In Heavenly Sword and the Dragon Sabre, during the MT. Wanpan meeting for the viewing of the Dragon Sabre, Golden Lion Xie Xun appeared and snatched away the Dragon Sabre from the Tianying Set. He howled and causes all the people (except ZCS, YSS, Bai Guishou) to lose their memory and become idiots. This awesome and scary ability, can anyone else do it in DGSD, LOCH, ROCH, XAJH or in XKX???

So, against martial arts experts like the greats, TSTL, LQS, XF, XZ, HZD, ZSF, LHC, DFBB, SPT.. can they withstand it? Let's say they did not have the time to cover their ears due to the sudden howl, will they suffer the same state as those on Mt. Wanpan. Will they also lose their memories or become idiots.. I never heard of anyone except of XX who have this awesome ability except for LQS, maybe?

At that time, Xie Xun is already better than the seven Wudang heroes, 5 Kunlun elders, at least second best among the four Ming Sect protectors.

Yeung Gor and South Emperor 1 Deng demonstrated a similar ability to project their voices offensively during their encounter with Ying Goo towards the end of ROCH (although neither used it so destructively; 1 Deng used it for long distance communication only; Yeung Gor used it to force Ying Goo out of her house and face up to forgiving Kau Cheen Yan's murdering of her son decades earlier, not to harm her). Similarly, Gwok Jing was able to project his voice at Seung Yeung Fortress so that tens of thousands of Mongol troops spread across the vicinity could hear it quite clearly. Now the abilities exhibited by Yeung Gor, 1 Deng, and Gwok Jing were not the same as Tse Tsun's Lion's Roar; the Lion's Roar was designed specifically to disrupt the functioning of the opponent's nervous system whereas Yeung Gor's , etc., long distance shouting wasn't. The inner power of Yeung Gor, 1 Deng, and Gwok Jing, however, were much more powerful than Tse Tsun's, and if any of the three had learned the Lion's Roar skill, they'd pull it off much more impressively than Tse Tsun could.

The Elites of DGSD and the Greats of L/ROCH could easily withstand it. Remember how North Beggar Hung 7 Gung, West Poison Au Yeung Fung, and Chow Bak Tung were able to resist the sound of East Heretic Wong Yerk See's flute during the competition between Gwok Jing and Au Yeung Hak for Wong Yung's hand in marriage on Peach Blossom Island? The sound of Wong Yerk See's flute would easily have drowned out/overriden Tse Tsun's roar. If the other Greats (and even young Gwok Jing playing the drums) could resist Wong Yerk See's flute, then resisting Tse Tsun's roar would be child's play by comparison.

Yep. All of which meant that his powers were insignificant compared to a L/ROCH Great.

I think YG proboally could hurt some one with his howl, but im not sure to what extent(to the degree that XX injured his opponents). In the fight against the Shi brothers vs the XiShan ghost he caused most of the fighters and animals to fall due to his howl, but held back some in fear that he would hurt the 3rd(?) shi brother.

Also in the scene with YG and 1deng, he let loose a seemingly more powerful howl that shook and frightened GX to the core, the howl was was intolerable to her despite having her ears plugged, she needed 1deng to help transfer energy to help calm her energy flow down, but even so after he stopped she still felt dizzy and shaken.

The basic rule of thumb in JY's stories seems to be:

1. If you have good inner power, you can howl/scream/yell while releasing your inner force and it will cause pain/discomfort/damage to those within earshot.

2. As long as you have equal or greater inner power, you will be immune.

3. Some specific skills like HYS's flute playing and XX's Lion Roar give more spectacular effects but even without a specific skill, good inner power can still disrupt those around you with weaker strength when you just shout.

4. XX's roar seemed spectacular because the people around him at that time were all relatively weak fighters. If he had went to the 1st Mt Hua Tournament or went up to Zhang San Feng and the Du Generation Shaolin Elders and started roaring he would have looked like an utter idiot!
