my first impression was something about arm muscles.

i must be deluded, but while we're on that topic, i think tennis players should stop trying to "buff up."

again, this leads back to Federer being a classic tennis player. Other players like Nadal and Hewitt have all done a lot of... gym? weightlifting? something like that to get their muscles to double in size in time for the next Aus Open (it's the only one i really keep up with since it's the only one on at Aus at appropriate times. Vaguely remember waking up at 5am to watch Federer play at US open)

of course, it's a decent explanation as to why some of these players have so much strength, but i think it's unnecessary and i prefer the slimmer build, for example Federer.

On another note, i think Nadal has very bad fashion sense. He spent the whole Australian Open picking at his "long" shorts because they were too tight and obviously uncomfortable. On the other hand, Federer has pretty awesome taste in clothing, he always looks good in the clothes he wears, apart from this time where he wore all white, which looked extremely dorky, but it was, of course, in a very cute way.

On the female side, i think Sharapova has ok taste in clothes, but comes off looking better than most players because of her thin frame, except at her shoulders, which are huge and look out of proportion to her waist. Hantachova is another one that always looks good. Hingis always looked nice too, even without the more "showy" outfits the other two tend to pick. Serena Williams is a fashion disaster.

There ends my rant for the day.

at least the clay season is over now so i don't have to see nadal winning every tournament. there's no chance that nadal is going to reach the final of wimbledon this year...

i was really surprised when Nadal made it through to the finals last year! I thought, Nadal + grass = 3rd round

Either way, Nadal is no match for Federer on grass.
Does anyone know if Andy Murray is playing? I think Wimbledon needs a UK finalist, and i'd love to see Murray v Federer.

In fact, if anyone watched the Murray v Nadal match at the Aus Open, i'd love to see a match like that again on grass, where Murray has the upper hand and might beat Nadal. Five awesome sets of tennis in that match!

i haven't seen safin play "well" for a while now. I'm not sure how he did at the French open if he played there, but it was obviously not magnificent, and he was knocked out of Aus Open by Andy Roddick in the 3rd round (talk about quality matchups in the first few rounds!)

From memory, the former world number 1s such as Safin, Hewitt and Roddick only won at the US open, no other grand slams.

I think Roddick should fare pretty well at Wimbledon too, at least better than his first round exit at the French Open. I wouldn't be too surprised if we get a Federer- Roddick final without rain delays this year.

Sharapova is supposedly still 'injured' so she might not fare as well this year at Wimbledon. I can't think of a particular favourite for the women's side though.

hewitt won wimbledon back in 03 and safin won aus.open in 2005. can't stand that besides federer nadal now has the most GS of the players on tour.

Oops, forgot about Safin's win at Aus Open. Kept remembering his horrible loss to Johansson? and then Federer of course. And then that was the year, 2005, where he beat Federer in the semis... 10-8 in the 5th or something like that... that was the last time i got this devastated about tennis, and i didn't pay attention to the final because it involved two players i didn't like much.

How did Hewitt manage to win Wimbledon? He doesn't seem to have the right game to win Wimbledon...

I'm horrified by the fact that Nadal has a 21-0 record at Roland Garros and Federer hasnt' managed to win one

I didn't realise Nadal now does have the most GS apart from Federer. Well, so long as they both keep their form, Federer's going to be getting 3 times more grand slams as Nadal at least

hewitt beat nalbandian it was all before federer became the new king of tennis.
i seriously didn't think that nadal would win FO this year. i don't envy federer's chances to win FO.

Hewitt + Nalbandian final? wow that surprises me... they're two more unsuspecting candidates on grass.

I think this was Federer's best shot at the French Open, unless Nadal gets injured before next year's tournament. Federer is getting 'old' compared to all the new players that come in, and i'm not sure he can keep this dominance for more than another 1-2 years.

Tennis is not going to be the same without Federer

Does anyone know when did Sharapova loose in French Open 2007?
I was rooting for her, but when I got to see the woman final, I didn't see her, so disappointed.
