I think TVB's Sa Tung Teen actor from LOCH '82 reprised his role in the 1990s version. He also played Beggar's Union Chief Lo Yau Gerk in ROCH '83 and Chui Dat (Chu Yeun Cheung's buddy) in HSDS '86.

I think we've missed someone major in our list so far, haven't we? Hui Siu Hung. As far as I know, he was:

Mo Leung Sword Sect (East School) Leader Tzor Tze Muk in DGSD '81

Chu Chung (Gong Nam 7 Freaks # 2) in LOCH '82

Gung Sheun Tze (Lord of Passionless Valley) in ROCH '83

Wai 1 Siu (Green Winged Bat King of Ming Cult) in HSDS '86

He possibly had other roles in Jin Yong's adaptations as well.

Also not be forgotten is Cheung Lui, who was:

Kau Mor Tze in DGSD '81

Mongolian archer Jebeh in LOCH '82

The Golden Wheel Monk in ROCH '83

Sky Eagle Sect second in command Yan Yeh Wong in HSDS '86

We also had the actor who was Divine Crocodile in DGSD '81, Ling Tze Seung Yan in LOCH '82, Dat Yee Ba in ROCH '83, and an unnamed early possessor of the Dragon Sabre killed in episode one of HSDS '86.

Also, let's not forget the legendary Sek Geen, who was:

Golden-Haired Lion King Tse Tsun in HSDS '78

Siu Yeun San in DGSD '81

Kau Cheen Yan in LOCH '82 and ROCH '83

Another unnamed early possessor of the Dragon Sabre in HSDS '86 (again killed off in episode one).

Wow.. I'm impressed with my memory of that one, really

He was also a very adorable Duo Long in DOMD 86. He was also in FF84, but can't remember as who. Given the timeline, he would probably be in XAJH 85 too, just can't think of the role, so let's keep him at 5 for now.

Also not be forgotten is Cheung Lui, who was:

Kau Mor Tze in DGSD '81

Mongolian archer Jebeh in LOCH '82

The Golden Wheel Monk in ROCH '83

I got him earlier, with exactly the same 4 roles. Couldn't think of any more, though..

Got a new one. I remembered him playing a hunchback before, and a quick check with the website kidd posted confirmed that he was 10th brother in B&S 87 as well! He now moves to 5.

We also had the actor who was Divine Crocodile in DGSD '81, Ling Tze Seung Yan in LOCH '82, Dat Yee Ba in ROCH '82, and an unnamed early possessor of the Dragon Sabre killed in episode one of HSDS '86.
That's Lau Kok Seng, now on 4. Actually, 5. He was one of the three Tianshan Demons who Huo Qingtong met in the wilderness - if I'm not mistaken he was the Mongol who was spared because he had goodness and honour in him.

He was also Zhang Zhaozhong in B&S 79, and now on 6.

To add to my earlier list, Lau Kong should be on 10, as he was also Li Zicheng in FF84 flashback.

    Ian,

Did you UP Bao Fong a number too? I included a picture of him (some posts ago along with Chun Wong)as Hong Cult Leader of the Holy Dragon sect in DOMD98.
I just love how you Captivate My Mind

Self reminder - Update blog more often and continue editing/writing for TOV fanfic.

I did - he's now on 6, counting his roles in DOMD 98 and FF 99. kidd's website lists him as "Wu Zhen" in FF - which character was that?

Lee Kok Lun and Lau Kok Sheng both go up to 6 now. They were both in DOMD 86, Lee was Theresa Mo's brother Mu Jian Sheng, while Lau was their manservant (the only one who survived the failed assassination attempt on Wu Sangui).

Someone mentioned Chun Wong as Zhao Banshan in at least one version of B&S..

Yup, that's why he's Zhao Banshan twice. Once in B&S 87, once in FF 98. He definitely wasn't Zhao Banshan in B&S 79 - that was Wong Sun. I can't remember who played Zhao Banshan in FF 84.

    Thanks! That's Cheng Lingshu's teacher isn't it?

He playe Bao Shu, the doctor that assisted in the birth of Wu Fei and put the poison on the sabre that killed Wu Yut Do.

    He was Zhao in FF85

Sort of, he was Cheng LingShu's teacher, but Cheng LingShu didn't exist in FF 98.

Isn't that Yan Ji? At least that's his name in the book.

    He was Zhao in FF85
Ah, then he plays Zhao Banshan three times then! Tied with Chan Onn Ying's Sha Gu, but still short of Ke Zhen Er, Hong Qigong and Sha Tongtian.

One more for Lee Kok Lun: he was an anonymous spy for the Divine Dragon Union at the beginning of DGSD '81. Later, he appeared in the same series as a different character (the Prince of Tubo/Turfan who competed for marriage with the Hsi Hsia princess).

There was also this older actor who had a penchant for playing monks in TVB ancient series. He was the Burning Wood Monk in LOCH '82, the Indian Healer Monk in ROCH '83, and one of the Shaolin "Hung" monks in HSDS '86. He probably played a monk in one or two other TVB Jin Yong adaptations as well.

The Indian Monk in ROCH was played by Hor Phaik Kin.

    Hor Phaik Kin - 6
    Indian Monk - ROCH 84
    Fang Zheng's martial brother - XAJH 95
    Xuan Ci - DGSD 81
another Xuan monk - DGSD 97 (Xuan Nan and Bei were dead, while Xuan Tong was Lei Hoi Sang - can't think of anymore Xuans).
    Kong Zhi - HSDS 86
Jiao Mu - LOCH 82 (Was he Jiao Mu in LOCH 94 as well?)

Poor chap - his roles are all monks!

Lee Kok Lun goes to 8 then! I always liked that chap a lot, dunno why.

Shek Kin moves up another step as well - he was the Huashan leader in BXJ 85.

Heh. I know. Here's how I picture his conversations with the TVB casting office during the 1980s and 1990s:

    Casting Agent: Mr. Ho.

    Ho: Yes?

Casting Agent: We've got a role for you. Ancient wuxia series, and...

Ho:...you want me to play a monk.

    Casting Agent: Um....yeah.

Ho: *Takes a deep sigh, marches towards makeup department for his regular head shave, muttering something about being typecast.*

Also, didn't veteran TVB actor Wong Sun (best known as deli-owner "Uncle Mau" in the Hong Kong 80s sitcom series) play Toghon Timur (Chiu Mun's father) in *both* the 1978 and 1986 versions of HSDS?

Bao Fong should be up one more role, he's at 7: the 4 that were previously proposed + 2 FFSM (in the old version, he played the brother of Wu Fei's mother... he's the one who lived in the mountain trying to find the treasure and I think at the end, he died in the treasure room and in the newest version, he played some monk) and then, + 1 for DOMD 98.
    always smile

The same actor (name unknown) played these three roles (and possibly others):

Chung Man Sau in DGSD '81

Hon Bo Kui (Gong Nam 7 Freaks # 3) in LOCH '82

Monk Pang of the Ming Cult in HSDS '86
