i think he has more of an unconventional look.

his only gf documented by the press was his ex german girlfriend. the rest were purely speculation like dong jie and zhao lin, i believe. but that was years ago. and if you are an astute observer, u probably may have noticed that his name Aloys, has Germanic origins

at the moment, i don't think he is dating.... it is nonstop work.... hard to tell though he is intensively private, he doesn't even blog like many celebrities do nowadays.

but there was 1 time he was asked what was your most romantic moment? the replywas he isn't a romantic person at all..... prefers simple gestures like walking and holding hands....his most unforgettable memory was when his gf flew from a far distance to visit him. He was late picking her up from the airport since he was involved in filming. By the time he got there, he saw her sitting cutely on top of her huge luggage .... somehow this memory and image became ingrained into his mind...even though it wasn't romantic at all

he has never tried to hide the fact that he has a temper, like most chongqing natives. must be their chilli based diet. he can be very direct at times even to the people he barely knows, he says whatever he feels like saying and doesn't like pretending to be diplomatic or having a false sense of modesty. but u take the bad with the good, he can cook among other things.

i'm positively surprised there are 10,000 views for this thread, must be a mistake, he is virtually unknown to the english speaking audience, guess some people still bothered to come here. hopefully there is a tiny space out there, dominated by hk, tw, kor and jp stars and matinee idols, for an unconventional looking yet talented mainland artiste.


CK's life story while full of sadness, is also inspiring and interesting, and deserved to be told. i mean i am one who respects and admires a person who has to overcome so many obstacles and misfortunes in his life to earn everything the tough way. maybe because I'm the exact opposite, i was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, never having to worry about anything much. the only thing we have in common is that we are both from single parent families but I'm more fortunate in that mine is well to do. however, Ck's family was very poor, his dad left them when he was young....he was left to his relatives to be brought up....and thought of his mum all the time.... and as the eldest male, he had to shoulder the main responsibilty of keeping the fam with 3 kids together. He dropped out of school to earn money, working as a waiter, nightclub singer, odd jobs et al. On his mum's birthday, he was so happy he could get a cake for her. she would later remarry and start another family. when he made it big, he brought the new family to live with him in beijing. his sister who was close to him would also perish in a car crash. in an interview he cried when he was asked about her. this was in yi shu ren sheng, the tv program that is notorious for trying to squeeze out tears from the interviewee.

when he was working as a nightclub singer, he met his music teacher, his most cherished elder and benefactor. she recommended him to join "Dong Fang Ge Wu Tuan", a professional cultural singing and dancing troupe. He got in successfully and learned to sing japanese and indian cultural songs. Then his friend persuaded him to apply to the beijing film academy by agreeing to pay the application fee for him. he wasn't so keen cuz he wanted to earn money rather than spend on school fees and he preferred singing. but he eventually relented... CK got in but his friend didn't. During his time there, he had to work to pay the fees and only slept a few hrs a day. Interestingly, at that time he wasn't interested in acting at all even though he was the top male applicant, zhao wei was the top female applicant....after graduation, he was accepted to study designing in Europe and almost left if not for a last minute casting decision by the director, zhao baogang to act as the lead in Symphony of Rain. the rest is then history.....
everything he did, he had to work for, he doesn't have an influential management company to back him up, he did not come from a rich background nor does he have connections with big time directors. He became well known in china not from starring in a tw idol series, a big budget jin yong wuxia series or a qiong yao weepie but a series based on a zhang henshui novel nobody really heard of. I'm glad he got the chance though....

I have just recently become a fan of Chen Kun. I first saw him in the Conquest and since then, I've watched Jin Fen Shi Jia and the Knot. I am currently watching Symphony of the Rain. I think he's a pretty talented actor with a lot of potential. I'd really like to see more of him and to learn more about him but unfortunately I am not Chinese so it is extremely hard for me to find any info or pictures or videoclips about him. That's why I often come to this thread, hoping to catch some glimpses of recent news or pictures about him. So, thank you everyone who has been posting news and pictures about Chen Kun, I really appreciate it!

Nelly: you've mentioned that you had the intention of making an English website or forum about Chen Kun. c13:4567: Thank you very much for all the info you've posted on Chen Kun regarding his life's story. He has had such a hard life both economically and emotionally. As someone who has been fortunate all my life, I now really have a newfound respect and admiration for him. It must have taken a lot of hard work, strength, determination and talent to get to where he is today. I just hope that his life would run smoothly from now on and that he's happy =)

It must have hurt him a lot about his sister's death, especially how it said that they were very close.. He's very comitted and talented to be able to be this popular without a management company supporting him in the early stages. Thumbs up for Chen Kun!

OMG,
I became a semifan of Chen Kun, after watching Sword of Outlaw and The Knot, both starring Li Bing Bing (I am a fan). He is really quite handsome, but his acting needs much improvements. Chen and LBB looks amazing together, both in the serial and the movie. I thought LBB and Chen were perfect together, despite their tragic ends in both series and movie. But, I guess that's what makes it more memorable.

The Knot's release had brought over $5 million, which isn't as much, but still an enormous amount. I've read my great reviews on the movie, and I agree, Chen and Vivian needs to improve more, due to their stiffness, at some point in time. But LBB's role Jindi was definitely mesmorizing and defnitely well-liked. Its no wonder Jindi won him over. Sadly, their end was tragic and heartbreaking. I really enjoyed watching this movie, and am sure that fans of all 3 main casts would love it too.

Sword of Outlaw on the other hand, lacked structure in its storyline, therefore was unsatisfying. Chen's performance was alrite, but again, he was rather stiff. But he managed the look, since his character is precieved as stiffed and wood-like. Even so, I enjoyed LBB and Chen's love story, their love was definitely unconditional and worthy. I cried rather much with both preformances from both the movie and series. Its sad to say that LBB and Chen could not end well in their productions together, therefore I hope that in the near future they would come up with a happily ever after production.
