It was a deleted scene. It was the original take on the 'HR is a girl!' scene. Ariel insisted on doing the scene again because it the official scenes was done when she had slimmed down quite a bit. I personally don't find her face very chubby in this original scene, but I suppose it would've clashed with the slim-almost gaunt version of Ariel for other scenes.

oh they should have kept it...she didn't look they chubby. the boat was just floating there..look quiet nice..they should have kept some scene on the boat...heard ariel practise the gu zheng for that ...but they didn't keep it in the end..pitty.

They should not only have kept the scene, but really do it justice by incorporating the whole novel material in this instance. I don't think any version has done that. Unfortunate because the poem HR 'sings' to GJ in this part is very patriotic. It's sweet because on one layer, it's a bit like HR showing her favour in a subtle and traditional way - the way of a lady. At this point, I don't think HR truly knows how patriotic GJ is, so I'm not sure if it is pure serendipity that she chooses a patriotic poem to recite. On another level, GJ, even tho not educated enough to know the intracacies of the poem, somehow (this is how I understand from the mood of the novel mind you), can feel the patriotic 'sense' from the poem and have it further confirmed when HR explains to him what it means. Then of course, we have that superficial level where GJ is just admiring his very pretty 'Wong Xian Di' singing in an equally pretty voice to him, backdropped with beautiful scenery. I think this scene is also a crucial time when GJ is exposed to what patriotism means to him, in the initial stages anyhow.

Such a multi-purpose and meaningful scene...never to see the light of an adaptation.

yeah, but i remember in the trailer HR was asking GJ whether she was the prettiest girl he had ever seen and he was like, no. my mom's prettier. i was like, WHAT? lol cause i know in the original HR is supposed to be like, the prettiest girl GJ has ever seen, so that wouldnt have made any sense. but they couldve always redone it, i wouldve liked that scene. i remember it from the 03 version.

i'm finally watching this series now. it's not as bad as i thought it'd be. just the special effects was kind of over the top in places, but tolerable. i've got 5 more episodes to go and i'll be done. just wanted to add that i'm very fond of the actor who took yang kang's role. he's very good, at times i'd pity him then at times i'd hate him so much. the girl that took mnc's role is okay too. not the prettiest but she's still very cute to look at. ariel is perfect for this role. i've never doubted her cause she's known to take these bubbly roles all the time. so good job on her part, she's very convincing as a very intelligent person. hu ge on the other hand. i keep on wanting to cringe when he comes on screen. maybe it's because he's so skinny. no wonder they said ariel looked chubby, it's because her co-star is so skinny. he's supposed to be buff and strong, but when i see hu ge i just think anyone can pick on him. as for acting like a dumb person i guess he's okay. overall i give this series a 3.5 out of 5. almost a 4, but hu ge really made me cringe.

I just finished watching this. I can't believe they butchered YK's death. Might as well let the man live happily ever with his wife and kid since the man did repent.

Watching this now - Ouyang Ke has the most beautiful handmaidens in this serial of all the LOCH serials I've ever seen. It's a mercy you don't get to see any of them get killed (hate seeing beautiful extras being killed).

thats what i thought! what was the point of killing him at the end? i almost thought he wasnt going to die for a moment there.

That part was just so disturbing in so many ways for me. I can't believe Mu Nian Ci just stood inside watching YK die. Can they be any less dramatic? To top it off it was never even a scene but just a flashback told by Mu Nian Ci herself. Lame!

Its not like its some random death. OYH died differently? Who cares? But YK's death to me is so significant, I can't believe they changed it up. His death might be one of the most important scene in the story and it helps tie the knot leading to the story of ROCH.

i agree. she just stood inside there and cried! i was like, wtf?!

and YK death is significant! i mean, in loch YG was all bitter cause he thought HR killed his dad. how is that gonna happen if YK dies like that??

well you guys never thought that yk dying this way could lead to another new plot for rotch? i mean what if yk henchmen could lie to yg about who killed his parents etc. also yk told mnc not to do anything, n she's the type of girl who knows right from wrong, like a life for a life. reason why she was mad at yk all along for not killing his step dad.

also it gave yk more character development which alot of series don't have. you could say the cgi ain't that good but hey its a wuxia series n they had very very limited time. i don't care much but the series itself is good. good music, scenery, costumes, character development, fighting scenes are nicely choregraphed as well.

i actually encourage this co to make a sequel bc they give you that wuxia feeling tvb series from 2000 n under gave you. i mean they change alot of the script but it was actually good n not generic like most series i've seen from mainland china or taiwan.

also yk wanted to die since he too know whats right or wrong, he was basically waiting for oyf to come kill him since he accidently killed oyk.

First off he didn't accidentally kill OYK. It all went according to his plan. Only way OYF would accept him as a disciple is if his only disciple(OYK) died so YK plotted with MNC to kill OYK.

I agree with you though. There is alot to like about this series, the music is good, the characters were more developed. YK has so much more character in this version than any other version I have seen.

I really hate the ending though. Some of the script is ok to change, but not something as significant as the main character's death. A death that leads to the story of ROCH.

I guess if they make a brand new storyline for ROCH, then I'd be satisfied, but for now I'll be *****ing :P

well yeah yk did plan to kill oyk but if you remember when oyk found out mnc did go with the plan as well he finally realized she didn't love him so he was basically holding the knife with yk then push it into himself reason why yk n mnc was surprised.

I never watched the previous versions, so I dont know what they have changed in this version, so can someone tell me, compared with the original novel, what they have changed with the plot?

I mean, how YK died, does not fitt into the plot of ROCH. I thought he died because of getting poisenend or something else.

He's supposed to die at the temple after striking Huang Rong's soft armor, which still has traces of Ouyang Feng's venom on it.

As for the changes compared to the novel, don't get me started on that.

Yeah if you are a hardcore novelist...I would stay away from this version. There are a lot of changes from the actual novel...so pretty much if you plan on watching this...you have to put LOCH Novel in a lock box and throw away the key until after you finished the series...then and may be only then would you like the series...or at least manage to finish it.

I had a feeling about that so I will NOT be touching this series at all. I am SICK of remakes, especially ones that are NOT faithful to the novel or make unreasonable changes. I think that the only people would like this series are BIG fans of the cast that have never read the novel or have seen other versions that are more accurate. I am so shocked that JY actually allowed this version to be made if they have that many bad changes.
Respect other people's opinions and views. If we learn how to do that than all of these fights and arguments will not occur.
