Episode 11 - Monkey falls out with Tang

I don't regret killing those demons, I only regret agreeing to come with you to find the scriptures.

Monkey sees that the three all put their hands up to agree that he should leave and is hurt by this, so he turns and leaves. Tang offers a word to make him stay, saying that if he can shed two tears of regret to cleanse his sins, then he will support his cause to stay, Monkey sheds two streams of tears and Tang is pleased at this, but Monkey says that the only thing his tears will cleanse is any relationship they once had as master and disciple and that he will never regret killing demons. When the monkeys see that Monkey has returned, they sing mountain songs to welcome him, but Monkey is not very happy at all. Tang, Piggy and Sandy continue on their way, Piggy goes on a power trip, telling Sandy what to do and goes over the top when he says that he has to conserve his energy to fight demons so his master should allow him to ride on the horse. Dragon Horse angrily throws him off, making Sandy laugh very loud. Monkey goes to the Heavenly Palace to visit his old friends but is turned away at the door by Tai Pak, telling him to rejoin the troupe heading to the West. Monkey unhappy changes his path and goes to visit White Bone, but she has left and her home is empty. The monkeys point out that White Bone has only just left the Water Curtain Cave and Monkey chases after her. When the two reunite, it is like a lifetime has passed. They return to the Water Curtain Cave and is surprised to see that Siu Bat and Purple Rose have come down from the heavens to see him. White Bone plays the hostess in serving them and Purple Rose is not happy about this, asking Monkey if he has forgotten about Purple Orchid. The snake demon sees that Monkey has left Tang and sees this as a great opportunity to have a taste of Tang monk flesh and decides to attack Piggy. Piggy goes to the market place to request some offerings and successfully foils an attempt by some demons to overcome him, however he cannot resist his hunger and he grabs the bread from a child, he gets his reprisals when the child takes its real form as a demon. Tang and Sandy enter the village to find Piggy and meet an old granny, the granny kindly gives them both a bun to eat and as soon as Tang eats it, he collapses, Sandy immediately fights with the granny Snake Demon, but is defeated and captured. The Golden Band on Monkey’s head begins to send out a strange sound and everyone is curious about its meaning, Monkey says that this is a sign that Tang is in trouble and everyone boldly encourages him to go back and help to rescue his master, Monkey is determined not to go and he drowns his sorrows later on with wine. Tang and his companions are captured and Piggy suggests to Sandy that they annoy Tang into reciting the curse to shrink the Golden Band into getting Monkey to come and rescue them, but Sandy refuses to use such underhand methods.

Episode 11 - Monkey returns to the group to seek the Western Scriptures

White Bone puts on the cologne of twenty-one feelings and eighteen emotions to try and attract Monkey, Purple Rose drags Siu Bat along to watch the show because it turns out that she has changed the cologne for the sweat of the first post-modernist beautiful young woman in heaven (???). As White Bone pushes herself beside Monkey, she suddenly realises that her whole body is weakened. The Snake Demon decides to first eat Sandy, in his haste Sandy desperately counts Monkey’s faults to Tang. Just as White Bone wants to get affectionate with Monkey, he suddenly feels a sensation and the Golden Band around his head begins to shrink, he says he must go and rescue his master and White Bone is furious. Monkey arrives just in time and injures the Snake Demon, Tang insists that he lets him go, so Monkey just turns to leave, Tang immediately pleads for him to stay. White Bone is very upset and throws herself off a cliff, but changes her mind half way and grabs onto a branch on the side, suddenly she hears some sounds of singing and talking, she finds out it is a flower demon, the flower demon suggests that she eats one of her petals and this will make Monkey change his mind, when White Bone finds out that if she eats all five petals she will become the adoration of ten thousand people, she is ruthless. Piggy is curious why all the demons want to eat the flesh of the Tang monk, Monkey explains that Tang’s former life was the Golden Cicada beside Buddha and to eat his flesh would increase your powers. Monkey finds some demons and chases after them. Piggy is accidentally hit by Sandy’s new invention and as the two start arguing, they realise that Tang has been kidnapped. The Black Spider Demon has captured Tang, saying that she wants to marry him, Tang is horrified. Monkey, Piggy and Sandy search to the Cobweb Cave and Monkey feels that this place is familiar. When the three split up to search, Monkey is overjoyed when he sees Black Spider, it turns out that they have know each other for a long time. Black Spider suddenly aims the Nine Heavens Snow Needle into Monkey’s back, Monkey emotionally asks her if she still remembers that they once knew each other. Black Spider’s memories return to the time when she had only just taken human form and was brought to see the world by her elder sister White Spider and was rescued by the young Monkey who had just arrived to the Three Star Temple…

Episode 13 - Black Spider realises her wrongs

Monkey’s Pipa bone is locked and has lost all his powers. Tang and the others see that Monkey has lost and has been captured and lose hope, Piggy doesn’t forget to curse him. Monkey begs Black Spider to let the others go, but she is not moved. Monkey brings out the “charitable deeds notebook” he has which has an imprint of Black Spider’s lips and tells her to bring out the monkey fur which he gave her all that time ago, he recites a spell and brings out her conscience. Black Spider promises to Tang that she will block up the Cobweb Cave and wait for them to return from the West to help her to remove her evilness. The foursome arrive at the Guanyin Temple to rest for the night and are taken to a rundown room, Piggy is not impressed, pointing out that Tang is the sworn brother of the emperor and ordering the head monk to change their room at once. Afterwards the head monk takes them to see his treasures, but Sandy takes one look and sees that all the treasures are fakes, the head monk weeps in sorrow, Piggy sees the situation and offers to show some real treasures to him. When the head monk sees the Amethyst Bowl and the Silken Robes, his eyes light up and asks Tang to let him admire them for a night, Tang agrees but Monkey thinks that he will not get them back. The head monk wants to take the robe for himself and his disciple offers an idea. All the monks continuously bring in sticks and twigs, Monkey finds this rather suspicious and in the night finds that they are moving the sticks outside their room, he quietly tells Piggy and Sandy to stand by. Tang dreams that he has run to the side of a well when suddenly a scraggly man emerges from inside the well, pointing to him and at the well, then handing him a jade pendant. The head monk holds up the Silken Robes, seeming rather pleased with himself, then finds that his meditation room has caught fire and he is horrified. The next morning, Tang is shocked to find that the head monk has been burned to death and interrogates his three disciples, they try to hide the truth but Sandy lets on and admits this was the doing of Monkey. The King of the Black Chicken Country invites Tang to teach him some Buddhist theories, Tang looks at his three disciples and says he has important matters to attend to and will be at the palace later, the three are worried.

yep, while "take my word for it" didn't even crack 30 I think. one conclusion, HK people don't like drama anymore. not that "take my word for it" is such a great drama, but Monkey King? come on, the show looks like crap. must be every kid in HK is watching it. but I didn't know HK has such a young population.

I've just rent this serie and i have to say i'm a little disappointed cause some parts are not good with the real story they changed it (it doesn't make any sense) but the cast is GREAT ........

You know Hk get high rating for this problable because of Dicky (Kids LovE Dicky) and problably peeps watch it cuz of the huge cast .. and the fans you know watch their idol in it... Nicholas, Sammi, Andy, William and so on... Not a surprise for high ratings...

No offense to MK Fans!!! I just watching like 2 first chapters and i really hate it because
1. Story very ridicilous...What the hell TVB think of changing the whole storyline???
2. I never knew MK had a lover including Naja
3. I never knew he unite with demons, fairies or whoever he meets

There are so many reasons that MK is such DUMB but i just can't think of it... I mean it is funny but its getting on my nerves..
Journey to the West I and II is much much better
Because it has a proper storyline and has real FACTUAL INFORMATION...such as MK is a MONK and DOES NOT fall in LOVE including Naja!!!!!!

I don"t know why that some people see only 1 or 2 episodes...and say that it very bad..and hate this... <IMG SRC="smilies/redface.gif" border="0"> ...this serie don"t do anything bad to you <IMG SRC="smilies/angrystick.gif" border="0">! yup, this serie is different from the first two and the book...this is because the compagny don"t want to re-make the same the first two or the book..and they only want to make a surprise to the audience...About the love, why the monk and Naja can:t love...Monkey is not the monk know, he is only haft a monk and naja, he is only a boy...why he can"t love...this is very normal! and i see until tape 8...i found that monkey is not really love, he only miss them...their friendship are little over than normal...but this is not love...! but only my opinion!

people like me saying these things because I feel that the show is a sacrilege to the great classic. a bastardization of the great image of the monkey king and many other beloved characters all chinese had since their early childhood. sorry if you can't understand this feeling, but journey to the west is probably the first farietale that chinese kids are exposed to. and I feel sorry for those poor kids growing up today that are exposed to this kind of junk and garbage. but from the rating, it's evident that a lot of people share your attitude, not mine.

Episode 14 - Monkey and Purple Orchid are reunited after a crisis

This stupid monk - no matter how much I call him he won't sit down!

Tang tells of his strange dream and the strangest thing is that when he wakes there is a jade pendant in his hand, his three disciples cannot think of an explanation. The four enter the palace and Tang goes to meet the King as the three disciples have their own activities, Monkey goes to see the monkey shows, Piggy goes to share food and drink with some beautiful maidens and Sandy goes to see the King’s collection of treasures. Tang is impressed with the King’s enthusiasm for Buddhist study, but the King seems a little restless. Monkey sees the prince who has just returned from hunting and becomes suspicious about the King’s devotion to Buddhism. The King doesn’t stop asking Tang to sit down and just as he is about to do so, a strange wind blows out the candle. When the candle is relit, they find that Monkey is sitting in Tang’s seat and the King is a little annoyed. The four suspect that the King has ulterior motives and Tang also points out that the King’s face is similar to that of the ghostly male in his dream. Tang privately meets with the Prince and brings out the jade pendant, the prince is shocked to see the reappearance of the jade which he lost three years ago. The prince interrogates all the ministers and then goes to the well to search, finding the body of the King in the process. Monkey tries to chase the demon who has taken the form of the King, but is unsuccessful. Sandy uses his new invention “demon chaser” to find the whereabouts of the demon, but it takes the form of Sandy and Piggy leaving the three brothers fighting each other, luckily Monkey has an idea to destroy this Nine-tailed-fox demon. Purple Orchid misses Monkey and Purple Rose uses tricks to gain the seal of approval from the Jade Emperor for her to go to the earth, Orchid is very grateful. Monkey is puzzled as to why Tang has a reincarnation pill to bring the King back to life then he realises why when he sees Orchid, the two feel like they have been apart for a lifetime. Orchid says she wants to go with him to the West to find the scriptures, sticking to him like a plaster, but Monkey is troubled by this and Orchid cannot understand his change of attitude towards her. The playful Red Boy is always causing trouble in the school house, saying that the teachers’ skills are poor and snatching his classmates’ possessions.
