Default Miejue shi-tai, the nun of Absolute Annihilation

Who gave her the name "miejue"? Did her teacher do that, or did she name herself that? It is hard to imagine any teacher to give such a ruthless name to her student.

When it comes to killing, she doesn't mess around. I guess that's how she got the name. Plus, she is the type that would kill first then ask questions later.

I thought teachers give people those names. Do these names change if one becomes the head of sect?

Maybe the name means 'anihilate extreme tendency'? Buddhism's core teaching is moderation.

Maybe that's right. Maybe her sifu gave her that title because she thought that this little biatch was too extreme and needed to take a chill pill. In any case, that's not what Miejue thought her title meant. When ZWJ was about to take her 3 palms, he asked her if she could have some Buddhist mercy and let the Ming cultists go, she asked him what her title was? He said "Mie at the top, Jue at the bottom" (the top-bottom Chinese writing style). She replied "Yes, Absolute Annihilation. I swore to destroy the Demon cult and would never stop until I have killed all demons. The two words Mie and Jue in my title aren't there for nothing!"

    She's a crazy butch.

Often she don't even ask questions as she has answered them already herself ie. they are evil = must die.

    Thanks Candide.

The question still remains: who gave her that name.

(yeah I know, Jin Yong did so conveniently. But I want to make some sense out of it logically).

i was always under the impression tat it was a name she fostered for herself.

i believe when she took the position as head of sect, she was so consumed by her hatred for the 'evils' that she swore her vengence, even in her name. i always found she was always on of the best named character in all of the wuxia stories i read. very meaningful.

Diet means 'to rid of', show how death seems to be her logical answer to everything. she choose her death over a dept to an evil.

Tuyet means 'to the ends', basically. showing her extream side. nothing is half measures with her. everythign she does she does to the end.

so to answer ur question, i don't know for a fact, but i was under the impression from the novel that although the name was bestowed to her by her elders, but it was a name she choose.

She most probably gave it to herself. I doubt her teacher or her elders would be that mean to screw her over with such a bad-a$$ name with such "sha-qi". She is a nun after all. Her original name could've been Tiffany for all we know.

To her, they are just like Al Qaeda's fighters or Isis's fighters. They are all terrorists. Therefore, they must die for the sake of humanity.
