Yang Tiexin recovered from his fall off the ravine and changed his name into Mu Yi. He and his adopted daughter travelled across the land in search of his wife and Guo Jing's mother. Yang and Mu Nianci wandered all provinces for many years but all in vain. He eventually got the idea of erecting a podium and let his daughter fight young men, hoping to find Guo Jing this way…

I have not read this part of LOCH. Can someone please elaborate on Yang Tiexin's thought process? Of all the possible methods to find Guo Jing, How on earth did he end up choosing to sponsor a fight? I mean, is there some reason to believe that Guo Jing would be likely to come to the fight?

The improbable thought processes of Yang Tiexin have been touched upon many times before by various members of this forum. The better question that has been raised previously is why didn't he just go to Mt Zhongnan to seek out Qiu Chuqi and Zhuan Chen sect?

I probably need to consult the novel on this matter, but... what was Yang Tiexin's plan? Was it like, whenever somebody fights Mu Nianci, then if he wins, Yang would ask if he is Guo Jing? I just can't fathom how it would work realistically...

I think he's simply a victim of plot-holes.
