John Woo to shoot new "Battle of the Red Cliffs"

This production has been rumored for a while, but just recently John Woo announced that well-known Taiwanese model and presenter Lin Chiling has accepted his invitation to play the female lead, the love interest of the famous Three Kingdoms general Zhou Yu. Although she has no previous acting experience Woo has said that he was interested in her for the role from the very beginning and is pleased with her screen test. The role of Zhou Yu is said to go to Chow Yun-Fat.

I read somewhere that Tony Leung was being considered for the role of famed Beijing Opera great .. Mei Lan Fong .. but his grandson, or some other blood relation objected due to the fact Tony's fingers were not " graceful " and long ..

Due to extensive pre-production needed for the large set pieces, shooting is not scheduled to begin until early next year, so it's gonna be a long time before any publicity shots become available.
