well all chinese series try to make it somewhat as realistic in setting as possible so you can t really say there copying. but the scenery like always by this Director always looks nice. hope the ost is good in this one as well as the other series the director directed.

I have a question. I am getting conflicting reports on the progress of this series. One report said the series will be out sometimes in July or August of this year. Another report said Hu Ge is retiring from acting and working on a directing career. Thus the series is cancel or delay forever. Which report is true. Is this series still going to made and will be out soon or it is never going to be made? There is also the chance they will replace the lead actor which will delay the release farther. Anybody who keep up with Chinese Entertainment News care to answer. Thank you.

Fron what I know, LOCH 2007 has already started filming and Ge Ge is back to working. This is news that I got from Ihuge. net, which is the most accurate source of Ge Ge info out there because Ge Ge's close friend and manager, Hana, posts up news in there. Ge Ge will undergo the final surgery on his face this month (he might've already done it) so there might be a small delay for him to heal and recuperate, but as for long delays, there doesn't seem to be any in the forseeable future.

There have already been tremendous groundwork laid out for LOCH 2007 and scenes were shot (as can be seen by the pictures) so I highly doubt that the production crew could easily just scrap this project and let it slide without batting an eyelash. IMHO, the makings of a series is all about profit...and bailing out of an elaborate project such as this one is definitely not a wise move profit-wise.

Hu Ge is a popular actor and he has already shot many scenes as Kwok Jing. His accident was a tragic thing to happen and it was a setback in his career. But I find that it is now that Ge Ge has more fans supporting him than ever before. There was an online conducted some time ago to see if his fans wanted him replaced. This was done a few weeks after his accident when no one was certain if he would be well enough to fill in the shoes of Kwok Jing. There was a massive support for Ge Ge; no one wanted the role filled with any other actor. So, the chances of Hu Ge being replaced is very, very unlikely at this late point in the game. Ge Ge may not *look* as naive as Li Ya Peng's Kwok Jing, but I'm sure he can carry the role just as effortlessly.

Hu Ge as a director? As much as I wouldn't mind seeing anything he directs, I don't think he has the experience to direct yet. His acting is still fairly raw and he humbly admitted that he has much to learn, so I think that he'll be sticking to acting for a few more years!

Hope this answers your questions. Again, this is just from what I know about Ge Ge and from what I've read about him online. But I think that for now, LOCH 2007 is not cancelled, Ge Ge will remain as Kwok Jing and unfortunately, we will not see a film directed by Ge Ge in the near future.

However, there is a controversial director ALSO named Hu Ge in China who is now being sued by Chen Kaige for his parody of the film, "The Promise." There IS a director by the name of Hu Ge....but it's not the actor, Hu Ge.....

Hahaha.....the director Hu Ge ( 胡戈 )'s films are really funny... the mantou video is really good!
Anyways, thnx AyaAsou for all the info on Ge Ge (BTW, when you guys call him that, do you mean Ge Ge as in "big brother", or Ge Ge as in "song song", which is the last character of his name repeated)! Hope he's getting better.......I agree that Ge Ge doesn't look as naiive and stupid as LYP, but after seeing him act in TWFX, I'm pretty confident he'll be able to pull it off. I'm so excited to see Ge Ge and Yi Chen together again........but it bugs me that in most of the off screen caps, Ge Ge is with XIE NA!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH GJ must end up with HR on screen and off screen...not HUA ZHENG!!!!...lolz, my rant is over now. Anyways, hopefully they'll finish filming soon, and maybe release more promotional clips!

i was going through the first few pages of this thread and man, some ppl are so negative... and the way they critisize the actors and actresses.. i quite hope that they are not reading some of the stuff said here.. they can be really demoralising.

anyway, the trailler seems good (background music enhanced). I've always been a fan of hu ge so i'll support this series. also, he and ariel lin showed great chemistry in tian wai fei xian! heard they worked well on and off screen and thats a very good thing. Its nothing like seeing coworkers enjoy working together!

I've never really read the book. Is Guo Jing suppose to be that ugly and dumb? At least, thats what ive been hearing... stuff about Hu Ge looks too handsome and alert to act as guo jing. haha... I never tend to compare remakes because I always watch each one as a totally new movie! Can't wait for the series to come out! Hope Hu Ge recovers soon!

I read on sina that the movie copyright had expired, but when Jin Yong heard of Hu Ge's plight, he extended the movie rights for another year with no extra charge. He also said he wanted to meet Hu Ge and sent him a message, something like :" after going through a tough time, you'll come out stronger" or somthing like that. sry, i cant exactly remember. thought i'd share the news though!

This director did not direct Liao Zai Zhi Shi, he was one of the producers only if im not wrong. In addition to all the series u listed, I think the series i liked best by him is "Book and Sword 2002" starring Vincent Zhao as Chen Jialuo. Many people didnt like that adaptation but i like it, its nothing over-the-top and exaggerating (except the ending maybe) and has very nice music, fights and decent acting.

really wow i thought it was same director considering the way the movie was produced like the graphics costumes and the way the movie was recorded, like the picture quality and setting. well anyways all of those movies were great with hu ge in there so of course this one will be as well since hu ge is a rising pop star and alot of elderly folks loves him in california as well after seeing him in cp yang warriors etc.

i don't think it was ever explicitly said that GJ was suppose to be ugly...they just said he wasn't extremely handsome and had thick brows and big eyes. hey, beauty in the eye of the beholder

I'm starting to like this production more and more. I just saw the newest Yang Saga with Hu Ge and Eddie Pang and the person who plays Yelu Xie is the same person who will play Yang Kang. I absolutely loved his portrayal of Yelu Xie...the right mixture of ruthlessness and honor. This version is supposed to give a little more limelight to Yang Kang than in previous adaptations and this actor (dunno his name) will likely pull it off.

Also, I really liked the Yang Saga adaptation and felt that its production was way better and more mature than TWFX and Chinese Paladin. If the director is continually improving, then my previous bias/fear that this LOCH will turn in a teeny bopper fest is laid to rest.

his name is Yuang Hong and i agree with you he will be an excellent Yang Kang as his acting is very versatile. he will even overshadow Hu Ge.

actually, judging from his resemblence to chilam, i think a switch in roles between hu ge & yuan hong might work just as well

    S Beaver:
Maybe...I hope they hurry up and finish filming and release it so we can see it! I even had a dream last night where I watched LOCH 07 and they made it so that it was about a bunch of people filming LOCH. And it started with GJ and HR in Mongolia....it was really weird.

Yeah, it was pretty freaky, I remember watching it and going "What? I waited this long for this?" But my expectations are pretty high for this adaption....Ge Ge and Yi Chen are both super excellent actors!
I love Ge Ge and Yi Chen's facial expressions here :
