ZJZ's choice of Yang Lai Ping for the part of Mei Choufeng was brilliant!

At least looks wise, Anthony is totally cool. The gaze, the mannerism, that edginess to the stillness creating a dangerous WYS persona. I don't like Ba Yin very much...he's kinda overused. He looks the part but destroys it with his fake acting. In ROCH as Jin Lun, during the Jue Qing Gu part, he looks into the camera and says "there will be drama to watch!"...ugh, I love my antagonists so I get very disappointed when a poor actor/actress plays the part.
Actually I really like the actor who played Huang Yaoshi in ROCH '06 (and also played Mu Renqing in Sword Stained With Royal Blood '07). But I think Anthony Wong will make a good HY, based on my limited exposure to him as Hu Yidao in Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain.

I like Ba Yin. I think it's great they're having a Mongolian play a Mongolian, and I like seeing actors play different parts. He reminds me a bit of Mako, who was another actor I really liked.

I didn't mind that little aside in ROCH - he didn't seem to be looking straight into the camera to me, and if I recall correctly in the book he actually makes a similar comment just to himself. I'm a little disappointed that his real voice doesn't sound like the voice that was dubbed for him in ROCH. I like that big voice they gave him.

i dunno most of the castings from lotch 03 and condor heroes doesn't seem to fit their roles well as the previous versions. i actually think the girls from 95 are way prettier then 06...only miscast is from lotch 94, girl play mu ni ci didn't seem right for her role but everyone else did well or at least fit descriptions one way or another. i like lyp and zx portrayal of guo jing and huang rong its just that version made guo jing seem more mentally disabled with his slow reactions etc. guo jing isn't dumb but innocent like cheung mo kei.

and i agree, last mei chou fong was hot...i remember someone saying later editions they made huang yoshi actually fell in love with chou fong reason why he always protected her most etc n people made fun of him or something like that. but this versions mei chou fong is more like 80 version, she's suppose to be scary lookin not hot...they should've used mei chou fong form 03 to play li mou chou in next if LGL makes ROTCh.

Having a "Mongolian play a Mongolian" doesn't necessarily make him a good actor as a Mongolian character.

It doesn't matter if Ba Jin said what was in the novel. It was the way he expressed it that lacked any true sense of character. I imagine it was meant as a little evil snicker comment to himself, but the way Ba Jin said it was like 'come hither and lets enjoy this party' (with wagging eyebrows and all).

It's true that having a person of the correct ethnicity doesn't necessarily make it better. But obviously I don't perceive Ba Yin's performance the same way that you do. (shrug)

Hey everyone! Was someone wishing for LOCH to be aired sooner? 'Cause I think you just got your wish!

LOCH will have its premiere (begin airing the series!) on July 19th in Xiamen (China). There is also a fanmeeting for LOCH on June 29th (in China), with Hu Ge and Ariel (and maybe some other cast?) attending (though Ariel's schedule may be tentative).

    Who's excited for LOCH?!! *dances*

No, I was talking about Mako Iwamatsu, a Japanese actor who worked in the US for many years and passed away last year.

Here's a link to clips from the recent LOCH promo (first of Hu Ge singing the insert theme song and a game, and second of Hu Ge, Ariel and fans doing a LOCH skit - haha, it's hilarious to see two guys playing Guo Jing and Huang Rong!)

If you watch nothing else, watch the second clip in the blog - it's too funny
