Post Sex Discrimination in E-Mei Sect?

In Heavenly Sword and the Dragon Sabre, the E-Mei Sect consists of MALE disciples, which was rarely portrayed in/during TV adaptations as far as I know. These MALE disciples have lesser power than compared to their FEMALE counterparts in the E-Mei Sects.

So, the Male disciples have lesser power, was this a law pass down by the founder, Guo Xiang, or was it slowly implemented after Guo Xiang's era? So, being a male disciple in E-mei Sect, does this means that you have absolutely no chance of being named as the next sect leader?

Wouldn't it be weird if a male becomes the E-Mei Sect's Leader?

In GL's novels, Emei had male leaders!

Yeah those Emei feminazis.... However, on the road to Brightness Peak, Miejue did announce that whoever plays the biggest part in eliminating the Ming Cult and bringing victory to Emei school would be named her successor, regardless of gender.

The E Mei School did have male disciples and there was sex discrimination, Miejue Shi-Tai did not like men so the male disciples had an inferior status in E Mei. Most readers/fans believe that those male disciples during the time of E Mei were actually students of Guhong Zi (the martial arts brother of Miejue Shi-Tai). If she disliked male disciples she would not have accepted them in the first place.

The E Mei School was a rather inconsistent school in both Gu Long and Jin Yong novels. Because in Gu Long's world, sometimes the E Mei was an all Buddhist nun school (3rd Young Master's Sword). But sometimes it was a school for only Taoist priests (Legendary Siblings).

In Jin Yong's universe, it was also a bit strange at times. For instance, during the time of the Smiling Proud Wanderer, the E Mei leader was the Buddhist monk Jinguang [金光上人]. However, later on when both Sun and Moon Sect and orthodox martial arts schools attacked Xiang Wentian, there were four Taoist priests (about 50+ years old) who were martial arts experts of the E Mei School.
So, the E Mei in the Smiling Proud Wanderer consisted of both Taoist and Buddhist disciples. They had a Buddhist monk as leader but they also had Taoist priests who were exponents of the school.
In the Young Flying Fox both Yuan Ziyi and her nameless teacher were both Buddhist nuns of the E Mei School.

P.S. E Mei was mentioned in The Ode of Gallantry, The Sword Stained with Royal Blood, The Duke of Mount Deer.

E Mei, last I saw there were male disciples. Actually, that was all I SAW males. Maybe I didn't get a good enough look...

I believe it is still functioning as a Kung Fu sect in the mountains.

Yes, it does still exist. In fact, someone whom claims to be from E-mei appeared on a show on Hunan TV.

Plenty of fictional sects don't even admit women, so a little reverse discrimination is no big deal. However a lot of people think JY was too cruel to condemn Gu Xiang to a loveless life just because she missed out on Yang Guo. Her behavior in ROCH really didn't strike many as the fatalistic and obssessive type that would get hung up on one man much like XLN did.

At least, she did good with her remaining single life. How many other girls in Jin Yong novels actually established a big sect like she did? Look at people like Li Mo Chou, Mei Fang Gu, Lin Chao Ying and some of Duen Zheng Sun's mistresses. All wasted their talents and lives for a man who doesn't want them.

Btw, Zhang Shan Feng also remain single what.

So Guo Xiang created a big sect full of man-haters and sissies, which makes her better than the other gals who couldn't multiply their hatred for men?

Guo Xiang might not have wasted her talents but she bloody did waste her life for a man who loved someone else.

The only one who can be considered an man-hater is Mi Jue Si Tai. Who else hates men there? And who are the sissies?

Because she didn't get married and rise children and help her husband in his career like Huang Rong, that means she wasted her life?

I will post a photo of me feeding the wild monkeys on the peak of Emei (which is what the mountain is famous for nowadays).
