Jilly! Or should I say long-lost sister? Haha, j/k. Wow, that’s funny that we said the same thing in two different threads about Ariel’s acting. So, I take it you’ll be watching LOCH in May? =D

Foreva, yup, couldn’t agree more. Ariel’s got the versatility to play just about any character. That’s why I can’t wait to see her take on Huang Rong =D And she looks the part, too.

I made my first set of LOCH art, and I’m hoping to make sets for each of the four main characters, plus some miscellaneous ones for LOCH, but it’ll take some time. I’ll post as I make them =)

Azn_angel89, yeah, Hu Ge does look really smart (‘cause he is, lol), but he’s pretty good at acting dumb. He hasn’t really had any roles where he had to act really dumb yet (in TWFX, he was more of a steady, hard-working, fairly smart, but just really naïve guy - not really to the level of Guo Jing’s slowness).

Lol, as for Hu Ge’s hair as Guo Jing, isn’t he supposed to look like a total country bumpkin when he first comes along and meets Huang Rong and sees the Joust for a Spouse, etc? I think the novel mentions something about him looking out of place. I dunno, I’m kinda confused about when and where he wears which hairstyle, lol.

JWalnut, I’m glad you checked out TWFX – I love Ariel and Hu Ge’s chemistry in it, and I’ll think they’ll have even better chemistry for LOCH =) It’s hard to tell for Hu Ge’s role, because I don’t think he’s ever played a character as slow as Guo Jing. I guess we’ll see in May… judging from some of his expressions in the previews, though, he looks pretty dumb, lol.

Ok, I'm going to have to agree with some people that I'm a bit skeptical of GG playing someone so dumb when he looks so smart lol. But then again, he's really good at acting.......so he should be able to pull it off. Let's all give him a chance! Who knows what he can do? And of course, Ariel's HR! Very excited to see that. I'm pretty confident about MNC's martial arts, and YK's cunningness (the guy looks like he was made to play villains lol).

Heh, yeah, Ge Ge does look really smart, so we’ll see. I think he’ll do a good job for the most part =) Can’t really tell until we see him actually acting as Guo Jing. Yup, I’m confident about Ariel’s acting, Liu Shi Shi’s martial arts and Yuan Hong’s acting/ability to portray a torn, complex character.

Latest LOCH news via an article in ihuge.net: Hu Ge is now dubbing Guo Jing's voice (and I assume some of the others are too) and sees it as an opportunity to bring out the most in the character again. He said he almost wishes LOCH filming hadn't had to end; he really misses all of the LOCH cast whom he worked with.

I'm keeping my eye out for this one. I had my doubts about Ariel Lin, but I think she just might make an impression by sheer enthusiasm. From the clips, she has this bright shine to her attitude that positively sparkles out of her eyes...you can she she is truly enjoying what she is doing. I support her for her spirit for now...I have to see her performance though to she if she will be a truly accomplished Huang Rong.

well everyone in china says how in adaptations before the li yah peng one, they were all acting dumb and li yah peng was actually that dumb. lol

hu ge looks too smart for the role, but oh well. at least hes hot or it could the fact that i saw him in chinese paladin and yang warriors and in those hes lively and clever. but i know he can act, so we'll just have to see!

Besides I don't think it will be too hard for a smart person to play a dumb person since all you really need is a good "blank stare" expression that can be called for at any time.

What I'm really worried about is Ariel playing a really smart character, i mean just look at her character in ISWAK and TKA... Sure smart can play dumb but can dumb play smart? ;p I hope people know I'm kidding when I say this.

i'm just afraid that when i actually get to watch the series i will not find it as good as i expected. maybe it's good, but when you expect something to be good it doesn't turn out to be as good. therefore, i don't hope to expect too much from it. however, i can't help but looking forward to it.

Yeah, I'm trying not to hope for *too* much, so that I can pleasantly surprised when it turns out well. Oh, there's a new teaser out! There are some of the same scenes intermingled with some new scenes. I like the visuals a lot (the acting and stuff), but the dubbing is a little weird, because I think this was made before self-dubbing by the actors was complete, so the voices sound different at different parts (mostly still sounds like the old dubbed voices, not their own voices?). They're supposed to be submitting the finished LOCH product by the end of this month for airing in May!

Oh, and some weird things I noticed - the voice dubber for Huang Rong (hopefully it will actually be Ariel in the end, but it's not yet in this trailer) is not good at pained cries. (like when Huang Rong gets injured and Guo Jing sweeps in to whisk her away to safety) At what seems like a serious, focused part when Ouyang Ke is falling, there is a frog going "ribbit." I don't really understand how that got in there. Oh, and then I'm a little weirded out by the strange/wrong impression that they're conveying in the trailer. Watch for the kiss... you'll know what I mean (I'm not talking about Yang Kang and Mu Nianci's kiss either :P)

The director for this series also directed Yang Warriors (along with Chinese Paladin and TWFX) so you see a lot of repeat actors. He also directs the Liao Zhai series so you'll probably see a lot of the Yang wives starring in the ghost stories as well.


I agree that the dubbed Huang Rong sounds pretty bad...her voice was too high and squeaky. And the kiss looked like it was initiated by HZ, not GJ so I'm not too worried.
