See? I still can be objective and unbiased as I did say Hu Ge was not the best Guo Jing for me. But that's not stopping me from admiring his sheer gorgeousness.

MORE PIC SPAM OF HU GE, YUAN HONG, ARIEL AND LIU SHI SHI PLEASE.

    Oh of course!

Actually one of my favourite scenes was when Ouyang Ke did the toad thing on the Mongolian troops besieging the Jin capital. After the coup and they got settled properly in the Jin palace, Wanyan Honglie tried his best to get a physician to cure his legs, and Ouyang Ke told him it's OK, he has learned that his life is not all about his two legs.

I really liked the conversation between Wanyan Honglie and Ouyang Ke after that scene, when Ouyang Ke said he can sense Wanyan Honglie still cared very much for Yang Kang. And he said he feels Yang Kang was "stupid" not to accept Wanyan Honglie as a father. That was the part which made me feel for these two so-called villains whose characterizations are a lot more 3D in this series and really want Wanyan Honglie and Yang Kang to be happy as father-and-son.

Li Jie looks so good in period costume! I wish he stops doing those moderns and come back to doing good old period dramas!

Watching that part I wished they (Wanyan Honglie and Ouyang Ke) could become father and son instead. So sad. OYK wanted his father to love him while WYHL wanted YK/his son to love him. *sigh*

this is soo funny! And I love all the pics. But my favorite would be Hu Ge, wearing blue, and Ariel on horseback. I like that hairstyle for him too. Well, in terms of costume for Hu Ge, this is the second favorite (first would be the myth)

By the way, I thought the joker had some posts with sense too (at least before he became way too adamant at wanting to make people think of BBJX the way he does). So I refrained from putting him in ignore list. But I really hate know-it-all people who thinks everyone else should think the way they do and push their opinions on others, so I guess the ignore list helped me this time.

    HE ZHUO YAN

You do realize that Chinese actresses can look extremely different from one picture to the next, right?

He Zhuo Yan also looks completely different in Journey to the West (2012) ... than how she looks in Royal Tramp (2008) or Yi Tian Tu Long Ji (2009).

You see, all of these images are of He Zhou Yan ... so now who feels like a moron? Generally speaking, if you don't know what you're talking about, you shouldn't talk at all.

And considering how deep shallowness runs around here, I had to choose a prettier pic.

Otherwise she'd be getting insulted for her looks like you people have insulted Li Ya Peng for being "retarded" or Zhou Jie for his oddly-shaped face. Because that's what you do around here, isn't it? Weak.

TBH, I actually prefer ZJZ's earlier works like SPW, TLBB, LOCH03 and ROCH06, even though I didn't like ALL the cast (must I? Seriously...). I do like LOCH03 and I really love Zhou Xun - I've been following her career since LOCH03 (nothing wrong with being a fan of both Zhou Xun and Ariel Lin right?). But the recent JTTW was a major commercial and critical failure in China (I actually live and work in China, unlike these two jokers who probably never even held a decent conversation with a Mainland Chinese citizen). JTTW was under heavy criticism for the overblown budget, majority of which was suspected to have gone to the fat salaries of ZJZ and Hollywood honchos James Cameron and Neil Gaiman who collaborated with ZJZ on the series. Notice that it took a long time to finally broadcast, and when it did, it was kept out of CCTV (previously the usual channel that aired ZJZ series) and only aired on a small provincial TV station. It became more of a direct-to-DVD/direct-to-Internet series rather than being broadcasted on a major powerful channel. That's terrible for a production that costed RMB300 million. JTTW did nothing for He Zhuo Yan's career and she's not anywhere near Liu Shi Shi's level of fame and star status despite being groomed by a huge company like Huayi.

OK, I think we have digressed way too much.

LMFAO ... the only thing dumber than writing off a series because you don't think the cast is "attractive" enough ... is writing off a series for bulls*** political reasons that have NOTHING to do with the quality of the series.

Zhang Ji Zhong's JTTW adaptation has more deep philosophy than your feeble mind could ever wrap itself around. The mind-dizzying discussion between Nie Yuan's Xuan Zang and the Taoist Tree Immortals alone far, far surpasses everything else on Chinese TV in terms of philosophical depth ... something I'm sure YOU are mentally unable to appreciate.

Since you've identified yourself as speaking fluent Mandarin (as do I), make an attempt at translating those three minutes of philosophical discussion into English (I already posted the video in that thread). Can't understand what they're saying? Too deep for you? Not familiar with such deep Taoist/Buddhist philosophies ... despite the fact that you've watched ... how many wuxia and costume dramas now? That's what I THOUGHT.

And you "live and work in China?" Big whoop. I was born in Beijing and fly between China and the states whenever I wish. Did you have a POINT for bringing that up ... or were you just trying to show off that you live in China ... the same as 1.3 billion other people on this planet?

    Puh.

There has been a lot of issues with ZJZ and his recent JTTW in China which laisee was referring to, hence she talked about living in China and knowing what these issues are. But since no one is interested, she didn't elaborate. Anyway, you probably know, but you're in denial. Also, I don't think any of us are interested in Taoist/Buddhist philosophy stuff in this thread, so these are not relevant here at all.

Hence, let me PIC SPAM on what's relevant to LOCH08 - Hu Ge and Ariel from actual stills of the series!

As for the budget thing.....neil gaiman and james cameron didn't have anything to do with the tv series but this year zhang jizhong is planning to make a movie of Journey to the West with their help....

BINGO. That's it right on the mark.

Don't you just love it when idiots who don't know what the hell they're talking about insist on making fools of themselves? I sure as hell love pointing it out.

As IPlayWow has ALREADY pointed out, allow me to further elaborate.

Zhang Ji Zhong doesn't give a crap about what the Chinese government thinks, and he decided to do exactly what Jiu Nian did in Bao Lian Deng Qian Zhuan (2009) (the MASTERPIECE series that basically made out the heads of the Taoist Pantheon of gods to be the corrupt Chinese government officials). The entire trilogy is about the hardships and the trickiness associated with trying to change the Mandate of Heaven into something that isn't corrupt and oppressive. The series remains my #1 favorite for its unbelievably deep and relative philosophy, politics, and emotional drama. Millions are currently waiting for the sequel series to finish out the trilogy.

Zhang Ji Zhong followed BLDQZ's example, but unfortunately HIS series couldn't "fly under the radar" and came under scrutiny. ZJZ basically had Wu Yue (as Sun Wu Kong) use the words Tan Zang Wang Fa (practically translated as "bribes and corruption") to describe the operations in Hell ... and again imply the same political oppression in front of the entire Taoist Pantheon, targeting the Jade Emperor as the head of tyranny and corruption (again, Jiu Nian did this in Bao Lian Deng and Bao Lian Deng Qian Zhuan before Zhang Ji Zhong did ... this is what inspired him to do so in Journey to the West (2012)).

ZJZ and Wu Yue are a fantastic pair because they actually have the balls to speak out and defy oppressive government.

Surprisingly, NONE of it was censored out in the end ... it was all left in there in the final version ... which, BTW, is the single MOST uploaded series in YouTube history (by ten different uploaders), and it was IMMEDIATELY streamed by Qiyi.com, Sohu.com, Youku.com, and ALL of the other popular Chinese TV streaming websites as SOON as the series OFFICIALLY premiered back in January.

That makes it FAR more popular than some garbage series like LotCH 2008. You see, only shallow, emo, adolescent women with no wisdom or life experience would even bother to watch a "production" like this.

Shows what any of you know, doesn't it? Zhang Ji Zhong's epic production of Journey to the West (2012), controversial as it may be to all of the pea-brained idiots out there, remains INSANELY popular on a HIGHLY international scale, already sold and broadcast in dozens of countries worldwide.

They were questioned about it on Wo Ai Ji Ge Ci, on Zhejiang TV.

Zhang Ji Zhong admitted it outright in front of a live audience and TV cameras, and the hosts applauded him (and Wu Yue) for it afterwards (the video above).

Shows what laisee knows. Please say more stupid and WRONG things so that we can correct you. It's hilarious. If Zhang Ji Zhong were here himself, he'd be doing the exact same thing.

As far as the rest of the bullcrap posts in the last 48 hours go ... I think the last several pages of worthless images of UGLY actors with no acting ability to speak of ... speaks for itself ... and volumes about the level of stupidity being dealt with here.

The people in this thread don't know that much about ZJZ's JTTW because they are not interested! We are interested in LOCH08 that's why we participate in this thread.

What are you going to do? Recommend to ZJZ to sue us and put us in jail for not wanting to watch his interviews and his JTTW? Then I'd say ZJZ and you are far worse than the very government (supposedly) criticized in JTTW for not allowing Freedom of Speech!

OK, back to the relevant topic...

That's funny ... considering this thread had been DEAD for three months before I posted a reply only a matter of DAYS ago.

Isn't that funny. My decision to make that post and thereby bring this thread back into VIEW is the ONLY reason why EVERY single post that has been made in the last x number of pages even EXIST.

It's funny how one little action from me influenced everything that came thereafter from all of you (i.e., my control over your lives is great, it would seem).

It's called yin yang. Fascinating, isn't it.

YET another irrelevant post! And I don't give a damn about Taoist Yin Yang whatever stuff because I don't believe in it at all. I dare you to sue me for it.

NuDaFu actually revives this thread from time to time and gives really insightful comments which are valued by lots of us here. And we do comment back.

Let's get back to the relevant topic. Here's my favourite battle scene in LOCH08. I did feel that LSS acted pretty well here. She conveyed that surprise that her character must have felt about WYHL's admirable leadership on the battlefield...which led pretty well to her decision to save him from an arrow intended to kill him after she saw all the soldiers sacrificing their lives for him, herself and OYK.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA! ROTFLMFAO!!!

Watching a crapload of wuxia TV dramas ... and then turning around and saying that you don't care about "Taoist or Buddhist philosophies" ... is like reading the Bible every night ... and then turning around and saying you don't give a crap about Christian beliefs.

It's like eating an entire pizza and then not being able to remember what it even tasted like afterwards.

    Wow. Just wow.

That statement alone proves that EVERY Chinese wuxia or mythology series you've ever watched has been a WASTE. LMFAO ... you're watching dramas that are littered with Taoists, and you have no clue whatsoever, do you?

YOUR ANCESTORS ARE ROLLING IN THEIR GRAVES.

I'd hang my head if I were you, because as they say ... you've lost anything resembling "face."

All of the "face" that your ancestors might have had has now been completely LOST on the likes of you.

Watching wuxia but not respecting Taoism is about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life.

It's like hating Japan but being addicted to anime.

If Zha Liang Yong were here, he'd slap the S*** out of all of you. Even the producers/cast of this crappy series would hang their heads in SHAME on your behalf.

So come to think of it, you people really shouldn't be watching any of these dramas at all. You really have no right to do so.
