If they were trapped before the 5 coffins room, that would explain how they never passed the 5 coffins room but that also wouldn't make sense since GX's room is beyond the 5 coffins. If they were trapped after the coffin room then they shouldn't be startled to see the 5 coffins. The only logical explanation I can think of is that they did pass the 5 coffins room but since it is pitch dark, they didn't really notice the coffins, until when they got back and had torches with them. Err sorry for my pondering over such an insignificant small matter.

This part bothered me as well, especially since the entrance to the secret chamber below Gu Mu was in one of the coffins. When Guo Fu and the others were trapped and fumbling around in the dark they couldn't help but find at least one coffin! Big Boo-boo by JY? I wonder if Athena noticed it? I think I'll ask her.
