I am such a huge transformers fan myself!! Even though I wasn't there for the premiere of the series on tv I would continue watching the re-runs on tv in the early 90's, and then when I heard that the movie was coming out I was like AHHHHHH!!!! So then I got all into it again and watched the movie (which I heard they might use that soundtrack for the movie 2007) and the first season which my uncle is letting me borrow!!! YAY!!! Opitmus Prime is the best!! I heard that they are also using the story line of the beginning of the season, where the autobots and decipticons are fighting against each other, if that's true does anybody know if we are going to see any dinobots?? I LOVE GRIMLOCK!!! ^_^ YAY!! Can't wait can't wait!!!!

These transformer movies are signed on for a trilogy!! Which means obviously that there are going to be three movies!!! I'm so excited!!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!

WOW!! Bumble Bee, is that him?? COOL!! Is it true that they are making bumble bee into an old mustang car and not a slug buggy one, like from the series... I really liked the way he looked and all.. SLUG BUGGY!!!

Sorry for all of the questions, if anybody could answer them I'd really appreciate it!! Thank you! hehe ^_^

    JULY 7, 2007 folks!!

"Transformers! More than meets the eyes. Transformers! Robots in disguise. Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of the decipticons! Transformers!"
"We are in the land of the blindfolded
we cannot see what is going to happen
we can only wait for the future and what it brings"

the 'bots that will be starring in the upcoming live action movie (http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/726/726524p1.html)

of the robots, i've only recall Optimus, Bumblebee, Jazz, Megatron and Starscream.. (where's Soundwave?)

    Autobots

    Optimus Prime - "The king!"

Bumblebee - "He's the same underdog character we always knew and loved." [Note: Except he's a Camaro in the new movie.]

Jazz - "He's eager to take on the Decepticons."

Ratchet - "Ratchet, who was an ambulance in the cartoon, will appear in a new form."

Ironhide - "The muscle. A tough soldier who can make any Transformer bust an o-ring just with his stare!"

    Decepticons

Megatron - "He's been portrayed as pure evil but we're trying to get a little bit behind the evil in this movie. ... He has a slightly less idealistic version of what he thinks humanity is worth."

Starscream - "Always secretly plotting to dethrone Megatron..."

Brawl - "An extremely pissed off Decepticon."

Bonecrusher - "The closest thing to a Constructicon in the film."

Barricade - "The hunter of the group -- a cop car."

Scorpinok - "Closest thing to Beast Wars or Dinobot in the film."

Frenzy - "A smaller form able to infiltrate spaces -- a stealth spy."

Blackout - "The guy who takes out our ability to fight back."

In France, the commercial for the new Citroen C4 HDi has that car transforming into something like a Transformer Robot and skating on a frozen lake.

I am gay for Transformers! I hope this live version is better than the 1986 movie though. I finally saw that movie a few yrs ago and as an adult, I found the movie pretty stupid.

    Anyhoo, Autobots, roll out!

The film's Op seems to look more like the more recent versions.

i haven't seen any of the trailers, but i'm nostalgically anxious for this movie. i used to LOVE transformers. the only cartoons i loved more were ninja turtles and ghostbusters, but i digress. i saw the old movie only a few years ago, and i stopped after about 3 minutes. let's hope this one is totally awesome!

What!! No way, how can you guys not like the 1986 movie, it shows that you guys are not really transformers fans. Back in the 80's that film made lots of money and because of that film, Japan brought the copy rights to make their own transformer series. (Actually the movie it-self was made by the Japanese, if you check the names in the end its all Japanese.) I guess these days you guys are too spoil by CGI...."Sighs"

Who says a Transformers fan has to like the 1986 movie?

Eh? When did you get the information that the 1986 TF movie made a lot of money? It was a flop. It only made a gross of $5,849,647.
    http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/1986/0TRTM.php

Japan did not brought the right because of the movie. Japan has the rights to TF all along because TF are a collaboration between Hasbro and Takara. Japan imported and dubbed the American G1 cartoons because the cartoons are already available. They only started making their own TF cartoons when the American cartoon ended with Rebirth and Rebirth had only 3 episodes.

If Galvatron is in the sequels (if there are sequels), I hope he is not a mere recolour of Megatron like in the recent series.

Ok, i might have got my information wrong, mainly because I gather these information time to time from other people. After doing some researches myself, it seems that your information is false as well.

"who says a Transformers fan has to like the 1986 movie"?- well, then can you defined the word "fan"?? What is the point of being a fan when you do not like the subject and the plot?? The whole point of being a fan is because you are into it and will support it. Even though the movie was a flop, fans will still love the movie because of the new characters and events that is adding to the history of transformers, no matter if the story is bad or good. Of course you would not know that base on the way you critic this movie.

"Japan has the rights to TF all along because TF are a collaboration between Hasbro and Takara."--ha WRONG!!!!!!

Diaclone and MicroChange toys was the very first transforming toys that was discovered in 1983 Tokyo Toy Fair by Hasbro toy company product developer Henry Orenstein, who presented the concept to Hasbro's head of R&D, George Dunsay. Even though Takare produced Diaclone and MicroChange, the production of the series never took off. It was not until 1984 when Hasbro vice president Bob Prupis approached Marvel to develop their new robot series called "Transformers." Of course Hasbro then gather famous Japanese designer such as Syouhei Kohara to design characters for the early transformers.

The first 3 part series animated by Japan's Toei Animation studio. In the 1985, Hasbro decided to expand their title and joint ToyCo , ToyBox. Takatoku and Takare Toys for their toy design and productions.

Finally, in 1987 Hasbro lost the funds that would allow it to continue of the series. The series was brought to a close in November of 1987 with the airing of the fourth season, which consisted solely of a three-part story entitled "The Rebirth." Penned by regular series writer Dave Wise, introduced the Headmasters and Targetmasters. Even though Hasbro no longer produce Transformers, Takara, one of the joint toy company of the Transformers toyline "brought the full rights" from Hasbro to continue on the Transformers universe in Aug of 1988. And after the end of HeadMaster Takara stated their own Transformers story line Masterforce and Transformers Victory...ect.

I've seen that phrase tossed across this newsgroup countless times.
Every time, it disgusts me. Unlike some people, I don't feel this paranoid
McCarthyist urge to divide the world into the black-and-white division of
holy and good "True Fan" and evil "Not Fan" based on my own personal
    preferences of the TF universe.

What is a TF fan? As far as I'm concerned, a fan is anybody who holds
an interest in the aesthetic aspects of TFs... someone who cares for MORE
than a TF's resale value. Someone who enjoys the IDEA. ANY part of that
    idea
. I know plenty of people whose only interest in TFs is selling them.
Does that bug me? Hell no, I deal with these people every weekend. If
anything, that prevents them from saving the cooler ones for themselves.
No skin off my back. (Go re-read the section on toy dealer comparisons if
you want to. The guys I'm talking about here fall into the latter
    category.)

And guess what folks. "Fan" encompasses a WIDE range of interests AND
    dislikes.
I am SO SICK of seeing messages like "Anybody who likes/doesn't
like (Fill In TF Subgroup of Choice Here) isn't a true fan!", and "You
don't know what (Fill In The Blank) is? You can't be true fan!", and that
ilk. "True Fan" is a bullshit term used by insecure, narrow-minded people
acting holier-than-thou, trying to make themselves feel better by putting
themselves up on the "True Fan" pedestal while kicking others off. There
is no such thing as a "True Fan". There is only "Fan". Any measurement of
fandom is arbitrary and personal AT BEST. What you know, what you own, or
what individual aspects of TFs you like does NOT define whether one is a
"Fan" or not, and frankly, doesn't make anybody a bigger or better fan
    than anybody else
. Quit thinking that trivia and collection size equals
penis length. (Apologies to the female TF fans out there, but you know
what I mean.) I don't care if you could rattle off every tech-spec from
memory BACKWARDS, myself. I don't care if you own every TF ever made,
including rare prototypes. I don't care if you could act out for me every
episode of the American and Japanese cartoons, including the voices.

Anyone who hates/likes Beast Wars or Machine Wars is a TF Fan.

Anyone who hates/likes Action Masters, MicroMasters, Pretenders, or
any other generally disliked subgroup is a TF Fan.

Anyone who likes G1 but doesn't know what G2, BW or MW *is* is a TF
    Fan.

Anyone new to TFs who only knows BW is a TF Fan.

Anyone who likes G1 but doesn't know anything about the Japanese or
European lines is a TF Fan.

Anyone who only likes the first two years of G1 toys is a TF Fan.

Anyone who likes the toys but knows jack about the cartoon/comic
    fiction is a TF Fan.

Anyone who doesn't care about ANY of the toys but enjoys the
    cartoon/comic is a TF Fan.

Anyone who only likes the first two seasons of the G1 cartoon is a TF
    Fan.

Anyone who only likes the comic is a TF Fan.

Anyone who thinks the Decepticons have got it right is a TF Fan.

Anyone who doesn't like the way any of the fiction went but likes the
    characters is a TF Fan.

Do you see where I'm going with this? Possessions and trivia don't
enter into it. Personal likes/dislikes don't enter into it. Those are
ASPECTS of TF Fandom, they don't DEFINE it.
That "TF Fan Purity Test" of
Diana's is a JOKE, people. (I'm dead certain she'll back me up on this.)
It is meant to provide amusement. NOT to be used as a measuring stick.

I've been on this newsgroup for years. And there have been many
others on it before I was. Some may know more about the whole TF universe,
some may write fanfics or other TF-related documents, but they are no
"better" fans than some lurker or somebody who just joined last week. So
anybody who's been holding back on posting because they're afraid of being
stomped on by some almighty TF clique, stop worrying. Post away. Give us
your questions! We're here to help and encourage and share, godsdammit!

I got nothing against you Convoy, its just that I grow up in the 80's and Transformers were my favor cartoon and ever since them I have been collecting Comic, Movie, Toys, and mostly transformer series. Its just when I hear people says that Transformers is not good or suck....etc, I would of course stand and fight for my favor subject. You would do the same if someone put down your favor subject, its a human sense that is all. But thanks to you I did my research and learned the true about the Transformers.

I don't like the 1986 movie doesn't mean I don't like Transformers. Like you, I also grew up in the 1980s and it was my favourite cartoon back then. I'm still watching the new cartoons, buying the new toys, new comics, dvds, etc. But I know and can accept that the Transformers are not perfect, and it is alright if somebody doesn't like any aspect of it. For eg., I like the Armada cartoon, but I know it has its weaknesses and many people don't like it. That's okay. Such diversity is part of the fandom. Some like this, some like that, some like everything, but nobody is a better fan than anybody else.
