Sheng Le Wen (Kristy Yang) is a hotel manager for many years; her dream is to open a HK restaurant with her boyfriend Qiao Li Hang (Chilam) in Shanghai. The couple comes to Shanghai with 2 million dollar and stay in the house of their buddy Bao Jia Long (deng Jian Hong). Jia Long comes from HK's high society, and also a "Shanghai Expert," and an apparent consultant for Li Hang. However the guy comes and goes without telling, so that leaves his girlfriend Cheng Ling (Fan Bingbing) to play host for the couple. After Li Hang is settled, Le Wen leaves him to the care of Cheng Ling and returns to HK.

Li Hang is ambitious about his business plan in Shanghai; unfortunately, his money is stolen by Jia Long who then disappears without a trace. Li Hang and Cheng Ling both go on searching, but with no avail, and worst of all, Jia Long hadn't pay rents in months, so the landlord kicks out both of them. Li Hang has nothing on him and is kicked out from the hotel, but taken in by Cheng Ling. The two move into an old house of Jia Long's, and hoping that he will return soon. And the relation btw the two becomes a bit interesting as days go by under the same roof.

Li Hang doesn't want Le Wen to be worried so he doesn't tell her about the missing money and lies that their business plan is going well until the straightforward Cheng Ling breaks the news to her. Le Wen arrives and wants Li Hang to return to HK with her. But Li Hang doesn't want to go back as a failure and decides to stay in Shanghai for other business opportunity.

Le Wen meets Wen Hao, an overseas returnee who's fall in love with her and is ready to confess his love until his company assigns him to his new job in Shanghai which happens to be Ding Li, a real estate company where Cheng Ling works. With helps of Cheng Ling, Li Hang is hired by the company and his outstanding performance is recognized by Wen Hao, the newly arrived manager. So Li Hang is a roommate plus a co-worker of Chen Ling's. While the relationship btw the two deepens, Jia Long returns! And begins a tumultuous world.

Li Hang becomes Wen Hao's right-hand man but unfortunately the two guys are drawn into an office politic, and Cheng Ling is also punished. The three are demoted to be in charge of selling a hard-to-sell estate, but together, the three create a company miracle by breaking a sale record. Li Hang finds out Wen Hao likes Le Wen accidentally, and is feeling a bit uneasy while his own feeling for Cheng Ling only gets stronger after being through hardship together, but because of Jia Long, the two tried to repress their feeling but the love only burns brighter. Le Wen comes to Shanghai and is shocked to learn the news and finds a temporarily shelter in Wen Hao. Wen Hao is a gentleman and knows that she's Li Hang's girlfriend and won't allow himself to pursue his subordinate’s girlfriend, but longer he sees her, the more he likes her. And Le Wen also feels the chemistry btw the two. Hence begins a world of pentagonal love relation.

Cheng Ling has no intention to break up Li Hang and Le Wen, and tries to reunite the couple, while she decides to leave. She's moved by Jia Long's confession and accepts his marriage proposal. Le Wen has also persuaded Li Hang to return to HK and get married. And everything seems to be settled.

The real estate company is eager to do business with Mr. Ma who happened to be Li Hang's friend, an old gentleman he befriended in his low point of life, and under encouragement of Mr. Ma, Li Hang decides to stay in Shanghai to fulfill his ambition. And the decision leaves Le Wen disillusionary and breaking up seems inevitable. And Wen Hao is there again to offer his support, and Le Wen wonders if Wen Hao is her Mr. Right, but she is also unready for let go a 7-year relation with Li Hang.

Cheng Ling is busy preparing her wedding, Jia Long had promise her a bride's perfect wedding until he learns his business partner has just passed away and his money is withheld by the bank. To fulfill his promise, he accepts the financial help of Li Hang's enemy in the company. The guy asks him to steal confidential documents from Li Hand and Wen Hao, but Jia Long is unwilling to hurt his friends, so with helps of Li Hang, the business espionage is exposed.

But Wen Hao is tired of battling in the business world, and asks Le Wen to leave with him for Yun-nan, but Le Wen rejects him. Li Hang sees the hopeful sight in his relation, but Le Wen is not longer the same, the love of 7-year has eventually burned out.


Jai Long finally gets his access to the money, but also receives the news that his grandpa is seriously ill. Cheng Ling stands by his side during this difficult period, but she knows in her heart that Li Hang is her true love. But their relation hasn't progress with Le Wen's departure. And worst, Mr. Ma witnesses Li Hang kissing Cheng Ling who he thinks is the fiancée of Jia Long, and withdraws his business deal with Li Hang, and leaving him to face both career and love uncertainties ...

There were rumors that Julian doesnt end up with anyone. From the storyline, I am leaning towards him ending up with Fan Bing Bing because of the hardship that they go through together. In my opinion, a relationship has to go through hardship in order for it to grow stronger, though Kristy is not to blame.

from various news i know for sure that chilam does not end up with kristy. there was news that described a scene where kristy broke up with chilam. in the scene chilam's character was not supposed to cry, he was just supposed to sad. but chilam was really into character and he actually cried. he said that it was because his character still loved kristy's character very much, because she was his one true love.

there was another news that detailed a wedding between chilam and fan bing bing. but it also said that on the day both had cold feet. i think that they didn't end up getting married, but the news didn't specifically say.

from my guesses, its either chilam is alone or he ends up with bing bing, although he still truely loves kristy.
