that's actually a very thoughtful gift. i also would like to know what other valuables other artists are donating. it's interesting to learn what meaning these pieces mean to them.

lol.. oh man.. fengmi and YM fans are good. do they stay infront of the comp 24/7 or using a program that do auto refresh and taking snapshot of screen at the same time..? anyway it was a nice shot and thanks for sharing the pic.

btw. YM pic from her weibo. the colour of her face. maybe with a little pink there. it make me think of a peach.. lol.

Actually, most of the Huang Rong actresses have done a pretty good job with the character - even the most mediocre Huang Rong actress, Athena Chu, exuded a unique fresh charm in the role. So I wouldn't want to change any of them. This is a kind of role that will make any actress stand out. TBH, any kickass wuxia heroine role in a good action drama is a surefire swing for any actress - I don't get the impression such roles require deep acting skills, and most actresses of varying degrees of talent have been able to wow audiences as kickass wulin fighters, even in bit roles such as Kelly Lin in Reign of Assassin and Kara Hui in Wu Xia.

I would think the more difficult roles are the emotional ones (e.g. Ru Yi) especially for main central characters.

That's true--actually I've only watched 2 Huang Rong's--Zhou Xun and Ariel Lin (yes I know, I've never *gasp* watched the great old classic)--and I loved both of their portrayals! So by me wanting YM as HR, I don't mean that I wish she replaced either of them, it's just a purely selfish wish of my own to see her as one of my favourite wuxia heroines. But you're right, in terms of proving acting ability it's best for actors to move away from wuxia/idol dramas and participate in more serious dramas...but those are just usually not as fun and enjoyable to watch! ^_^ (I mean, Ru Yi seems so depressing I dunno if I will even watch it...)

Anyways, here's a scan of the Wang Zhaojun painting Yang Mi donated to the charity event: (click for a much larger pic; seems like it got distorted a bit though when they scanned it?)

The greyish "mark" under her right eye is the "flaw" added to the painting by jealous concubines in the drama...you can't see it very clearly here though.

This is the ONE TIME we want Yu Zheng to cast YM as the No. 1 lead in his drama (his SPW adaptation), and he casts Bai Bing instead? I guess she's under Yu Zheng's management. So it looks like rumours might be true - Bai Bing as RYY and Mickey He as LHC

I'm not sure if we can still hope he will change his lead casting.
OMG. Mickey He as LHC?! *faints* Not looking forward to Yuzheng & Mickey butchering my fave wuxia character!

I think she's pretty but boring...well her character in the myth was...and i felt her onscreen presence is lacking.

More kid YM pics!!! Yang Mi attended an event today (pics to come later) and somehow they managed to dig up even more childhood pics of her! ^_^

The first one we've already seen before (in better quality), the second one is a never-before-seen pic from the same set:

(Slightly bigger version of the third one...LOL is she wearing a funky wig??? Makes her look like a little doll though...)

This one is so cute and pretty:

More pics from the event: (of grown-up YM! )

Not sure what event this was for (seems like it's something related to the "Women's Day" health/fitness thing she was promoting awhile ago), but it was in Shanghai and her fans gave her another early bday celebration: (Her actual bday is Sep. 12, same day as Mid-Autumn Festival this year! She'll be in Hong Kong for an event.)

(I don't really think this hairstyle is very flattering for her face shape, though it really reminds me of her good friend Qi Wei's hairstyle! )

YM's fans gave her a "bouquet" of stuffed tigers! (By the Chinese Zodiac, Yang Mi is a tiger.)

    Cutting another birthday cake:

LOL what the heck is this...

    Few more...

Happy birthday to my favorite big foreheaded actress! May you continue to improve in your acting and wow everyone with you charisma, wit, and talent. Hope many great opportunities (love and career) come in your way and hopefully you get to rest this coming year.

Happy birthday to Yang Mi. And also happy Mid-Autumn Festival to her and everyone else!!! (How nice for her birthday to fall on such a holiday!)

Out of all the people who wished her a happy birthday, Yang Mi reposted and replied to 3 people: (from top to bottom, Tang Yan, Liu Shishi, and Jane Zhang...awww! Tang Yan's bday wish is especially cute--she laments that YM is the one she's always missing and thinking of but can never see, then asks YM to make a bday wish for her that the next time the two of them meet, they can have time to sit down and actually have a good chat. ^_^ YM replied: "Love you love you love you! Forever! Hugs and kisses!" To Liu Shishi she replied, "Thank you to my forever little sister". It seems like Jane Zhang was the only one who was able to celebrate YM's bday with her since she was the one that posted the pic of YM on her bday...)

I'm sure there are more to come tomorrow though since there's still 20+ hours of her bday to go!

For FengMi fans: (Bit more gushing from the FengMi fangirl in me...)

So both FSF's agent and assistant have wished Yang Mi happy birthday already but FSF himself has remained suspiciously silent...(so far....) But, what's really sweet of the FengMi fans: they set a goal to have 1314520 comments to FSF's 520 post by the time of Yang Mi's birthday. (If you guys recall, FSF made this post on May 20th, at exactly 13:14--the special symbolism of this time and date is because "520" sounds like "I love you" in Chinese while "1314" sounds like "for my whole life". So "1314520" means "I love you for my whole life". He also reposted this cat pic from YM's weibo so no one would have any doubt it was for her.) Anyways, FengMi fans completed their mission about 3 days ago. As the clock struck midnight on Yang Mi's bday, the weibo "chaoliu yingyu" made this post wishing her a happy bday. (This weibo basically posts English quotes, usually love-related, and the chinese translation; Yang Mi appears to love this weibo since she often reposts the stuff on it to her own weibo.) To all of FengMi's fans' delight (who weren't sure whether or not YM would even notice their hard work), she actually replied to this post only 21 minutes later!!!

YM's comment: "Thank you everyone "

(Once again, YM's shows her secret support and appreciation for all the FengMi fans! Fans also point out that the goal probably wouldn't be accomplished without FSF's help--back in August, the pacing of the comments had slowed down and it looked like the goal wouldn't be reached. Then on Aug. 09, FSF made a new post on his weibo saying, "I just happened to notice that one of my weibo posts has already reached 800000 comments! Thanks for everyone's support!" Again, a very non-obvious post but for all FengMi fans they knew exactly what he was referring to...and spurred on by FSF's encouragement, they picked up the pace again and managed 500000 additional comments in one month's time--an insane speed considering that the first 800000 comments, already a blistering pace, needed 2.5 months. Awww, see--even though YM, as well as FSF more recently, keep crushing the FengMi hopes publicly, they keep giving their fans these subtle shows of support in secret! ^_^ But no one except FengMi fans would pick on on it...)

Happy birthday to my first favorite actress who will always have a special place in my heart despite the million of other actresses that I love equally! Her messages are so sweet! And all her friends' messages have made me smile for real. TY, YH, Jane, LSS, it all makes me happy! So glad LSS and YM still maintain a close behind the scenes friendship! GOGOGO YM! May the next year bring you more happiness and success!

Heehee, me too...more of her friends have wished her happy bday this morning including:

Hu Ge (I bet GeMi shippers are thrilled right now LOL ), Jerry Huang (hey it's almost a complete CP3 "reunion" haha--LSS/TY/YH/HG/Jerry), Ruby Lin, Sun Li, Dong Xuan, Qi Wei, Tong Liya, Yao Di, Da Zuo, Cherrie Ying, Liu Yun, Li Chen, Guo Zhenni, Chi Shuai, Gan Ting Ting...among others. (Still suspiciously silent on the FSF front muahahaha... )

A lot of them told her to take a break and don't overwork herself...and her married friends (Dong Xuan, Cherrie Ying, and Liu Yun) are encouraging her to also get married/wishing her well in her love life LOL.

She's still working today though--YM's attending another event later so I'll probably update with pics tomorrow. ^_^

Edit: This conversation is too funny, had to share:

Cherry Ying: Happy birthday! Wish you well in dating/romance soon!
Liu Yun: Alright, dating/romance well wishes has already been said by you, guess I will have to wish Yang Mi marry herself off soon!
Li Ai: Looks like I can only wish for you to have kids soon...
Yang Mi: Next up is there anyone who will send me wishes for my kids to grow up soon?

Another funny tidbit: some of her friends jokingly call today a "honeymoon" day! (Because Mid-Autumn festival = the moon festival...put "Mi" and "Yue" (moon) together and you get "Mi Yue" = honeymoon! Cute!)

Perhaps she asked fsf not post anything to keep up with the friends only facade.

I'm going to join in the mini-discussion. I actually think Du Chun is going to be the male lead. He's the new favorite with Allure Snow and Palace 2. He has experience in wu xia. He has star power and acting skills to draw people in.

    Here's a screencap:

    Roughly translates to:

FSF: Happy birthday (to YM)! Brother Yang, Auntie (YM's parents), happy mid-autum festival!

YM: Thanking you on behalf of my parents, giving you a deep bow, Uncle Feng!

FSF: Good girl, you really give me face today. Uncle thanks you too.

And a happy 25th to YM! May she be even more radiant & successful (not to mention, in good health) for the coming year.

Anyways, I read that YM is going to start work on her new album(?) soon and one of the songwriters for her album will be HK's Eason Chan.
