Lam Ching Ying as Qu Yang:

This was in the influential swordplay film "Swordsman I" (1990), directed by the legendary master of wuxia film-making, King Hu. This film, along with Tsui Hark's "Once Upon a Time in China" (1991), started the popular wuxia/swordplay film movement in the early 1990s. However, I myself am not a big fan of "Swordsman I." It's a very classy production but not particularly exciting, especially when compared to its frenetic follow-up "Swordsman II".

My 2 favorite things from "Swordsman I" are 1) the music, and 2) Wu Ma and Lam Ching Ying as Liu Zhengfeng and Qu Yang, particularly the latter.

I don't remember if I've already posted this but currently one of my favorite wuxia films is the 1994 Wong Jing parody of HSDS "Kung Fu Cult Master". It features one of my favorite actors, Leung Kar Yan, in a villainous role as one of the Xuanming Elders. I absolutely love this performance, particularly when the Xuanming Elders and Zhang Wuji started blasting white powder at each other near the end.

new hsds should have sun fei fei in the role. new zzr whether on pics or in video clips does zero justice to the character. what a pity, what a pity....
