I agree, even if the other form (the printing thing) is cheaper. I'd only take it as a LAST resort. I'd really love to have an actually book version. I would give just about anything for an English version of it... Even if it's coming out in volumes instead of a 1,000 or so page book I'd still buy it! I want to get it published. I've even gotten my friends interested in the book.Originally Posted by fox-s

*sigh*If only I could get my great-uncle to sponser this....

This is my actual reason for publishing it officially:
Since Jin Yong wrote this novel, I'd like to credit him accordingly through publishing the novel officially in book-form. That would also allow Chinese-illiterate folks to be aware of such a story, aware of other similar stories and then aware of Wuxia fiction. Wuxiapedia is mostly for those already aware of Wuxia or for those clowns who can't understand Chinese properly but still want to read (like me before I started translating ).
The bottom line is :
Respect intellectual property.
I agree, I really think Jin Yong also deserves world recognition. He is already famous yes but still many people dont know who JY is and what his works are so if publishing this translation of his work will let people know how great JY is then its worth a try. I know its like kinda dreamy but everyone here owe JY our great reading pleasure. Its just what I think anyway.Originally Posted by IcyFox
wouldnt it be better to finish and publish the LOCH translation first?
cause otherwise new readers will be really confused when they start reading ROCH. The connection between these 2 books is pretty strong..
then you could publish the whole trilogy
anyway, good job; i think this new trend of gathering a team to translate 1 book is awesome hopefully when my chinese gets better i can join in.. everything translated on spcnet is top quality, unlike the "official" translations
I agree, finish LOCH first, but continue to pursue the publishing options. Maybe by the time that translation is really sailing (??) there'll be a plan in place. (With JY's blessings of course.)Originally Posted by danshu_
Please don't wait until your Chinese is better ... I am a living proof that being a chinese illiterate I can contribute something. If you have a willing heart, contact me, I'll share my way of translating things. FYI, William is also looking at the possibility of doing it, and according to his own confession, his chinese is about the second grade student. It was not possible in the past, but now we have the amazing internet to help us.Originally Posted by danshu_
The more people working on LoCH, the quicker the translation will be. Please consider it.
(I am trying to recruit more translators here ... )

What!? Are you saying that you can translate without knowing how to read and write chinese? How'd you do that?
Jin Yong wrote the novel he deserves much credit. If not for him we'd not have the LoCH series....
So... YAY JIN YONG!!!!
Any news on getting it published?

Well how about all the contributors in the translation get together and vote for it. After all, they are the one who sweat for it.

I really miss Bee... I never knew Noodles so I can't say anything, but if you read the posts and stuff it feels like you get to really know them. So no one's been able to get into contact with either of them... How long has it been since their last visit? I just really wish there was some way to get to them!!
...but even more so I wish to have the book published!

Don't know about Noodles but I know Bee felt quite guilty about giving up the translation.Originally Posted by Da Bao
