Want to tackle LOCH with me? The earlier translated chapters will take a major effort [and a lot of time for me] to clean up to the stage where your talents and patience will be needed. It could take me a week or more to do some of the chapters.Originally Posted by Bangs

great work. Really appreicate the translation work. Thought I will help out and do my little share and here is what I got
The monk’s shoulder hit ( deletehis on) the ground but he stood up immediately, thus showing that he is (delete appearing to be) very agile. His face was red with fury and he shouted some unintelligible words (delete that seemed). Guo Jing and Huang Rong knew he was (Da’erba, the second disciple to) Golden Wheel Monk’s (Jinlun Fawang) (delete second disciple Da’erba) but they (add) (delete and) did not know how Master Tan Hua and Old Master Zhao captured him.
(paragraph 3) The man, Qingling Zi (Green Spirit Sage), said a few more words in Tibetan to him and handed Da’erba his weapon, the golden rod, which was taken away when he was captured by the eight experts.
(Paragraph 6)
Several Beggar Clan members could not control themselves and jumped towards the stage, attempting to stop the fight. However the eight experts, Shi brothers and Xishan Ghosts surrounded the stage and prevented anyone from gaining the stage. Although the Beggar Clan had many people, they were held back and could not get onto the stage. Amidst the confusion Qingling Zi turned around and went up the stage and (delete pulled away) (took) He Shiwo’s metal staff (from him). He Shiwo was shocked and tried to snatch it back but was blocked by Da’erba’s rod and could not advance a single step.
( paragraph 7)
Guo Jing and Huang Rong could not guess why Yang Guo sent these people here to create trouble, but since the first two presents he gave Guo Xiang were beneficial to Xiangyang, (delete so) they guessed this third present (similarly) should not mean any harm. So the Guo couple (just) stood by and watched silently.
[paragraph 18)
Guo Xiang thought about what her mother (had) just said and (replied) (delete said), “Ah, his ugly face is actually a disguise made of flour. This face is really repulsive, after glancing once I don’t want to see it anymore.”
paragraph 26
Huang Rong said, “It’s precisely because he recognizes him that they’re fighting. That year at Chongyang Palace, Yang Guo used his sword to pin down Da’erba and Hou Du but Hou Du didn’t want to risk his life so he deserted Da’erba. His master had run (ran) away. This incident was witnessed by the whole the Quanzhen Sect; you must have heard of that too.”
Paragaraph 27
Zhu Ziliu laughed, “But with you around Madam Guo, he can (not) hide anything from us.”
pargraph 32
Then two ‘peng’ sounds were heard and two projectiles flew through the air side by side and pierced Hou Du’s chest. The projectiles were small and seemed like pebbles but the force (behind them) was mighty. Hou Du leaned back and collapsed backwards, throwing up a pool of blood. He was dead.
Guo Xiang saw that (looked at his piercing eyes and shuddered ) (dlete his eyes were piercing) and she shuddered), (but she thought of Reverend Yideng who she met at the Black Dragon Marsh) (dlete she met Reverend Yideng), so she (reasoned) (dlete thought), “Reverend Yideng is kind and benevolent, so this monk should also be a good person.” She answered, “I’m named Guo, and I’m looking for someone.”
Fawang was clever and alert, so how could he miss Guo Xiang’s change in expression? He sighed, “He’s my savior, we’ve not met for more than twenty years, and then I heard a rumour that he had passed away. I’m very sad, so I came here to pay my respects. Ah, heaven must be blind to make a hero’s life (delete is) so short.” When he said this, tears started to fall. His internal strength is very strong and he can control his entire body’s functions, so he could cry at will.
However Guo Xiang was persistent in asking about Yang Guo, so as he was leaving (delete so) she stopped him as he mounted the horse.
Guo Xiang said, “I told you about my father yet you did not (delete never told) tell me anything about Yang Guo. So where is he?”
Fawang flipped his sleeves and followed behind. Guo Xiang thought about what he said so she took the reins and said, “Big monk, I’ll be waiting for you out front.” Before she finished speaking, the horse started galloping and charged forward (dlete s).
He looked round the temple and hoped he could find any traces his father had left behind although so many years had passed. He went to the back of the temple and found a grave and a tombstone between two large trees and the tombstone was covered in snow. He (delete waved) (brushed) the snow away with his sleeve and read the inscription. When he read it he became very angry. It read, “Unfilial Disciple Yang Kang’s Grave” and the sub-heading read, “Inscribed by his Useless Teacher Qiu Chuji”.
Ke Zhen’E smashed his walking staff on the floor and said angrily, “That Yang Kang acknowledged a scoundrel as his father and betrayed his country for wealth; he was a despicable animal. I, Ke Zhen’E, am a true man who has never let down the sky or the Earth, how can you compare that traitor with me, the Flying Bat? You know (you can kill me but you cannot insult me) I can be killed but not be insulted (Ke Sha Bu Ke Ru – A rather common phrase at that time)?”
Bangs is the official proof-reader for this corrections thread and I'll let him comment on your post. Athena is one of THE expert on Jin Yong's books and her comments and corrections are always welcome. Thanks for your interest JAJA9.![]()
There is nothing wrong with JAJA9's corrections, he simplified the sentence constructions. Though if we do this with every sentence of each chapter then we MIGHT actually be changing the translation style of each respective translator and we don't want that to happen. Still I encourage JAJA9 to please point out if he finds out anything amiss while reading the thread whether it be something we are yet to tackle or something we may have missed or something I found which is questionable.Everyone's welcome to share their ideas, that will help James greatly and make the necessary editing to complete ROCH.
Im just one person afterall, I dare not claim that my abilities are full proof.![]()

I've finished the update to chapter 37 and completed chapter 40's
name fixes and other things. In a moment of weakness I revisited Athena's 3rd edition changes and ended up going back to some chapters to revise the unfairly reviled Lu Wende to his weak-kneed brother Lu Wenhuan. Had another assist from Athena who found a problem with one paragraph in chapter 40 and spent much research time coming up with a correction. Maybe she's a reincarnation of Guan Yin, the Goddess of Compassion.
