. I can just imagine her facepalming over and over again when she's reading FSF's weibo. ) And I just find it hilarious that he always gets so defensive/angry only when it comes to things related to YM--sure way to get him all fired up! (Don't even remember him getting this mad about any of the other distasteful rumours that relate to him only.)



And now, just cause I feel like it, I'm taking this opportunity to post ADORABLE pics of FengMi at that press conference! (Even though it is from way back.) Seriously, I dare you to look at these and say they are "just friends"...or perhaps I really am just blinded and biased by my total FengMi adoration. >_<

(In the first one, YM is desperatedly trying to explain that she and FSF are JUST FRIENDS THAT'S IT but gets a bit tongue-tied--first she says "the biggest reason why we are not dating is because we are too busy" then she realizes that this can be interpreted the wrong way, so she quickly switches and says "I mean ONE OF the reasons why we are not dating...". In the pic she's waving her hand in a "no no oops that's not what I meant" motion and then turns to look at FSF for help...and this is the result. XD That whole conference was just full of FengMi goodies...)

anyhow, i can't remember if it's from this thread or the ROCH thread, but once ROCH thread aired in HK, ym's popularity went up. as a matter of fact, the actresses who played the guo sisters (chen sha sha and ym) were more popular than the actress who couldn't act as xln (lyf).

but it's definitely a good thing to remind hk about herself.

yup John Woo is a HK director and direct his first movie in the late 60s and become very popular in HK in the 80s and direct the first movie in hollywood in 1993

That's true patricia...although, ROCH was several years ago so I dunno if audiences actually still remember?

I find it funny that all these directors/producers keep insisting that them "discovering" YM is not related to Gong (even though I am sure she would not be getting nearly as many offers if it weren't for that series). First the XTSYD director says he already signed YM to the project well before Gong. Then the HP2 producer totally dismisses the fact that Gong or YM's popularity due to it played a role in her casting. And now the CJ+ZM director also says he noticed her before Gong aired... YZ must be fuming since it sounds like he totally wants to take credit for YM/FSF's current success! (And yeah, it's partially true...but YZ mostly lucked into it too, it's not like he's single-handedly responsible for it due to his talent or anything.)

Upcoming events to look forward to: (involve FengMi!)

- Aug. 26: YM will be attending a film/TV festival type event (FSF has been confirmed to attend! Yay! Also lots of other stars like HG, LSS, possibly TY etc)
- Aug. 28: will likely attend another event--FSF, HG, and LYF are confirmed to attend, YM has not confirmed yet but she doesn't seem to have any other commitments that day so it's hopeful. Also, after YM wished LYF happy birthday on her weibo, LYF replied, "Thank you! See you in Beijing!" so perhaps she's referring to seeing YM at the Aug. 28 Beijing event? (Otherwise I'd imagine they are too busy to just meet up casually.)
- "not sure when": YM and FSF will both be attending some type of event hosted by Harper's Bazaar I think? Lots of other stars too.

(I'm not holding out hope that they will show up together or be seated beside each other though...but all the event people keep putting their names together on the "guest list" to promote it, lol!)

Yes, LYF/HG will both be attending the Aug 28 event. However LYF/FSF will probably be promoting their "Hong Men Yan" movie together; HG is promoting his new movie too; not sure which one of her many movies YM might be promoting LOL. But yes, it would be great for all of them to meet up! ^_^

Not the sina weibo--LYF does not have weibo on Sina. I believe there are 3 main weibos: Sina, Sohu, and TX/QQ. YM has accounts on all of them; LYF as far as I know only has a sohu account. YM's sohu weibo is here: http://yangmi.t.sohu.com/. Sina is the most popular (so YM does almost all her weibo-ing on there, with the occasional one on TX/QQ; she actually rarely uses the sohu one--I believe the weibo chat she did back in Feb was on sohu however, and of course all her interactions with LYF are on the sohu one. LYF's actually the second-most popular weibo on Sohu--she has over 8 million followers, and only slightly less than YM's number of followers on Sina weibo.

But anyways LYF is very sweet and nice and YM's also a very warm person with people she knows well so I don't see why they wouldn't be friends. LYF is just boring to me, but there's nothing unappealing about her personality.

And seems like YM is good friends with a lot of people in the entertainment industry--many of the actors/actresses she works with she maintains good relations with. In fact she is part of 2 infamous "actress friend groups"--as JoleCole mentioned before she is the "7th sister" in the "Teddy Family/Teddy Sisters" (consists of 7 actresses including Qin Lan, Huo Siyan, Li Xiaolu, and Xiong Naijin). She's also a member of Qi Wei's "Hou Gong" (Qi Wei's beautiful ladies "harem" haha). Funnily enough this is also a group of 7 actresses, including Qi Wei, Yang Mi, Tang Yan, Dong Xuan, Tong Liya, Zeng Xiyi, and Zhang Jiani (newest member).

This fan went on set to visit one of them one day (forgot who) and to her surprise both YM/HG were together. Lol. (Not sure but I think it was HG visiting YM...as you can see she is in costume while HG has on a tracksuit.) Actually there were rumours quite recently (start of July) that a fan saw both of them meet up for dinner while they both happened to be in Hengdian--however there are no pics so this could be completely made up. At any rate I like to think that YM still keeps in contact with her CP3 friends, even if they have to keep it low-key due to the whole TR fiasco. At least now she can post up pics with YH without worrying!

And totally off-topic here, but I have been venturing outside of the FengMi thread lately and just started going into the movies thread (which is generally a very interesting read and most people there are quite reasonable--no bashing of actors/actresses). Except to my great amusement, I inadvertently found that one of the most popular threads (93 pages and counting) is titled: "If LYF and YM filmed a lesbian movie, will we explode??" It appears to consist 90% (ok maybe 100%) of guys fantasizing about the two of them together. LMAO. I almost died laughing at some of the stuff posted..."would watch even if I have no money for food", "won't buy junk food for a year if it means watching this", "won't buy clothes, just invite everyone to go watch". (Plus, some, errr, far more inappropriate comments and detailed imagined scenarios that I don't think I can post here, haha.) One guy decides the best plot would be him having both of them as girlfriends (with him cheating on both), then the two of them discover each others' existence and have an affair. And apparently there is a whole "Fei-Mi" ship out there (complete with photoshopped pics of course) that I was unaware of...Oh good lord...well I guess it was to be expected, it's probably the equivalent of a Angelina Jolie-Jessica Alba film in Hollywood. Anyways you can imagine how crazy these people went when they saw YM/LYF's messages to each other on LYF's bday--apparently they are calling it "YM publicly declares her love for LYF and LYF gets seductive with YM"...and then they start drooling over the idea of the possibility of a Fei-Mi "child/daughter", via some crazy genetic engineering that combines their two awesome gene pools. Oh dear, boys will be boys. Funniest thing I have read in ages. Well at least these guys have no qualms or fears about the two of them "ruining" their innocent images! XD

lol...mango cake, you're a very fair and open minded person. even though you don't care for lyf's real life personality, at least you defend her and say that she's sweet and warm towards those she knows. as for me, i can't get over her immodesty on boasting about knowing english well, going to enter the hollywood scene, and being convinced that she out did joey wong's performance in chinese ghost story. so it's nice to know that she has some redeeming qualities.

i don't want a fei-mi movie, can you imagine the war that will be restarted between their crazy fans? the boys' hormones will go wild and be oh so happy and while the girls duke it out in regards to who's a better performer and is more beautiful.
