And it was really cheesy with the Greek Gods feeding on the love of the people thing. I understand this is a remake, but I still take issue with it. I mean Zeus acts like an insecure bully. Zeus from the pantheon could atleast inspire fear into everyone. This one wasn't a raging sex machine like pantheon Zeus is either.
    Ok. Thanks for sharing.

And why is Hades always copping the blame. The ruler of the underworld doesn't always have to be evil and despicable.
Alright, give me some time. I'll plan and script an animation with a story of evil heavenly beings because they ran amok and good Hades saves the day, just for you!
What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!

I don't care to sit by the window on an airplane. If I can't control it, why look?

If I remember correctly, the original CotT's Zeus was quite a cool chap - it was his wife Hera (a much-younger-but-who-yet-looked-old Maggie Smith) who was the main antagonist, and Zeus had to play fair and let everyone do their bit. In the end he was really smug that Perseus won, and warned that nobody was to pursue the matter further anymore.

From the trailer, Liam Neeson's Zeus didn't look like he had any of the charm and class which Laurence Olivier's had.

This one did not make any use of the rich pantheon of Greek Gods. You see Apollo pipe in then get shut up from time to time. Or else it's just Hades and Zeus, the others just stood there to look pretty.

Kabe Otoko (Wall Man) - what a weird movie. I'm not sure I understand the ending completely.
    click to show/hide spoilers
Was it all a dream IN reality with Wall Man watching them all along?

Climber's High - I liked it, but the part where Yuki went to see his son at the end
    click to show/hide spoilers
and then just left was frustrating.

Seven Samurai - a bit too lengthy, but I liked the dual-layered ending (grim as it was)

I had recently seen "14 BLADES". A thrilling action pact movie. “14 Blades” is the one I’ve been anticipating the most. It stars Donnie Yen in his usual Donnie Yen role – a tough-as-nails martial arts fighter with few if any equals. Set in Ancient China, the film has Yen playing Qinglong

Saw How to Train Your Dragon. Fun movie. But can they for once make a movie where the kid doesn't have to be someone without backbone. Let the kid be straight out bad *** for once.

Not Hera. Thetis. Hera was fairly marginal. Though - to me - EVERYONE except Bubo is marginal in CotT - and Perseus is just a sidekick...
I love the movie. It's one of those films I grew up with and I'd take Harryhausen's phenomenal stop-motion animation over bad CGI any day...
BTW - funny as it is, my favorite god in the original film was actually Poseidon...:-) He didn't get to do much, but I loved those underwater scenes with him releasing the Kraken.

(Just read the synopsis for the new CotT on IMDb... Sounds pretty retarded... But maybe I'll give it a shot.)

    Just saw Kick ***.
Fun movie, but not as great as everyone is making it out to be.
Probably because I was more surprised at the violence and fake blood to catch the humour of it.

Yes, I also don't like that in Hollywood movies, Hades is often given the bad guy role. It's such a Christian thing Underworld = Hell, Hades = Satan. That's why I don't like the cartoon Hercules. Zeus and Hera are made out to be a paragon of virtue while Hades is made the main villain.

Which is a shame, Greek pantheon is rarely that one dimensional. The gods were more human than embodiments of good and evil. Zeus was a jealous lecherous old man. If you didn't annoy him, or stir his loins, he's quite righteous. Hera is just a *****, but what can be expected from the kind of issues you would get from having your brother for a husband who killed your father and cheats on you.
Apollo is the god of order and reason, but even he's an arrogant sonofa*****. Even Athena and Artemis, so revered, never miss an opportunity to flex their vanity and jealousy.
Hades is just a bitter somber and brooding dude, what you get when you work with dead people all day. But he was nice to Orpheus.

Haha, indeed, but isn't that the reason why we all love Greek mythology so much? They were all very human, and easy to relate with, which makes them fascinating. I guess they all had problems in their own way....the only real nice one was Hestia, which is probably why she got delegated to tending the hearth for the rest of the punks.

Which is why it's even more of a travesty that they couldn't make a good movie from it. And to name it Clash of the Titans when all it boils down to is Perseus, Zeus and Hades.

I heard there might be a movie adaption of the Oddysey, I hope they don't screw it up. Oddyseus is my favourite of the heroes.

i think Hephaestus is nice. just that no one likes him bc he's hideously ugly. and hermes is pretty nice, too. and dionysus. good drinking buddy.

this weekend, i watched red cliff (1), ninja assassin, and the informant, kinda.

i liked red cliff. it was cool, especially since i had stopped reading three kingdoms right after this part. if i had stopped beforehand, i wouldn't know what the heck was going on.

ninja assassin was all right. the fighting and bloodiness was awesome, but the plot and dialogue were so bad. the stylized violence actually reminds me a lot of spartacus, but sadly, the writing is so much worse. bi has a really girly face, but boy was he ripped!

i fell asleep during the informant. the parts i did wake up for weren't that interesting to me.

The Elephant Man - poor John (Joseph)

King of Masks - good movie, but the best part was the monkey

Dancer in the Dark - I'm probably one of the few who disliked this movie and found it really overrated. Maybe Bjork and I are just not on the same wavelength.

Sophie's Choice - that's one choice I doubt I'd ever be able to make

I'm surprised only you mentioned this movie. This is a funny movie.

Who doesn't thought of or wanted to be a superhero in their lives before? And Hit-Girl is just too awesome for a kid. Chloe Moretz is so cute. She will be a real beauty in the future.
