If a major production or film was thinking of using YM, Karen's opinion isn't going to mean sh*t
If a major production or film was thinking of using YM, Karen's opinion isn't going to mean sh*t
it won't ruin an established star's career, but when actors are a dime a dozen, who would risk working with someone who is thought to be of as unprofessional and diva-ish?
like i said, ym back then said a lot of unnecessary and offensive statements which would hurt her, but i believe karen played a pretty sizeable role. if a production company suddenly drops you, that's a red flag for other potential producers/directors.
There are plenty of actresses bombarded with the diva-ish attitude (deserved or not) that still makes it big. The the actress/actor cannot even shine through such rumors, then maybe their talent should really be questioned (of course, unless you have favorable connections like some folks...then no rumors are going to affect anything)
Still, I think YM's string of bad productions that she took on was more of either bad decision making by her agency or she was just trying to take on too much (or some big shots were really trying to blacklist her). Karen's rage is probably the last thing on the list of explainations to make a difference...if she even made a difference at all.
BTW, where are my fellow FengMi shippers to bring happiness to this thread?
I'm with you about YM - she's not only the best in her generation in acting chops and screen charisma, but also has the most interesting kick-a$$ BTS/real-life charisma & personality! Just watch her interviews! The other new hua dan girls are much more rehearsed and cautious in their interviews in comparison, though YM's unpredictability and frankness did get her into trouble. Besides YM, I love LSS as well bcos she has this sweet down-to-earth nature plus her leading men are always so devastatingly HOT (yes, I'm shallow like that ). YM's leading men generally aren't as hot (sorry!).
Here's a funny photo to bring a smile! HXM looks like he's trying to grab LYF from behind but she's concentrating on YM
OK, HXM. The beautiful LYF finally gives you her attention

News today about the LUX mini-movie:
:You're right, we should all just get along.
And xiaolong, i agree that ym is deserving of good leading men. And yes, her star is finally shining bright on her! Next needs to be ady's turn and then i am hoping for more lu chen news.
Wait...were we fighting?
Sorry if I came across as belligerent...
In any case, XL is right. Past is the past. We should all look into the bright sunny future
I definitely agree that YM is the best in her generation! All the young actresses are quite beautiful, but YM really stands out to me and I don't really know why. She just has this charisma and aura about her, plus a personality that stands out! I find LYF gorgeous, but one interview really turned me off her. I might give her another chance, but to be honest she's only an average actress and she's pretty boring. LSS, I like, and I think she's really cute, pretty and likeable and she's in good projects. She makes me drawn to her too but her acting isn't that great yet, and as cute as I think she is, she's a tad bit boring. Tang Yan is gorgeous, and can act, and is my number two after YM. But Yang Mi just stands out, and she's always ranked on top in my list

Yang Mi, Liu Shi Shi, Tang Yan = my young golden three
No FengMi news today...these TV stations keep hanging on to the goodies! There was news they would release the FengMi backstage interview today but then they changed it to tomorrow, so sneaky! >_< Back when Yang Mi was not-so-famous a ton of her projects would not get released or get very delayed released for various reasons, now that she's famous half of her stuff STILL gets delayed--I bet because the TV stations are holding out to get better ratings. (e.g. her "The Story Behind" interview was released 5 months later; the "Gong" Happy Camp episode kept getting delayed until after the drama finished airing--usually they broadcast it before to promote the TV series but I guess they saw no need with Gong; HFCQ still shows no signs of airing...and now even this little tidbit they keep holding onto as long as they can. )
But, Yang Mi did attend a promo event for "Jing Cheng Si Shao" (I think the first round was broadcast on smaller TV stations, now it's getting a wider release. Some TV series go for this strategy, I think to get as much money from various TV stations as possible?). There are some cute pics I'll post soon! ^_^
Yes, people who hate YM will still hate and her fans will still love her. But it is everyone else that Karen's slandering will affect--i.e. people who were previously neutral towards her are likely to now have a bad impression of her, and it's a snowball effect because once this notion becomes popular, the media will keep picking out details/make up stories to support this too. So while we have no way of knowing whether Karen affected her career (YZ suggests she did but obviously he is not a trustworthy source), I'd say Karen definitely played a huge role in damaging YM's reputation (which actually, affects her career a bit too because actors are less likely to be casted when a lot of people dislike them). In terms of fan service, because of her rising popularity and young age, YM was bound to get haters anyways. People who diss YM after Karen's post probably didn't like YM to begin with and was just looking for an excuse. Whereas if you were a fan of YM, you would have defended her regardless.
Even if it was not all (or even partially, depending on your interpretation) due to Karen, it does sound to me like her career was being seriously affected by someone (or several people) in the industry. I don't find it hard to believe she did offend some major players. Look at the way she acted on Happy Camp (not the Gong episode, the previous one with JJF and the other guy). I personally found it hilarious but I still felt really sorry for the guy and would not blame him if he hated YM. Also look at the way she treated FSF at first when she disliked him--she herself admitted that she completely humiliated the guy during her long rant where she pretty much outright insulted his acting (just a note, she didn't say anything until FSF approached her to ask for her opinion and that's when she told it as she saw it...it's not that she just started bashing him out of the blue). If it were someone else you can bet they would be holding a grudge against her for that! (Fortunately, it seems like FSF likes those types and instead of hating her he went the opposite route. LOL.) She also said before that if she doesn't like you, she won't be doing any pretending that she likes you. And this is the YM that has "toned it down" a notch over the years! She is a sweet girl that has good intentions, but her outspoken nature no doubt got her in trouble.
Was Wallace even invited to MHZX? Anyways YM was the female lead in CP3 and got a bigger popularity surge; plus she seemed closest to the TR crew (e.g. being the only non-TR person to go to Egypt) so Karen probably took her "snub" pretty badly. I don't think Karen needs anything else on top of that to dislike YM so much--she just seems to be someone who holds a grudge over business decisions. e.g. I don't know the details myself so please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't she cut out a lot of Yuan Hong scenes from CtW after he left TR? (They seem to be back on good terms now though.) I've also heard some outrage from Wallace Chung fans because apparently she targeted him a bit too (due to him turning down a role? not sure). I think she learned from the YM incident not to burn all her bridges though so those cases did not get nearly as bad. Though I do agree that YM's management company probably handled the situation poorly too--clearly "Tian Xia 2" was a more lucrative promo for them than MHZX, but they probably could've rejected MHZX in a smoother way.Given how close YM and Tangren was previously, either YM or her agency must have done something to piss Karen off (more than just a simple rejection of Zhu Xian ad since Wallace Huo didn't participate and he didn't piss Karen off). Hence, I am also inclined to believe that Karen wasn't just making that stuff up in her blog post (just a lot of caramelizing for herself).
News update: YM is finished filming "Chun Jiao & Zhi Ming". She'll probably be heading to Wudang soon for the martial arts training for that movie. According to her management company she has been doing a bit of training already...they said she did a mini-demonstration for them and apparently she can do the splits now?! I will have to see it to believe it since she never seemed super flexible before...but ouch, must be hard to try to do them when you're 24! I remember trying to do them when I was like 13 (so way more flexible) and I gave up pretty quick because it huurrrrrrt.
"Jing Cheng Si Shao" promo event: (Her outfit is...interesting, I'm undecided whether it's "wacky-cool" or "wacky-weird")
The cast: Chi Shuai, Yang Mi, Li Qian, Zhou Jie, Fu Dalong (still mad at this dude for his horrible acting in that series, btw...the media seems to agree since there are barely any pictures of him )
The girls: Yang Mi, Li Qian, and I think the host? (Did they all pick out their outfits together...?)

This is funny: apparently Zhou Jie grabs YM's hand (he also held hands with Li Qian btw), saying "I dare to hold Yang Mi's hand!" Then he teases Chi Shuai, "Do you dare??" Chi Shuai gets embarrassed but says "of course I dare!" (errm, that one looks more like a handshake to me, honestly...)
(See, this is the difference between an actor who has never met FSF--I don't think?--vs. an actor who personally knows FSF and has collaborated with FengMi, and knows to keep his distance.
...Oops did my FengMi shipper thought escape again by accident? )

Since I am going into withdrawal after not getting the FengMi video I was promised (grrrr CCTV...) I'm just going to add this cute pic:
And this: taken by someone who was at the event (a worker? no idea) who went around taking pics with tons of the stars there.
This is what she posted along with the pic:
"Don't recognize the hot guy beside Yang Mi, but when he was being interviewed he kept holding onto Yang Mi, looked really sweet/lovey-dovey."
(First of all, has she been living under a rock?! And second of all, who cares because even someone who has no idea who they are can tell there's something fishy going on there!!! )
Also I just read an article about the JCSS promo event, at one point they say: "In the drama, Chi Shuai plays 'Du Lihan' who has a romance with Yang Mi's 'Bai Xue', challenging the 'FengMi romance'."
Hehe at them bringing up FengMi when JCSS has nothing to do with FSF. But this writer is not very trustworthy because s/he also says that Chi Shuai is recognized as being the actor most suitable for Min Guo styling (multiple hot actors and countless fan girls would vehemently disagree), and also writes repeatedly that Fu Dalong's acting is amazing/awesome/natural etc (EXCUSE ME?! all credibility lost there).

lol...mango cake, no one here at spcnet is as big of a fengmi shipper as you. i also find her outfit really weird-tacky at the promo event. sigh...she can dress better than that. but at least i like her hair and make up!

And I blame it ALLLL on JoleCole! If she didn't post all those awesome FengMi stuff I would still be happily hating on FSF and only paying attention to Yang Mi's career like I'm sure she wants. (Sorry Yang Mi! I can't help it when you two are so cute.)
(J/k JoleCole, I am eternally grateful for you introducing me to this wonderful world which has awesome new squee-inducing material every single day. How is that even possible, even my fictional OTPs were never this awesome--in fact most of them gave me more headache than they were worth! Seriously these two make me believe real-life is better than fiction after all...)
Funny article on JCSS:
While doing a search for YM and the JCSS event, I came across several hilarious articles from awhile back--all in the same vein about YM being a "diva" and refusing to do a kiss scene with Chi Shuai in JCSS. Now we know YM has definitely rejected kisses in her series, but only the additional ones (suggested by FSF haha)--the ones that were in the script she doesn't seem to have a problem with. Anyways there was not a single kiss scene between any of the actors in JCSS so it seems the director is just not into that kind of obvious displays of love, but of course the other actresses get no flak for it. (The closest kiss in JCSS was between Zhou Jie and his love interest, but the camera cut to black right before their lips met, lol.) The funniest article includes the following gems:
- "YM's agent says she refused the kiss because she did not think it suited the script." (This was actually a nicer way of saying it--other articles pretty much accused YM of being picky and only kissing actors she thinks are "good enough".) Another article actually named the supposed "agent", and it was debunked by YM in a weibo post where she jokingly said, "Where do all of these 'agents' pop out from?? How come there are so many people speaking on my behalf these days--so tragic, then what am I, can't even speak for myself now..."
- "In the past nearly every single one of YM's series have included a kiss scene, so why did she refuse this time?" Umm, I remember being surprised awhile back that out of the many series YM filmed, she only kissed 4 guys. (Maybe more in series that haven't been released?) Though granted she did have kiss scenes in all her popular series (CP3, MRXJ, Gong) so I give the writer a pass on this one. XD
- And the absolute best one of all: "people speculate the reason she rejected the kiss scene was because of FSF." LMAO. JCSS was filmed way before Gong filming, when YM/FSF barely even knew each other... I'd like to see the writer explain that one!
In terms of YM leaking the affair--is it possible? Sure. Is it logical? I'd even say, sure--if someone tried to ruin my reputation like that and I knew one of their dirty secrets, I myself would probably rant about it to my friends in private. Key word being, in private. In that scenario she still did not go public with it, YZ did--perhaps YM should've known better than to tell YZ that, but if it really was her who leaked it, I bet she learned her lesson now and keeps her mouth shut in front of YZ. On the other hand, I don't know if it's true what Karen said (something like only TR people knowing about the affair and they wouldn't leak it so must be YM?). First of all these things do have a habit of getting out, especially in the entertainment business, and second of all I'm sure there are other people who have had disagreements with Karen and may have decided to leak it. Basically, could go either way but honestly I don't care because YZ was the one who decided to play dirty and leak out info.
In terms of YM and MHZX: no contract was ever signed. According to Karen, YM's agent/management company led her on, making her believe that YM was going to participate in MHZX; however they kept delaying and delaying the actual signing of the contract and eventually said they were going with "Tian Xia 2" instead. (I believe at one point the company suggested YM do both and Karen was ok with that, but "Tian Xia 2" refused because they wanted exclusivity.) I find that part believable. (It's the part after that, where Karen insinuates that YM lied about many things during this process, that angers me...) Anyways if YM signed a contract I doubt she would break it--based on her commitment to perform her best even in the "crappy" series she stars in, and especially because she herself has been on the bad end of it (she said that there have been multiple times where she signed a contract for a role and even got the deposit money for it, but the production people later decided to use someone else instead, breaking the contract with her).
But yes, agreed on a TR hot men factor.

4 guys, who are the 4 guys that she have ever kissed?
2) Chen Kun in "Door" ("Men")
1b) Hu Ge in CP3
3) Mickey He in MRXJ
4) FSF in Gong
3b) Mickey in Gong
I heard she does have kiss scenes with Chi Shuai in the upcoming MingYun and she might have some in the other projects she's done recently so it's probably more than those 4 by now.
