Yes, ym's stardom came with many challenges which she overcame on her own, and that makes her all the more admirable to me. I don't hate lss...as a matter of fact, i used to like her. I just don't like that she hides behind tr and cannot even stand up for her friendship with ym. Wasn't hu ge the only one who stood up for ym during the tr- karen fiasco? But hearing how much better of an actress lss has become and knowing that avoiding her means avoiding some fun costume dramas i will get around to checking out her series again. Plus, it helps that she is hardworking and humble. I just find ym's stardom more deserving as it was done through her own merits without the help of anyone backing her up. And i admire ym for being more open with her friendship...just wish she was more open about her relationship with fsf.

Good news! 命运交响曲 Ming Yun Jiao Xiang Qu (YM's new modern series with FSF, Chi Shuai and Guo Zhenni) will air on Anhui TV on 2 Oct 2011.

True, although Hu Ge was really the only one who could "afford" to stand up for her...because he's their #1 star, they wouldn't do anything to him. But the rest of the TR actors, well, they didn't have a "stable" position themselves yet, so they can't offend TR. As for FSF, I definitely understand why she keeps it private--the media are already crazy right now, can you imagine what would happen if they went public...at least right now the rumours are more "benign"--i.e. "are they dating?" Whereas the moment they make it official, the media would probably spend all their time making up rumours about them breaking up etc. Just a lot of unnecessary stress/pressure, not to mention increased focus on their personal lives rather than their careers. But that does bring me to another little FengMi tidbit of the day--however, this one may or may not be true so take it with a HUGE grain of salt...I wasn't even going to post it at first but it is just TOO cute not to share (even if we have no proof it's true), but I'll keep it under spoiler tags: (Edit: to view, click on the "Reply with Quote" button under this post, then you can scroll down and see the text between the spoiler tags.)

Sorry, it seems like SPCnet's spoiler tags have been malfunctioning for awhile now as clicking does not work! You have to click the "Reply with quote" button under my post--then you can read what's typed there. ^_^

Btw, perhaps I've gone a bit overboard and give a skewed perspective since I tend to take FengMi as a given--but actually (to put things back into perspective a bit) it seems like YM's repeated denial has been quite convincing for a good portion of her fans--I noticed in the rather more "rational/logical" movie forum, most people appear to believe Yang Mi that there is nothing going on between her and FSF (however, it seems like "shipping" in general is frowned upon in that forum so perhaps the supporters are just keeping quiet in there, lol...also I imagine half the people there are guys who would obviously prefer YM to be single (or paired up with LYF lmao) so they obviously wouldn't want to see the FengMi evidence!) But yeah, in media reports they are still an "are they/aren't they item"--even a chunk of FengMi fans waver back and forth between believing if they're together or not. Though I find it telling that so many people--who are not diehard FengMi fans--mention on weibo things like, "after seeing them together I am convinced!" (like the weibo post I mentioned in my previous post; the girl actually said, she keeps seeing FengMi mentioned as a "possible couple" together on TV and was always curious about the truth--and now after seeing them herself, she thinks it's highly likely that it's true! ).

Edit: Another slightly lower-quality screencapture from DQZD...I can't believe the DVD is out in Japan already!!! >_< I'm almost tempted to ask a friend in Japan to buy it for me...wonder if there are Chinese subtitles?? Wish the Japanese viewers could release a video clip at least, so I could see if they kept the Chinese voices or dubbed them over in Japanese...

Latest Yang Mi news: she completed work on her album yesterday. It sounds like she has started training for "Da Wudang" as someone (a director I think?) commented on their weibo how hard she was working during the martial arts training. The person praised her highly for her determination and talent. She'll probably continue training over the next while; however, there is also news that Yang Mi will be flying to Italy on Sep. 21 to attend some fashion shows during Milan Fashion Week!!! Apparently she was invited by a major fashion magazine?? (I'd actually read this news in the Baidu forums awhile ago but it was just someone "leaking" a bit of info without much proof, but sounds like it's pretty official now.) I don't know if we will actually get pictures but I am excited for her that she is getting a chance to at least attend these major international events (Milan fashion week this year and maybe the Grammy's next year!).

Apparently the broadcast date has been pushed back one day to October 3rd. Will be interesting to see FengMi's collaboration in a modern-day drama! It's a pity we haven't gotten too much promotional stuff for MingYun yet--there was a small event awhile ago but neither YM nor FSF could attend, I guess they're too busy these days. It sounds like they want to plan another event to promote the series right before it starts airing but unsure if YM/FSF have time for that either...

New MingYun still: (I read somewhere a long time ago that while filming this scene, they had to keep redoing it because FengMi kept messing it up by walking too close together or something, LOL! )

A BTS (?) pic released by Lux:

Glad to hear that! ^_^ Actually there are lots more little snippets from random people on weibo etc who have seen them...but I usually don't post them since we don't know if it's true. e.g. during MingYun and Hua Pi 2 filming, people who visited the set noticed that sometimes, one of them finished filming for the day but the other person still had scenes. So the person who finished would pretend to leave the set, but actually they'd just drive away and wait in a more secluded area, then after the other one also finished they'd drive away together... Again take these tidbits with a grain of salt though!

...Well even if FengMi don't do any promo for it at least it seems like we'll be getting plenty of MingYun related pics in the next few days leading up to the broadcast date! They just released another HQ FengMi still:

And more: (This one might be an old one--it looks familiar--but cute nonetheless...and whoa maybe it's just the angle but YM's arm/hand look tiny compared with FSF's in this pic! O_o)

So much hand-holding in this series!!!

Great! Finally another FengMi onscreen pairing after 9 months of waiting.

But to be very honest, I'm not so sure it's a good idea to keep wanting them to pair up onscreen repeatedly within such a short period of time. Because after Ming Yun, there will be Hu Fu and HP2 which will come out within the next year (probably)? So four of the same pairings to come out within 2 years...I do think they should have a break of 2 years, like GeMi who have been paired twice, but people are hyped again for another pairing as it's been awhile since CP3.

It hasn't struck me that she hasn't been paired with Wallace Huo. Though I'd still prefer to see another FengMi or GeMi & definitely HongMi over HuoMi as I can see the previous 3 pairings having really interesting BTS interviews and weibo cross-chats that can spill over to how fans perceive their onscreen rapport. I do appreciate Wallace's good acting skills, but he's not as interesting to me. Same with Hawrick Lau, though I do appreciate Hawrick for cracking a sly joke about FengMi, LOL.

I'd like to see her paired up (soon!) with Du Chun.

However, I think this was probably the media taking her words the wrong way or purposefully asking her the question to set a "trap", since I can't imagine LSS saying that the way the article made it out to be.
Here's one of the articles that quotes LSS. The headline itself ("LSS doesn't want to become more popular by stirring up romantic rumors; On taking Bu Bu she has zero interactions with YM") is purposefully misleading in order to be provocative. For example, it twists LSS's words on not having discussed the character of Ruoxi with YM to mean they had "zero interaction" since she took on the role. But it has her original quote regarding the "chao fei wen" issue:

    “这种事就演员本身不会瞎说,至于其他人会不会炒作,我们不敢保证。”刘诗诗还告诉记者,“其实演员在这方 面很无奈、也很被动,不过这部戏是我们公司拍的,公司向来对艺人很保护,绝对不会拿这些来炒作 。”
"In these cases actors won't make stuff up, but we can't guarantee that others won't do it. We're powerless in these cases because we're the passive party. Fortunately in my case, our company is protective of its artists and wouldn't stir up rumors to hype the show."

The original question is asking her if she would stir up romantic rumors with her onscreen partners the way YM and FSF did. The question itself is loaded against YM/FSF in a purposefully provocative way, and it's clear from the answer that LSS is trying to defend YM, not characterize her actions as "chao fei wen" (that's what the interviewer assumed). She's saying YM and FSF have little control over what others write about them.
I'm not sure what there is to find fault with in the response if people actually read it rather than just the headlines, even if it's an answer to a loaded question. The only people I can imagine it offending are the FengMi who'd only have been satisfied if LSS said YM/FSF is real rather than a media creation.

If LSS were smart enough to protect herself, she should have responded point blank that the reporter was trying to stir up trouble, and refused to answer the question as it was framed. But she's never been assertive to that degree in front of the media.

I only saw clips and pics from YM's Xiao Qian, but I always thought this was her most beautiful role, even moreso than Guo Xiang. Those who say she needs bangs to look good should take a look at it, as her look was just gorgeous here.

Thanks ailinon for the explanation--I've only read bits and pieces of some BBJX news reports so I didn't read the details of that one, but I pretty much figured it was the media twisting things like usual. Must be hard for LSS to try to stay "neutral" in her responses all the time and avoid offending either side. And yup, YM as Xiao Qian was so beautiful...although IMO in terms of looks/styling XQ is third behind her Wang Zhaojun and JCSS looks. XD

Thanks so much Cesare! Unfortunately it's not working for me right now. >_< I'm going to keep trying again later...

Probably true...but at this point I feel like I've been waiting forever for a second FengMi pairing so I will gladly take everything I can get!!! (Although...really it's only been 4 months for me, since I didn't watch Gong till May, lol.) I'll worry about FengMi onscreen overexposure next year. :P At least all their collaborations are completely different in style, so each one will hopefully bring us something new and exciting! As for Wallace and Hawick, I also thought they were both the "straight-laced" (maybe a bit "boring") types but after watching Hawick's Ru Yi interview he actually seemed to have a really good sense of humour! Maybe Wallace would surprise us too.

New MingYun still (click for huge version)

Seems like it's a different angle of this previously released still:

Yang Mi in the streets of Milan: (Apparently holding a YSL clutch and wearing a Burberry trenchcoat, as ID'd by her fans.)

I'm so glad she gets to take a bit of time off work (well, guess you can argue attending these events are also part of "work") and enjoy a mini-break outside of China! Bet she's glad she can walk in the streets anonymously again! ^_^ Looking forward to more pics tomorrow of her at the actual runway shows...

Haven't seen many pics of Wang Zhaojun, so I'm less familiar with the role, though I love the Han dynasty style in general. What does JCSS stand for?
She also looked adorable as Dun'er in Imperial Study, I thought.

    Purty!

EDIT (in response to snowyjasmine): I think I still prefer Xiao Qian's look to Wang Zhaojun's. I like her braided hair look in the fourth picture you posted (same as the last one in post #4622) the best out of all of them.

JCSS stands for Jing Cheng Si Shao, where she played a nightclub singer. I haven't watched it so I'm not familiar with it. She was SO gorgeous as Wang Zhao Jun even though I haven't officially watched that either lol.

Thanks for the updates mango, YM looks really stylish & classy in the Milan pics...though I guess celebs will tend to dress as sophisticated as possible whenever they attend events like fashion week. Even Gao Yuanyuan, who usually dresses very simple & casual, was almost unrecognizable in her branded outfits & chic hairstyle/accessories while she was in NYC for fashion week.

Yes, they kind of have to go full out whenever they attend any international event--otherwise they'd be totally beaten down by the media/general public. I mean, the Chinese are super conscious of not being "inferior" to foreigners and for once want their stars to look as "diva-ish" as possible. I actually thought YM looks pretty stylish in her Milan pics, especially considering it's her first international outing...but even with this I saw a few comments (minority though--pretty sure it's by YM haters) that she doesn't have the looks, "fan" (loosely translates to "star-power"/presence), or sophistication to carry off these looks and should just stay at home, LOL.

There are a couple more shots of her in Milan gradually being released that I'll post up tomorrow. Turns out YM was invited by the Italian magazine Grazia (didn't even know they had any presence in China). Some guy representing the magazine announced on weibo that they invited her to attend shows by Gucci, Fendi, Versace, and Alberta Ferreti.

Oh yes, Dun'er! I'd forgotten about that one--that's another nice look from her innocent and carefree earlier days... XD Makes me want to go back and attempt that series again (I got bored around episode 11/12 and stopped watching last time). I thought she did a great job playing a demure and intelligent Qing dynasty "xiao jie" (what a huge difference from her other Qing dynasty series!). Actually I think while her idol-drama roles like Xuejian and Qingchuan made her very popular among the younger generation (therefore those are what seem to be more popular on the internet), it's actually her Dun'er and Wang Zhaojun roles that are probably more famous among the older viewers, since both were big CCTV "zheng ju" (i.e. proper historical-style series). e.g. I've seen my grandparents watch "Shang Shu Fang" on TV (and also "Di Ren Jie" where YM plays the villain; these are just what I happened to come across during times when I went home). Though they probably don't actually know who she is, since obviously they don't follow the celebrity news, haha! Still, it's good for her to get exposure to audiences in all different age groups. (This is an area where I think Hu Ge could improve on by expanding into a few "proper" series--e.g. even though he has huge starpower among the younger generation, I was surprised that my mom hadn't even heard of him when I brought him up! >_<) I can't wait for YM's other 2 "zheng ju" (DQZD and HFCQ) to finally air.

As for JCSS: stands for Jing Cheng Si Shao. YM has several gorgeous looks in there. I was always so mad about Director Li Shaohong making her extract 4 teeth and I thought she'd never look as pretty as she did before the teeth removal--however JCSS was the one that proved me wrong. A few of her Western-style gowns seemed to draw inspiration from Audrey Hepburn--an article actually compared some of her looks to Audrey's. She also had a number of lovely Asian qipao's in the drama as well.

It's a drama set in the Min Guo time period about 4 sons in a rich family that were separated in their childhood; it's actually a remake of an older TV series that was highly popular in the early 90s. Yang Mi plays the role of "Bai Xue", the most famous "courtesan" in a brothel in Beijing (although her character is one of those courtesans who only sing/dance/accompany men for drinks, not sleeping with them like the others). She actually has a secret agenda, which is to use her status as a courtesan to get close to high-ranking officials, so she can get revenge on the person who was responsible for murdering her entire family when she was little. Her character is quite tragic as she ends up being consumed by her revenge/hatred and sacrifices everything for that purpose. Although Yang Mi is the female lead, she actually doesn't have much screentime in the series--there are multiple storylines going on in the series with pretty much equal focus on each brother/storyline, but I thought she made all her scenes count.

I might do a picspam of her looks in there sometime! ^_^

Preview clip of MingYun is out! http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMzA1OTczNTA0.html

Edit: Forget that one, watch this one instead (it's the full 3-min version; the previous one has the second half cut off for some reason)

(Not gonna lie, I watched the FengMi parts about 5 times already even though it's only like 10 seconds. >_< Cute!!! I'm not even a fan of modern idol dramas but...I admit I was squeeing at their scenes.) Since it's a modern series the voices aren't dubbed over like ancient series. ^_^ ROFL at the fact that there isn't even a single scene of Chi Shuai in the preview even though he probably has more screentime than FSF, lol...(though probably they will show him in later clips since he doesn't appear in the first half).

So turns out Anna and Anqi are twin sisters--I was wondering about that since it's usually just one kid in China. But I wonder about FSF's character's sister then--maybe it's just his cousin not actually his sister? From the clip Anqi/Anna kinda remind me of Blair/Serena from Gossip Girl a bit--sweet Anqi gets the attention of the photographers and the boys without even trying, while Anna gets sick of always being "second best" and seems more "scheming"...yet they still have a strong sisterly bond. (Although I hope Anqi is a more likeable character in here because I liked Blair way better than Serena--of course this was before GG's storyline totally went off the rails into bizzaro-land, lol.)

I think it was the series she did right after ROCH. So, maybe when she was 19/20?

Edit: Just went to look it up. I found an article from Sep. 04, 2005 about WZJ saying it had already started filming for some time. So, that makes YM 18 to 19 when she filmed it.
