    Default The Commonwealth Games

Yep, they're started already. I'm really excited! Especially the swimming! Well, it's great they hosted it here, and played our anthem! Anyways, I'm watching the Intro right now. I can't till things kick off!

currently, we have over 37 medals (gold in cycling, swimming, triathon and even gymnastics! most of the medals are in swimming ) in this tournament. i always said we were great in the commonwealth games. if ian thorpe was here, he'd win almost any of the men's swimming races! but where's the US? there's little to no medals in sight.

What do you mean by "where's the US?". I hope you're not talking about the USA. Cos it's not a Commonwealth country and therefore, can't be in the CG.

You mean U.S.A can't participate in the games? No wonder why no one replied. They don't know what it is!

They don't participate in anything. The Commonwealth Games are only for
Commonwealth countries ie former members of the British Empire.

Are you just plain stupid or are there other reasons for making those posts?

Actually I never knew the British have so many colony nations before, until I saw the Commonwealth Games on TV.

Anyone saw the swimming competitions? Australia is strong, almost all of the swimming events were dominated by them.

There used to be a saying: The sun never sets on the British Empire..........because God would never trust an Englishman in the dark.

    Or something along those lines.

They're so strong in everything it's annoying. Not to mention boring.

Obviously, you don't know the Commonwealth Games either. The USA is not part of the Commonwealth, get it? When you heard of the Commonwealth Games, you never wondered what Commonwealth meant? Were you not curious and wondered what that word stood for? You never cease to amaze me how you keep creating posts you know nothing about.

can't you just leave me alone? you're always either criticising me or insulting me. why can't there just be peace and tolerance? i wasn't the one who started the argument! so please, just let me be.

It's for your own good. Just have a minimum knowledge of what you're going to talk about before you start a thread or before you open your mouth for that matter. You don't have to know the history of the Commonwealth Games but at least know what it's about. Don't you think that's reasonable? Every sane person does that you know...

I find that Australians are always strong in swimming, even in the olympics. But we are not that good when it comes to track and field. Ever since Cathy freeman retired, there hasn't been anyone since, who has the hype that she had on track and field. Wheras in swimming if one good athlete retires, there plenty more to take their place.
