Five linking stories are made into an ancient palacial series, showing the open and secret battles for power within the courts. Special effects illusions and spectacular martial arts add that little bit extra.
The concubine Lady Shuk secretly meets with her ex-lover Sima Ping (Ken Tong) and coincidentally, Lady Chung (Dodo Cheng) admits Ping as a godson. When Ping finds out that Ha Ying Chun (Rebecca Chan) has exchanged Shuk's baby prince with a racoon, Chung stands out to help her to rescue the prince and uncover Ha's evil plan.
Kwok Jeung (the Royal Father-in-Law) plots to poison the crown prince, but accidentally poison's Ha's child instead and points the blame at Chung. Chung is stripped of her title and exiled to King Tin Village. Kwok Jeung allies with the Yin people to attack King Tin and sends assassin Shek Lung to murder Chung. Lung cannot bring himself to do this and tells the truth to Chung and An and the three work together to fight the Yin. An and Chung redeem themselves by protecting the country and are welcomed back to court by the Chai Emperor.
Duk Shin (The Poison Master) imprisons the emperor in a demon cave and instructs his apprentice to stand in for the emperor at the palace and work with Ha to poison all the officials at the Mid-Autumn festivities. Chung arrives just at the right moment with her armies killing the imposter and Duk Shin.
When Ha finds out that she is actually a nine tailed fox demon and Chung is the human form of the Heavenly Dragon Star destined to be her enemy, she plots her vengeance. Ha pretends to be sorry for her wrongdoings whilst practicing the magic of the Blood Demon causing Chung to lose her senses. In this battle between good and evil, who will be the final victor?
