Chen Kun is soo adorable in these pics...he really has a very expressive & sometimes comical face. I'm starting to notice him after watching "Story of the Noble Family" & "The Heroic Duoc." He delivers solid performances consistently & he definitely has what it takes to be a leading actor. I think that he has improved sooo much since his first few years of acting & I know that he'll make it big in the future. In fact, from the looks of these photos, I'd say he's very much in demand right now. Can't wait to watch his horror movie, "The Door." Gah, the trailer gives me the creeps What's that series/movie that he's in with Kim Hee Sun? Is he breaking into the Korean market??? Let the Chen Kun madness begin!!!

I think that Chen Kun is one of the most solid actors of his generation. It also help that he has a very unique & distinctive look that differentiate him from others. When I first saw him, I thought that he was Thai or at least mixed. However, he's full Chinese. I'm pleased that his star is rising...that means we get to see a lot more of him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he has any project coming up with Kim Hee Sun. The pictures that you've seen of them together took place when he was in Seoul as a film ambassador representing China. Even if he has plan to break into the Korean market, please let him act with any other actresses but Kim Hee Sun. The girl cannot act even if you beat it out of her.

Bellamia, yeah, I agree w/ you! I thought that Chen Kun was mixed too when I first saw him. I think his eyes look very 'western' and slightly different since they're soooo huge and his lids are very high. Those big eyes are his best features since they're so expressive. When he was in full-blown rage in "Heroic Duo", I really felt frightened by him. His eyes do a lot of acting and his doe-eyed look really makes an impression on me. Out of all the young chinese actors out there, I feel that Chen Kun and Hu Ge have the most potential to reach the height of stardom in the years to come. They're both still young and have a lot to learn, but with the right luck and hard work, I think they'll be taking all of Asia by storm (if they aren't already).

Oh yeah.... I don't like Kim Hee Sun either...gah, the girl stares into the camera and calls that acting! A few years back, her beauty was renowned in Korea and everyone treated her as though she was the darling of the entertainment industry. I'm glad that she's not that popular now b/c quite frankly, she's just a pretty vase w/ no substance. If Chen Kun acted with her, I'm sure that he'd dominate the screen with his presence and she'd just be a wallflower. Plus they'd make a horrible couple! *gags* If he were to break into the Korean market, I can see him w/ Son Yeh Jin, who is pretty and she just won an award for her acting skills (forgot which one)

bellamia is correct those pics were taken from the China Film Festival in Korea. They were the respective film ambassadors for their countries. CK and Kim haven't co-operated before.

I have close to zero knowledge on the Korean entertainment industry but judging from the reports from the mainland I had the impression Kim is one of the biggest female stars in korea, the other i know of being the actress from my sassy girl....i had no idea she can't act, but she seems to have a reputation of the no. 1 beauty in korea from what i read.

As for entering the korean market, I'm pretty sure it isn't in his immediate plans although he did mention talking to some korean directors when he was there. His next movie would be directed by Li Shaohong again and would take 6-8 months. The lead actress could be either zhang ziyi or zeng li.

I'm not really looking forward to "the door" becos i have doubts on the standards of mainland horror films. but i'm very interested in his other film "the knot" with LBB and Vivian. judging from the trailer, its seems like an epic show.

however the one i'm most looking forward to is his series with fiona sit. derek yee is 1 of my fav hk director; his products are usually quality. and i know i keep on saying this but fiona sit is really adorable.

yeah he sorta does have that "feminine" look. It's not his fault though, can't help it if you're born like that. I think Jimmy Lin and Huang Hai Bing have it too.

Default Reviews or Episode Guide for "The Conquest"

    Hi!
I want to ask has anyone watched his TVB's series "The Conquest"? All I've seen was the opening credit, it looks really awesome. Is there an Episode Guide for this series? I hope there is one since the series is based in history, and it is hard for modern viewers, like me lol, to fully grasp the language.

lol...i think i know what you're trying to say, even though i don't agree with it. if anything, the distinctive thing is his unchinese-looking facial features. btw, "not physically tough looking guy" does not mean "feminine" and i happen to know some gays who are more more macho than the average guy

    hey cheeky's back
i agree wholeheartedly...its not his fault he was born with his looks....should blame his parents for the bad genes, damn them to hell! but i blame him for the dark complexion

Default "The Knot" Premiere Events in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu

The reviews are in! tonnes of them actually and they are overwhelmingly positive. doing well in the first 2 weeks of box office too i'm really looking forward to it now. according to reports, it probably won't get nominated for awards overseas due to the political nature esp. in taiwan, but domestic awards should not be a problem.

I forgot which tab it’s under that said “Indian blood”. Basically I use an online translator website, which wasn’t that accurate of course.

I think (in my opinion) “The Conquest” was a great TV Series, maybe that’s why I enjoy watching Chen Kun played as Fan Li.

Yeah, I agree he has a lot more that can improve.
I can’t wait till his new TV Series? “Yun Shui Yao” comes out.

I haven’t seen any of his older series besides “ The Story of the Noble Family”, so I can’t say if he is a good actor or not. But from watching just two of his series, I think he’s a solid actor overall. In “ The Story of the Noble Family” the directing of the TV Series was just so dragging. I understand it’s based off a novel, but reading a novel and watching a TV Series are different things, can’t make everything slow pace. I guess the director has his own reasons.

In my opinion I don’t think his acting in “ The Story of the Noble Family” was fake, just average acting as a pampered rich boy (not impressive). His acting there didn’t please some or many audiences, especially my mom, she thought it was just OK for her or actually a little annoying (because of the character he portrayed) I’m sure if it was cast with another actor (that actor) might have done a different (style) way or a better job? Who knows. But Chen Kun just did an average job there.

I guess you have to like Chen Kun’s acting style or if you even see any style in him. Thou I think he’s an enjoyable actor to watch (or else I wouldn’t be on this forum)

Is it Alec Su? Sorry I’m not good with names.
I’ve only watch 2 of Alec Su’s TV Series or actually 3 ("Huan Zhun Ge Ge I & II", and "The Legendary Siblings" (with Jimmy Lin) I think he did a descent job.

For Nicky Wu (I hope we are talking about the same person), I only seen him in “At the Threshold of An Era I & II” and his role wasn’t that big, plus that was one of his first filming projects? so can’t judge from that.

Wallace Huo, sigh I never seen his acting.
Alec, Nicky and Wallace are talented enough to me.. they're considered teen idols? I'm not a teen anymore though but I still watch their shows.

I first saw Chen Kun in a series with Ruby Lin, he was cute and acting was okay.
I watched Vancouver too, and I thought he's okay..
i like mostly of his songs so i bought his cd.. I think I like him more as a singer..

erm, why did you mention wallace if you haven't seen him act? I think he's pretty good, I'm not so much of his fan but I think he's doing good in acting. His recent dramas were really good..

anyway, i'm really looking forward to see the knot .. I like vivian too.

I saw the Knot. It was an okay movie. Chen Kun's acting got better. His acting skill is way much better than Vivian Hsu's, but pales in comparison with Li Bing Bing's. I thought Li Bing Bing was great in this movie.

    Default After watching the knot

Hi all, thanks for chipping in with the comments Trust everyone had a good festive season.

I finally watched "the knot" over the break.... thought it was a quality movie but going by from the online reviews, which were overwhelming positive, I figured I would be seriously touched (since most of the viewers mentioned they broke into tears), but that really wasn't the case. maybe I'm cold hearted.

The opening scenes had shades of titanic with the old Bi Yun talking to her adopted child and thinking back to the past. There was extended part in the movie done in 1 continuous camera shot showing rural Taiwan in the 40s that approaches hollywood standard, I thought it was really cool. I wish they included more battle scenes though to present a more epic feel to the audience. There were hardly any.

Cast performed uniformly well. CK had the most screen time and the hardest task to play a youthful, reckless character from his late teens to a mature man in his forties but he was convincing. The only thing is his Taiwanese accent did not sound authentic. Vivian looked really great for her age (her skin is just flawless) and her chemistry with ck was awesome. Despite her age, she wasn't unconvincing as a high school student. Her role also required her to mature and she did better at the end. LBB was good too but she had the least difficult role. Her character jindi, was more 1 dimensional than the other 2 and easier to portray but nevertheless her scenes were quite touching.

The mainland viewers seemed to be split between the 2 romances, with the edge going to the 2nd one but i prefer the earlier part in Taiwan. I like how ck and vivian captured the innocence and pureness of first love. The village scenes in the 1940s were also nicely done. The performance of the supporting cast were mixed, imo. Qin Han stole the show along with the 2 veteran taiwanese actress. Isabella and the other HK actor didn't fare as well.

As of now, the movie has earned close to 37million RMB, putting it in the top10 at the mainland box office of 2006.

Hi Nelly Sorry for the late reply...

u have my full support to setup an english webpage i don't think there is 1 out there yet but its hard work though...don't let it affect your studies and personal life(thats what CK always remind his fans)

u speak and read french? that is simply awesome! can i ask a favor? i need a translation for a blog written in french on chen kun. i really curious as to what she has written abt ck. let me try to find it later....

abt zhao wei, yeah what lady zhuge said.... they're are still the best of friends till today. i think only zhou xun can claim to be closer to chen kun, i mean for his actress friends.
