I think that's funny too, but I like Weng Jia Ming, so I don't mind at all.

I loved this series! It's one of my favorite series.
I already knew how the series was going to end, however I found myself still weeping because the actors played their roles so well.

The character development was also done really well, I was routing for all the couples.

All of them? Who did you prefer -- Guan Hong/Yelu Xie or Guan Hong/Yang Wu Lang? Liu Lang/Pan Ren Mei's daughter or Liu Lang/Princess Chai?

Yes, it was one of the most poignant series of '06 (or ever)not only because of the story, but the acting.
Tears, tissues.... vicarious sorrow, you could say.

Dunno about you guys, but the part where Yang Ye was reaching for the snack his wife had prepared for him as he died broke my heart.
I wasn't too sure, as I suspect some people may not like Yang Ye for his rigid regard toward laws.

As for when Yang Qi Lang was shot by those arrows, I wanted to rip those Liao pups apart. But since I was so busy crying.....

Just for the sake of nostalgia.

Sorry if these gifs have been posted before, though I don't see why repetition in this case would hurt.

    AHHH!
Thanks for the pictures! Brings back memories. I've seen variations of the story, so I knew the ending would be tragic (unless they changed it, which would have been nice, but probably would have killed the story). But I have to agree with everyone, I just couldn't stop crying. I've mentioned this earlier, but I have to attribute my intense lachrimal reaction to the character development and the wonderful acting on everyone's part; each character just felt so real and "relatable".

Does anyone know what happens to Peter Ho's character in history? The series didn't really delve too much into that complex side-story and kind of just ended.

I love the smallest yang, that little girl is beyond adorable. I need to kidnap her. LOL.

I wonder about Yang Si Lang's true fate myself, having only seen opera renditions of the episode where he reunited with his mother.
How can we ever know, though? His tale has been embroidered and embellished over time.

I agree. Yang Ba Mei is just too adorable.

I love how close the actors seem to be, as much of a family as the Yang clan that they were selected to portray.

Yeah, I'd like to know what really happens to Si Lang as well, I remember reading in this forum somewhere that he's supposed to have a son with the Liao Princess and he does remember his past, but he doesn't leave her. But his son goes back to the Yang family and takes up the Yang surname.

They suffered a tragic fate that they did not merit.
