It's pretty new. I think it was released late 2005/early 2006.

u're welcome...supposedly it is a drama with a sad ending. can i suggest buying from the net...the dvds are not expensive but the shipping cost is pretty steep so i usually bulk order.

recommendation:1) this series is highly regarded among his mainland fans

I first saw Liu Ye act in "Ghost Inside," the horror movie starring him and Barbie Xu Xi Yuan. Neither of them say much throughout the movie, but he has quiet stage presence and I liked him right away. His eyes and his profile are pretty distinctive.

I've started watching "Jing Ke Cuan Qi", an ancient series of his, and plan to catch a modern series where he says more than those few comforting lines he said to Da S I've seen so far. He also stars in the early Communist era series "Xie Se Lang Man."

Chen Kun and him starred with Zhou Xun in the movie "The Little Seamstress" that I have yet to watch. I've heard mixed reviews about it.

Overall I find Liu Ye a quiet, serious, almost mournful actor when he's not smiling, but he's really sweet when he grins.

i've watched some of his shows...cant remember their names...

To me his pretty good looking except that i'll never watch his shows more then once. they usually quite abstract and show the sad reality of life..haha..

gives the impression of someone mature and serious.. guys like that give quite a stable feeling.

Liu Ye is a really awesome actor. I've seen several series by him, and he's quite versatile. He only generally acts in modern mainland productions, so doesn't tend to get a lot of recognition on spcnet, but I'd say he's one of the 'hot' actors in mainland right now.

Series I've seen him in:
1) Xue Se Lang Man (the first time I saw him- found his acting really good, but disliked his character, Zhong Yue Min). The first part of this series is quite good, but the latter half drags.
2) Na Shen Me Zheng Jiu Ni Wo De Ai Ren (I think this is his debut series, or at least the series that shot him to stardom. This is a really really good series and totally worth watching, and the ending was really good, because it had quite an awesome twist. Again though, his character is really somber and the ending is quite sad)
3) Tian He Jiu (This is an ancient series which I really liked. He costars with Sun Li, whom he also costarred with in "Xue Se Lang Man", again.)
4) Yi Zhen Jian Xue (This is already mentioned. His character here is a policeman who is more open/joking then some of his other characters (more like Zhong Yue Min from XSLM). But sadly, the ending is also quite tragic. Lots of deaths)
5) Xiang Tian Zhen De Niu Sheng Tou Xiang. Rough translation is "Surrendering to the Innocent Girl". Basically, he's a bad boy (but is really good on the inside) who falls in love with an innocent, sweet school girl. She reforms him, but her family disapproves. Anyway, a really sad, bittersweet love story. A little Romeo-Juliety, but so much more. I really liked this one.

I dont find Liu Ye very good-looking but he's a good actor. Haven't seen any of his mainland projects (with the exception of "Curse of the Golden Flower") though. The only works I've seen him in are HK ones like "Floating Landscape" and "Mob Sister" etc.

He's currently working on a new movie (with a mega-budget) entitled "Nanjing, Nanjing", which is directed by Lu Chuan and co-stars Gao Yuan Yuan and Qin Lan. The film commemorates the historical Nanjing Massacre and is expected to release next year.

In Floating Landscape and Lan Yu, he played 100% nice guys. Very different from the violent villain in Blood Brothers.

Oh so that's what u mean, I know that I will love him even more when he is playing as nice guy but even if he play good and bad I will still like him and be his number 1 fan. I love him either way.
