    Simon Yam - 3
    Zhang Chuishan - HSDS 86
    Qian Long - B&S 87
    Yelu Qi - ROCH 84

He was also in XAJH 80s version
He was Liu Zhengfeng, placing him at 4.

He's on 4 then. A coincidence is that both Zhong Wanchou and Han Baoju have the same title "Ma Huang Shen" or the Royal God of Horses. He probably looks the part of a horse master.

Only if a horse master is supposed to look short and chubby.

Here are a few more actors:

Lee something (younger brother of legendary actress Lee Heung Kum). He was:

Mongolian prince Dosi in LOCH '82

The younger Mo brother in ROCH '83

Mo Dong Hero # 7 Mok Sing Guk in HSDS '86

Then there's the actor who was the other Mo brother. His roles were:

In DGSD '81, that male Mo Leung Sword Sect student who wanted to elope with that female Mo Leung Sword Sect student. He famously slapped Deun Yu for talking too much and later, knocked Deun Yu into the bottom of the canyon where he discovered the Siu Yiu Sect's secret library.

In LOCH '82, he was Cheun Jen Sect 2nd Generation Disciple Lau Chui Yin.

In ROCH '83, he was the older Mo brother.

Then, there's a beardy actor who tended to play foreign princes or kings. He was:

The leader of the Hsi Hsia Kingdom's 1 Bun Tong task force in DGSD '81

Yeun Nan Hung Lit's older brother (another Jin Empire prince) in LOCH '82

    Kublai Khan in ROCH '83

The No Commandments Monk in SPW

Mo Lit (descendent of Mo 3 Tung) in HSDS '86

Wow - he was Lee Heung Kam's younger brother?!!! 李樹佳 - Lei Shu Kai? (the website kidd posted is incredibly useful). I can't remember him anywhere else, so he's on 3.

麥子雲 - Mak Zhi Wan, if I'm reading correctly. For trivia's sake, the girl he eloped with (or rather, died trying to elope with) was played by Ng Kar Lai, whose career has since moved on far far ahead of poor Mak.

He was Liu Chuxuan? If he also played Wu Dunyu no wonder ROCH didn't have the full set of 6 elders - I think they only had 5.

He was also Songshan's Master Ding (I couldn't read his full name) in XAJH 95, Panglianhu in LOCH 94 and ROCH 96, and Cold-Face Lang Him in HSDS 86. This takes him to 7 in total.

Then, there's a beardy actor who tended to play foreign princes or kings. He was:

The No Commandments Monk in SPW

Mo Lit (descendent of Mo 3 Tung) in HSDS '86
That's Yip Tin Hang - I've already counted him. He was also Sky Demon in XKX and Yan Daping in LCJ.

Yep. I'm guessing that a good twenty years separate the two siblings in age.

I think that in the ROCH novel, they started off with six Elders, but the number was reduced to five because Ma Yuk passed away during the years that Yeung Gor was training with Little Dragon Girl in the Ancient Tomb compound. To maintain that number of five (mysteriously *not* accounting for what happened to Lau Chui Yin), TVB kept Ma Yuk alive all the way through the Mongol firebombing of the Chung Yeung Palace (though he'd strangely been demoted to a position subordinate to Yau Chui Gei; Ma Yuk was still the eldest, but for some reason, Yau Chui Gei was the one giving all the orders).

One more for Mak Tze Wan: he was also Ming Cult member Lang Him in HSDS '86.

Probably because Har Yu was supposed to have a bigger role than Cheung Ying Choy. If I remember correctly there was also some waffle about how Hao Datong lost an arm in a night assault on the Mongol provisions camp and died asking for YG's forgiveness for Grandma Sun's death. Somehow it didn't feel so annoying when I hadn't read the novel.....

I already counted that role, so he stays on 7. Actually, 8. He was Baiguishou in HSDS 00. I can't remember if he was one of the two shield-brothers from Zuiyan Manor in DGSD 97, hopefully somebody can confirm this later.

Oh, no. Gok Dai Tung's maiming and death were quite straightforward, and he made no reference to Yeung Gor or Granny Sheun when dying. The strange part came a little later with Wong Chui 1. Realizing that it was his student, Chiu Tze Ging, who betrayed the Cheun Jen Sect to the Mongols, a disgraced Wong Chui 1 fell on Chiu Tze Ging's extended sword and apparently died. Strangely, however, he shows up alive and well (!) a little later to join his fellow Cheun Jen Sect Elders in their last stand...with no explanation as to how he survived (uninjured too) falling on his former student's sword!

    A couple more:

One middle-aged actor depicted the following characters:

Divine Healer Sit in DGSD '81

Wang Khan (father of Dosi; anda-brother of Genghis Khan) in LOCH '82

father of the girl (played by Teresa Cheung) who eloped with the scholar (played by Albert Au) in ROCH '83

Veteran TVB actor Tam Bing Mun was:

    Genghis Khan's anda-brother Jamorkha in LOCH '82

Persian mercenary Wan Hak Sai in ROCH '83

Chu Chung Ling (descendant of 1 Deng disciple Chu Tze Lau) in HSDS '86

    Additionally, the same actress was:

Ah Bik (Mo Yung F'uk's second maid) in DGSD '81

Yeun Nan Ping in ROCH '83

Ngor Mei Sect member Ding Mun Gwun in HSDS '86

I thought Wang Khan was Dosi's grandfather... you're referring to Song Kwan? I'm not sure as I can't remember who played Divine Healer Sit and the father in ROCH. If it's Song Kwan he was also one of the Heaven and Earth society members in DOMD 86.

Veteran TVB actor Tam Bing Mun was:

    Genghis Khan's anda-brother Jamorkha in LOCH '82

    Tam Bing Man on 3.

Yeun Nan Ping in ROCH '83

Ohr Mei Sect member Ding Mun Gwun in HSDS '86
That is the totally sweet and underrated Wong Mun Yee, now on 3.

You're right; it was Song Kwun. And yes, the same actor was Divine Healer Sit and said father from ROCH.

You know what's interesting about Tam Bing Mun's ROCH '83 and HSDS '86 roles: Wan Hak Sai was the character who placed the 9 Yeung Jen Ging into the skin of that gorilla, where it remained hidden for the next 100 or so years; Chu Chung Ling was the the character who forced Cheung Mo Gei into that cave where he encountered that same gorilla and rediscovered the 9 Yeung Jen Ging. So in the 80s, Tam Bing Mun's characters were responsible for both hiding and uncovering the 9 Yeung Jen Ging.

Has anyone counted Sheung Goon Yuk:

I am sure she has been in more roles, but I only remember:

Mit Juet See Tai (HSDS 79)
    Mo Sam Leung (ROCH 84)
Some guys wife in SPW 84

    Gum Gwok Wai:

Chiu Tse Ging (LOCH 83+ ROCH 84)
    Elder Kuk (SPW 84)

    Lui Yau Wai:

    Yuen Sing Chuk (DSGD 82)
    Lee Mok Sau (ROCH 84)
    Empress Dowager (DOMD 85)
Dou Bak Fung (DY's mum) (DSGD 97)

    Wong Man Wai:

    Chun Hung Meen (DSGD 82)
    Mui Chiu Fung (LOCH 83)
    Fake Empress Dowager (DOMD 85)

Yeung Chak Lum also moves up one cos I will never forget him as Au Yeung Fung in the Michelle version of LOCH (or was it ROCH??)!

Wong Wan Choi was also the sickly Guai Chung in DOMD 85. (Have you counted his Chan Gak Lok role in FFOSM 88 yet?)

I listed her earlier on 4, including her roles as the Taiwanese Empress in DOMD 86 and Min Rou in XKX 89. Which guy's wife was she in XAJH?

    Gum Gwok Wai:

Chiu Tse Ging (LOCH 83+ ROCH 84)
    Elder Kuk (SPW 84)
    Kam Kok Wai - 4, maybe 5
Zhao Zhijing - ROCH 84 (was Zhao in LOCH 82 at all?)
    Qu Yang - XAJH 84
    You Tanzi - DGSD 81
Dak Gatna (how on earth do you translate that name) - DOMD 86

    Lui Yau Wai:

    Yuen Sing Chuk (DSGD 82)
    Lee Mok Sau (ROCH 84)
    Empress Dowager (DOMD 85)
Dou Bak Fung (DY's mum) (DSGD 97)
Pak Yan was Yuan Xingzhu - Lui Yau Wai was Gan Baobao - she's on 4.

    Wong Man Wai:

    Chun Hung Meen (DSGD 82)
    Mui Chiu Fung (LOCH 83)
    Fake Empress Dowager (DOMD 85)
    Wong on 3 as well.

Yeung Chak Lum also moves up one cos I will never forget him as Au Yeung Fung in the Michelle version of LOCH (or was it ROCH??)!

Thanks! Yeung moves up to 7, while Wong goes up to 6 - I counted him as Fu An Kang only, not Chan Kar Lok, so that's an extra role for him.

Not in the LOCH novel, but in LOCH '82 they gave Chiu Tze Ging an early debut by having him as one of the replacement positions for the 7 Star Formation during the big confrontation against Kau Cheen Yan.

Ooh, thanks! 5 for Kam then.

Why did Qiu Qianren fight Quanzhen in the serial? I remember a scene in the LOCH themesong where Shek Kin was surrounded by a circle of Taoists, but I can't for the life of me remember anything even remotely close to the scene in the novel, or any event in the novel which might lead to that scene.

Some actress whom I can't name:

Another actress whom I can't name:
    - Tianshan Tonglao - DGSD 1981

    - Hu Yidao - Flying Fox (year unknown, I did not watch it)
    - Hu Fei - Flying Fox (as above)
    - Wen Tailai - Book and Sword 2002

EDIT: I know these actors/actresses didn't have a lot of roles, but I guess if we look carefully, we might just find out that they played a few more JY characters in the past.

    Andy Lau:
    - Yang Guo - ROCH 1983
    - Kang Xi - DOMD 1985

    Miu Kiu Wai:
    - Yang Kang - LOCH 1982
    - Xia Xueyi - Bi Xue Jian 1985

Now that I think about it, Andy and Miu didn't seem to be a lot of JY adaptations during their heyday at TVB.

    Har Yu 3, Adam 4.

    Yeung Pan Pan

She was also Huo Qingtong's second martial sister in B&S, so moves up to 3.

    Wong Hang Sau 黄杏秀
    - Zhong Ling - DGSD 1981
    - Ah Zhu - DGSD 1981
Dear Cecilia on 2... she had more Gu Long roles than Jin Yong, sadly.

Another actress whom I can't name:

Chan *** Sang on 2, Wong Oi Ming on 2.

    - Wen Tailai - Book and Sword 2002
Patrick was also Miao Renfong in FF84 so moves up to 3. Lei Sikei stays on 2, while Ray Looi only counts in Flying Fox as Book and Sword 2002 wasn't a TVB production.

    Andy Lau:
    - Yang Guo - ROCH 1983
    - Kang Xi - DOMD 1985

Yup - the bulk of the main protagonists didn't really act in that many serials, as they had to make way for other stars. It's the supporting cast who win in terms of roles played.

A few more unnamed TVB actors with multiple Jin Yong roles:

    Actor 1:

Wan Chung Hok (Great Evil # 4) in DGSD '81

Chan Yeun Fung in LOCH '82

One of the Ghosts of San Sai who befriended Yeung Gor near the end of ROCH '83

    Actor 2:

    Ogodei Khan in LOCH '82

One of the Shih Brothers (friends of Yeung Gor and Gwok Seung) in ROCH '83

Chan Yau Leung (Beggar's Union traitor) in HSDS '86

    Actor 3:

    Jochi Khan in LOCH '82

Another Shih Brother (the sick one) in ROCH '83

Seung Yu Chun (young Cheung Mo Gei's benefactor) in HSDS '86

    Actor 4:

One of Dali's Four Imperial Guardsmen (the scholarly one) in DGSD '81

One of Yeun Nan Hung Lit's hired thugs in LOCH '82 (originally called Pang Lin Fu, but the name Pang Lin Fu was switched to another actor/character midway through the series and this guy continued playing the same character, but was no longer called Pang Lin Fu)

One of the Ghosts of San Sai in ROCH '83 (the one who had his ear cut off by Yeung Gor for committing adultery)

Yan So So's bodyguard in HSDS '86

    Actor 5:

The Fisherman (1 Deng's disciple) in LOCH '82

Luk Ching Duk (the goofy young Taoist who liked to beat up the young Yeung Gor, and often ended up the victim of Yeung Gor's pranks) in ROCH '83

Mo Dong Hero # 2 (Yu Lin Chou) in HSDS '86
