Germany or France. I would be going for France since I like that bald assassin, Zidane and I want to oppose my froend Kate who is a big German fan. Too bad Spain got knocked out

Nice posts Long. I bet you couldn't keep a straight face typing those up. That bit about Kaka was nice :P

mind if i joined ur club? i've been silently fuming wanting to talk about the world cup with someone too...but i never scrolled down far enough to see this section untill today...my mouse went psycho.

so...who do we want to win?

i keep my fingers cross for France and Germany to get through. Down with Italy!!!

    it should have been Australia!!!

anyway, watching both France and Germany play, i have to admit the French has either been playing extra hard with the Brazillians or they were slacking off in the other matches cos they weren't tat superb before.

Germany on the other hand, had an alround impressive tournamant. they manage to score in every game.

but then the French did beat the Brazillian's...reigning world champion's with their star stubbed line up's...and kaka (dreamy kaka)...but they have Zidane...one of the few two footers soccer player in the world, with his impressive foot work.

who do u think is going to win?

    Germany lost.
What for a game. In the last 2 minutes 2 goals. That was a thriller.
And I thought we'll see another exciting penalty shoot drama.

I think, we'll see Italy vs. France in the final.

And... Portugal get the 3rd place
I do believe that Portugal has better players compared to Germany

Default The Lesser of Two Evils

Germany versus Italy. The world held a collective 'yawn' at the prospect of this Semi-Final clash. Fans could hardly be excited at this match-up given that both teams have combined for a grand total of 7 penalty shoot-outs in major tournaments since 1990 (Italy - 90,94,98,2000 and Germany 90, 96, 2006).

"Change the rules to allow wins to be decided by a toss of a coin", a spectator was heard yelling at a local pub in Munich as the two captains met for the customary toss of the coin.

Perhaps this is the only reasonable way to decide the outcome of the match for teams who boast on average a measly 0.8 goals per match at major tournaments since 1990. "Will we even see a goal today", yelled someone else in the crowd as the matched lingered on and on, and on....

With the dreaded penalty shoot-out looming for an 8th time for these nations, the soccer gods watching above decided to intervene and save the world of more agony. Two sensational goals they ordered. One to Grosso the central figure in the controversial penalty awarded against Australia in the round of 16 clash and the other to Alessandro Del Piero.

So at the end of the day the lesser of two evils advance and Italy can thank god for the win and their lucky escape.

Jürgen Klinsmann – the man who is known more for his diving then his goal scoring abilities could only watch from the sidelines displaying the same kind of theatrics of his playing days. If he could only somehow manage to get onto the pitch and slump to the ground. Surely the referee would award him a penalty for trying.

But as they often say “cheaters never win” though Klinsmann defied this saying at Italy 90, it has come back to haunt him in 2006. Strange how fate and paybacks work…

And win they did ! 1-0

Vive La France! The last 2 minutes of the game was really hard-pounding, the French did well with their defense, but they definitely played worse than they did against Brazil and the French certainly must play better if they want to win the World Cup in the Final against Italy, Bartez sucks and against Italy, he must learn how to stop/catch the ball better, otherwise a goal or two will be scored by the Azuris

The Portugese was unlucky once again, they had their chances with attacks especially the last 10 minutes of the game, what happened to Deco and Pauletta ? Only Ronaldo played well and Figo showed his age. The Portugese paid their price for diving too much and the Referee didn't buy it today. Better luck someday Portugese!

I hope the French will step it up against Del Piero and the gang.

Lukas Podolski is the best young player of the World Cup 2006...

I think Cristiano Ronaldo is better, but he did so many awful things, and not playing with fair play which causes him the award.

Im confuse. I saw all the games and Podolski didnt really stand out at all. Ronaldo is a much better choice, or a guy like Tomas Rosicky should be the better choice as well.

I didn't see Podolski do much of anything. The goals that he scored were set up by Klose. Ronaldo and Figo pretty much carried their team to the semifinals.

I think Rosicky was too old for the award.

In terms of performance, Cristiano Ronaldo was the best, but come on, how can you give him an award after his performances?

I think he can't stay in England and play at the Premiership, he would be whacked whenever he go out.

I watched the repeated broadcast of the match between Germany and Portugal few hours ago. I watched from 22-28 minutes and that was when I could not go on watching anymore.

Reason being the camera showed nothing but Portugal's captain Pauleta. I don't have anything against the guy but I have absolutely no idea why the camera keeps following him, having his closeups all the time. I can't see where the ball went, who's kicking it, who's in possession during that six minutes and why? Because the camera was focusing on Pauleta. Apparently the closeups of Pauleta was more important than showing what's going on in the field.

I got more irritated as the minutes slips by and finally at the 28th minute, I switched the tv off.

    Who won, btw? The Germans?
