    "Unknowingly taking the blame for a crime, a generous servant loses her life!
    Her spirit lives in her braided hair, waiting for the day when she will prove her innocence...."

    Wong Ying Gu (Sit Ka Yin) is a happy-go-lucky, helpful person who lives for the day with her family and granddaughter, Suen Man Wah (Wong Lam). She is great friends with her neighbour, Wong Chi Cheung (Hui Siu Hung) and his son Wong Kim (Lawrence Ng) sees her as his own mother. HK in the 1950's is rife with corruption and in order to pay off her gambling debts, Ying often takes takes the blame for petty crimes and serves time in prison in place of the criminals.

    On one such occasion, Ying agrees to the job without even asking the crime and is tricked to take the place of a murderer, she is sentenced to death. Just before the execution, Ying cuts off her braided hair and instructs the prison warden to give it to Wah as a keepsake. After Ying dies, her spirit lives on in the braid, but it is kept in the evidence room in the police station and she can't get out because of the Kwan Kung god figure and so it stays there for 10 years....

    Very soon, Kim is grown up and has become a police officer. He is upright and honest and does not succumb to the culture of corruption. As a result he is sent to look after the evidence room, where he finds the braid and meets Ying again. Yip Ka Sing (Cheung Siu Fai) was the man who framed Ying all those years ago and is now the superintendant. He moves the Kwan Kung god and releases Ying's spirit from the braid. Ying misses Wah, so Kim agrees to help Ying find Wah and with Ying's help, Kim gets good results on many of his cases. Eventually, Ying finds Wah's whereabouts but is dismayed to find her being framed for another crime.....

    (Canto: Cheng Ban Kiu)

    Cast: Wong Hei, Gigi Lai Chi, Nadia Chan Chung Ling, Mak Bau, Mok Ka Yiu, Lam Wai San, Myolie Wu Hang Yee

    "A dream calling him to the service of his countrymen leads to many years of hard work - and all he gets back are these words - Ignorance is Bliss"

    Cheng Ban Kiu (Wong Hei) is an artist who goes to Yangzhou in search of opportunities where he meets Kam Lung (Mok Ka Yiu) and Wong San (Mak Bau). With Kiu's talent, he would have done very well in Yangzhou. However, things were never in his control. Kiu lives through the reign of three emperors: Kangxi (Chun Pui), Yungzheng (Tsang Wai Kuen) and Qinlong (William Tso). Although he finally realises his wish to serve his country, he realises that the seedy world of politics is not what he wanted.

    Along the twisted road to success, the road to love is also split into three. When first arriving in Yangzhou, Kiu meets Yat Jer (Lai Chi) who works in a brothel. He almost marries her, but her mother resents his origins and in the end, he marries Yat Jer's servant girl Tsui See (Nadia Chan) instead. Tsui See tries her hardest to make Kiu happy and eventually wins over his heart. Kiu eventually passes the exams and becomes an official and happily returns to his village - only to find that his wife dies whilst trying to save him. Before she dies, Tsui See convinces Kiu to marry Ng Mui (Myolie Wu). Kiu has no feelings towards Mui but she does not mind this. Yat Jer plots to ruin Kiu and it is down to Ng Mui to do his running around for him.

    After working for most of his life, Kiu is left with little to show for this and before he leaves for his village to retire with Ng Mui, he leaves behind the words "Ignorance is Bliss" to Qianlong - reflecting his experiences.

    Things can get worse - but I just keep on going!"

    Middle-aged, working as an executive for a pharmaceutical company in an slumping economy, Chong Sau Lai (Lydia Sum) has high expectations of herself and others and is not very popular with her staff, in particular Wong Man Yee (Fennie Yuen). Lai works hard for the company, but when she sees her superiors fighting for power, she gets angry and leaves. When Yee files Lai's resignation she is not happy for long as her own department is dispanded and they both join the army of the unemployed.

    Finding a job is easier said than done and with a build like Lai's, she finds herself hitting walls. However, with a positive attitude, Lai finally finds herself a job in sales. She realises that her build is holding her back so she decides to lose some weight. As for Yee, other than admitting her bad luck, she also realises that she can't leave things to fate. As a last resort, she finds a job as a waitress in a restaurant.

    One day, Lai eats at the restaurant where Yee works. Lai is very picky about her food and at first Yee finds this very annoying, but realises that Lai has a great insight into cookery and has an idea to start a restaurant partnership with her. Starting your own business is never easy and problem after problem arises which frustrates Yee, but Lai never gives up. From this example, Yee learns that success requires a lot of perserverance and hard work....

    "Wushu fights through their differences....

    Ng Ka Kit (Bowie Lam) is a promotions manager for an IT company and is sent by the company to take part in a training project in Beijing. Kit never imagined that this training involves learning Wushu (martial arts). At the Wushu academy, he meets his old nemesis, Yan Choi Yee (Sonija Kwok) who is a singer and also sacked office boy Lam Muk Sui (Tang Kin Wan). Yee is learning Wushu because she wants to break into the American markets. These three HK people, who normally wouldn't talk to each other find common ground and a common enemy in their Beijing coach Sun Zheng (Chen Jihui). Kit fancies the assistant coach He Dan (Gong Peibi) but she likes someone else. Living together at the Wushu academy makes Kit, Yee and Sui understand that Zheng is strict because he wants to train their concentration and Wushu spirit. When they realise this, their hatred turns into respect and Kit and Zheng become great friends.

    On his return to Hong Kong, Kit finds that he has lost all his power in the company and angrily resigns. On the other hand, Yee's popularity has been dimmed by a newcomer. Sharing their problems, they go into business together and just as Kit is about to ask Yee to be his girlfriend, her career picks up and she declines his love. At this time, Dan comes to Hong Kong to work as a stunt double in order to fund her boyfriend's dream. Kit rekindles his feelings for Dan as Yee looks on with envy but holds back her own feelings for the sake of her ego...

    (Canto: Yat Mong Ching Shum)

    Cast: Lu Wei, Benny Chan Ho Man, Michelle Yip Suen, Chiang Hong, Ko Hung, Kevin Cheng Ka Wing, Tong Dawei, Zhang Hang

    "Network Love" is a joint venture between China International Television and TVBI using artists and production staff from both companies. The story revolves around a group of internet fanatics in both China and Hong Kong and how they work towards achieving goals in both love and career.

    Tsui Wan (Chiang Hong) uses "Dou Dou" on the internet to meet "Long Wind Warrior", without realising that they work in the same building. His real name is Toa Kan (Lu Wei) and he owns an e-commerce company. Kang's partner is Wai Man (Michelle Yip) and her father wants to buy out the company, causing Kang and Man some misunderstandings with Ka Lam (Benny Chan) who has come from Hong Kong. As a result, Kang and Man leave the company. The company then runs into difficulty but the two return to step in and help out. In real life, Wan is being pursued by jewellery company manager Luk Nai Sing (Kevin Cheng) but develops a love for her internet friend. One day she receives an email from an airline passenger who tells her that the plane is being hijacked. Wan tells "Warrior" and through many means of communication, helps to rescue the aeroplane and its passengers. On this day, Wan and Hang finally meet on the Pearl of the Orient in Shanghai....

    Charlie Yuk Choi Ling (Charmaine Sheh) is a first year student nurse and life through her young eyes is fairly simple. She loves children and loves lively places so her ambition is to become a paediatric nurse.

    Charlie's room mate is a stuck-up rich girl called Crystal Ko Hiu Nam (Hong Chi Nei). Crystal's father and two brothers are doctors and she feels a failure because she is not a doctor as well, so she enrols as a student nurse as a stepping stone for her career. She hopes to one day move onto medical school. With one person enthusiastically wanting to be a nurse and the other seeing nursing as a second-rate career, how can these two room mates avoid confrontation?

    Stuck between the two is male student nurse Yung Tak Kei (Chan Kin Fung). Kei has wanted to be a nurse ever since he was very young, so against his mother's wishes, he applies for nursing school. Kei and Crystal know each other from school and Kei has always secretly admired her, but Crystal has always played it cool and rejected him. Kei is very hurt by this, but Charlie stands by him and the two remain positive towards their work and eventually find love in each other.

    Before Crystal's dream of becoming a doctor can be realised, another nightmare befalls her as she develops cancer of the kidneys. As she fights her illness, Crystal and Kei look after her with care; but Crystal's cool exterior breaks down, realising the importance in the role of a nurse and also the feelings that she never before felt for Kei.....

    Middle aged and living in a poor economy is like sitting in an examination hall, no matter whether you are rich or poor, you will have to pass many big and small tests. Tam Tin Yan (Joe Ma) and his family are no exception. Yan's father, Tam Yiu Koon (Kwok Fung) has been a teacher for many years and still has to take Teacher Standards Tests; big brother Tin Chak (Mok Ka Yiu) has been hiding in University for ten years and will finally have to face the tests of the university of life; little brother Tin Ping (Wong Ka Lok) has to face his High School exams; mother Ho Yuk Yee (Lisa Wong) has to face the examinations of love. As for Tin Yan, he has to face the tests posed by work and love.

    Ko Ka Lei (Maggie Cheung) has vowed from an early age to be better than men. She proved herself in her exams at school and at work, she measures her staff by how well they do in exams, causing tension. Yan sees her as an enemy, but his good friend Au Yeung Sau Yip (Chin Ka Lok) sees her as a goddess and in order to gain her favour, he works his hardest to achieve results. Lei makes things hard for Yip by posing him difficult problems, but these are always solved for Yip by his strategist, Yan. Lei and Yan gradually develop a respect and feelings for each other, but Yan does not show this for fear of hurting Yip. Lei sees this and is upset and decides to lose herself by going abroad, as a result, the two lose contact. A year later, Yan and Lei meet again on a hill climbing venue and face yet another test....

    Mang Lai Kwan (Michelle Yip)'s father Mang Si Yuen (Lo Hoi Pang) was a royal doctor for the previous dynasty and a learned man, but he is set in his ways and believes that women should not be educated. Kwan wants to seek knowledge and often dresses as a man to go to school. On her ventures, she meets the royal grandson Tit Muk Yi (Joe Ma) who is travelling in disguise and also straight-up young hero Wong Po Siu Wah (Raymond Lam) and the three become adopted brothers. Yi sees through Kwan's disguise and knows she is a girl, but he does not reveal this; Kwan also has feelings for Yi. Yuen decides to marry Kwan to Wong Po Siu Wah, but at the same time, rich bully Lau Fui Bik (Cheung Chung Chi) asks for Kwan's hand in marriage. As the day of the marriage draws near, Kwan decides to tell Yi about her feelings towards him, but Yi is summoned back to the courts and asks Wah to take his place to meet Kwan. When Kwan is stood up, she is very disappointed and sends Wah away. Kwan runs away and on her travels, dressed as a man, causes many laughs and much trouble, getting involved in many different situations. Kwan's feelings develop for both Yi and Wah and are forever changing between the two, especially when she finds out that Wah is her fiance and Yi has become the emperor......

    Zhen Fu (Ada Choi) is a famous beauty of her times and the great warrior Cao Cao admires her beauty and using his friendship with her father as an excuse, invites the Zhen family to his residence as house guests. The men around Fu are all dazzled by her stunning beauty, including Cao's eldest son Cao Pei (Chan Ho) and his third son Cao Zhi (Steven Ma). Pei is strong and courageous and rescues Fu from the clutches of his father despite risking punishment, whereas Zhi is talented and caring. Fu has feelings for them both, but is disappointed by Pei's jealousy and narrow-mindedness. On the other hand, Zhi is the perfect match for her. However, in the hands of Cao, Fu is ordered to marry Pei as the result of a political struggle. She reluctantly goes ahead with the marriage and in his sorrow, Zhi loses his inspiration. After Cao dies, Pei claims the kingdom and makes himself emperor, but he still worries that his brother wants to take his power and position so he continues to plot against Zhi. Pei believes the rumours that Zhi is the father of Fu's son, Cao Rui and forces Fu to drink poisoned wine to prove her innocence. After she dies, he then exiles his brother. Zhi returns from exile after Pei has died and Rui has become emperor but is sent away again. Zhi's heart is shattered and in his lowest moment, he sees a goddess rising from the waters of Luoshui which inspires him to write his classic poem "Luo Shen Fu" - an ode to the Goddess of Luo, which is still hailed today as a masterpiece.

    "Hey all my spirit and demon friends -
    I'm the Buddha, Jade Emperor and Guanyin's chosen envoy to retrieve the Sutra's from the West..."

    The prodigy of the heavens, the nemesis of the demon world, the saint of the universe Monkey King (Dicky Cheung) has been chosen to go to the Xizhuang to retrieve the "Sanzhuang Sutras" in order to save the universe from a forthcoming disaster and to rid the world of demons in the service of the gods. In the heavenly palace, Monkey meets Najia (Jimmy Lin) and the two become an odd couple. One day, Monkey wreaks havoc in the palace and is punished by having to consider his actions for 500 years. The only way he can be saved is to accompany Tang Sanzhuang (Edmond Leung) to the west and retrieve the Sutra. On the way there, Sanzhuang adopts the White Dragon Horse (Andy Hui), Sandy (Sam Li) and Piggy (Eric Kot) as disciples and the five travel together. Along the route, they meet many demons and spirits sent by the demon king and much hardship, but the five eventually defeat them all and complete their mission.

    Thanks Charmaine - glad you are enjoying them! I am just translating them from the Chinese ones on the TVBI site, so if you have any you want me to do then just let me know!! It's sad, but it keeps me occupied - plus I get to find out what the shows are about, I guess.

    Hope TVB brings out something good for me to watch soon...
