The Celestial Duo Formation is one very complex yet powerful formation. Only people with high potential can learn this skill as the theory is very confusing, and the practical is dangerous if used incorrectly. Zhuang Kuen and Liu Xuan are very talented disciples on their island, hence they were taught this skill to protect Huai Suan.

Zhuang Kuen concentrates on strength whereas Liu Xuan concentrates on her agility. Liu Xuan would zip in and out of the formation, her sword poised to strike while Zhuang Kuen would create a powerful field of sword qi, trapping their enemy into the formation. During the formation, the two would have to coordinate flawlessly to cover up for their mate’s flaws. If the enemy used speed, Liu Xuan would fight speed with speed, while Zhuang Kuen would be the backup, and vice-versa.

Ling Yun Jian Xing instantly felt as though he was in an arena facing numerous army soldiers. Child’s play, he told himself, this formation is strong, but the users are not well trained in it yet, there are too many loopholes.

Liu Xuan dived in and out of the formation, zipping across everywhere as a blurry shadow. Funny, she told herself, where did Ling Yun Jian Xing disappear to? He was here a minute ago, and now he vanished, but never mind, I’ll…

She turned around a tree and found Ling Yun Jian Xing’s face millimeters away from hers. “Aaaargh!” She screamed, trying to retreat as fast as she could, but the distance between Ling Yun Jian Xing and hers still remained the same no matter how hard she try. Zhuang Kuen was equally shocked. Ling Yun Jian Xing was right in front of me a second ago, how did he manage to… He charged towards Ling Yun Jian Xing like an enraged bull, the sword aura around him was so intense the barks of trees tore off when he approached.

Ling Yun Jian Xing swung his blade right into the path of Zhuang Kuen’s sword, rendering the strike useless. Following that, he kicked Zhuang Kuen out of the way, the formation was instantly broken. Without Zhuang Kuen, Liu Xuan became as weak as before. Ling Yun Jian Xing swiped her sword away with his own sword, Liu Xuan’s sword flew into the air and landed feet away.

“Celestial Duo Formation Round 2!” Zhuang Kuen yelled.

Liu Xuan picked up her sword and walked to Ling Yun Jian Xing’s left while Zhuang Kuen went to his right. On the outside, it looked like an ordinary two-on-one battle, but actually, the Celestial Duo Formation became a notch stronger than before. Zhuang Kuen sliced to the left, Ling Yun Jian Xing jumped away to dodge it, providing an opportunity for Liu Xuan to jump onto Zhuang Kuen’s arms, waving her sword and turning in circles, creating a horizontal tornado.

Initially, their formation was to merge their skills into one person. Now, Ling Yun Jian Xing felt as though he was fighting two separate top martial arts exponents. Now matter what he did, his every strike will be countered by the two whose weaknesses had almost been completely removed. Their every strike looks like only one person, however every stance actually consists of two separate intents, each belonging to the different users.

The horizontal tornado Liu Xuan just created was merely a facade, intending to trick Ling Yun Jian Xing into countering Liu Xuan’s stances, while Zhuang Kuen would then use his own swordplay to parry Ling Yun Jian Xing’s counter-move. It is the same theory as when one fights off a wave, the other wave would come, and then the third, fourth wave would also come simultaneously; hence, the foe would be incapable of fighting off so many powerful strokes. The foe would also get exhausted easily.

After exchanging several stances, Ling Yun Jian Xing fully understood the concept of the formation. What a powerful formation, he thought, but pity the people who used it are weak. To break the formation he had to challenge the two at a time and defeat them immediately to prevent them from unleashing their strokes simultaneously.

Ling Yun Jian Xing dived into the formation. In an instant, more than ten silver streaks soared everywhere. Zhuang Kuen and Liu Xuan’s combined swordplay deflected each silver streak, as they moved in step by step towards Ling Yun Jian Xing, just when it looks like they will about to succeed, Ling Yun Jian Xing held Liu Xuan’s sword between his legs and made Zhuang kuen’s sword “stick” to his sword using internal energy. In an instant, he did a backflip, kicking Zhuang Kuen’s sword while knocking Liu Xuan’s sword away. The formation was hence broken again.

A scream tore out behind them. The scream belonged to the Kunlun disciple. Despite Zhuang Kuen and Liu Xuan’s “heavy” protection, Ling Yun Jian Xing eventually managed to kill the Kunlun disciple without them noticing.

How on earth did this guy managed to do it? Both wondered in shock. Now that all the Kunlun disciples had died, Ling Yun Jian Xing no longer cared about anything else, he glided away before the two could do anything.

“Trying to escape after killing somebody, dream on! Monster, get your desserts!” Liu Xuan roared. She leapt towards Ling Yun Jian Xing, her sword aimed right towards Ling Yun Jian Xing’s back. Ling Yun Jian Xing blocked her strike with ease and countered her snake-like swordplay by suddenly unleashing a series of silver meteors. These meteors were almost impossible to evade, they flew in every direction at quicksilver speed. Liu Xuan was known to be one of the fastest people on her island, but to dodge these attacks were entirely impossible.

Not entirely, though. A wild idea occurred to her as she flung herself in air, doing some sort of a silly pirouette-plus-ten-somersaults-in-all-directions on air, successfully dodging these sword qi flying all around her, but several strands of hair and pieces of fabric fell onto the floor, as proof of the lethality of Ling Yun Jian Xing’s sword qi. As Liu Xuan landed on the ground, she could no longer keep her balance after doing one of the world’s record-breaking acrobatic stunts, she fell onto the floor dizzily.

“How dare you injure junior Liu?” Zhuang Kuen yelled. His sword aiming towards Ling Yun Jian Xing’s back. Ling Yun Jian Xing turned abruptly; his sword knocked Zhuang Kuen’s away and aimed straight towards Zhuang Kuen’s heart. No matter how many pirouettes, somersaults Zhuang Kuen could do, he could not evade this blow as the sword was too fast and too close for comfort. At that precise moment, a hand gripped Zhuang Kuen’s shoulder, carrying him to safety. That movement was extremely fast, even Ling Yun Jian Xing was taken unawares.

    It was Bei Xing…

Li could not sleep. He was still very amazed by his master's display of martial arts. Finally, he couldn't take it anymore. Dressed in just his pants, Li went to inspect the bamboo trees his master had cut down.

Once Li got to the site, the events of earlier in the day, once again awed him. Never in his life had he felt such an abundant amount of qi. If that were to be the end result of his training, he couldn't even imagine how he would gain that much qi. Especially in the amount of time that his master had laid out.

“It's said that if one were to have very deep and profound qi, it would be very easy for him to hide it from others. And if your level of qi is high enough, you can make it seem as if you have no qi at all. That's why when master displayed his qi today, I was quite shocked...I never felt this amount of qi from him before...” mumbled Li as he looked on at the fallen trees.

Li gently slid his hand on the surface of the tree, where is had been cut.

“I can't understand it. It seems as if these trees were cut down down with a sword, but master had no sword.”

After pondering for a bit more, Li decided that it was time for him to sleep.

The messenger hurriedly said a few words to Xie Junh Liang. He smiled and nodded...
