Who do you think is the worst mother in JY canon?

Some of the bad mothers I can think of are the following.

Mothers who spoiled their kids rotten
Huang Rong
Min Rou
Bao Xi Ruo

Mothers who abandoned their kids
Hu Fei's mom
Li Wen Xiu's mom
Yin Su Su
Miao Ruo Lan's mom

Mothers who taught their kids weird notions
Mu Wan Qing's mom

Killed their own kids
Madam Ma

Any other?

I personally think Li Wen Xiu's mom the worst. She left her daughter with a horse and committed suicide. Yeah, the white horse supposely very loyal and can sense danger and stuff, but it's still an animal.

Btw, I think the super annoying Min Rou is also up there on top of the worst mom list. She totally spoilt Shi Zhong Yu, but when her husband pointed this out she go and cried "You blame me for spoiling Yu-er rotten? Boo hoo hoo." And she kept on making excuses for SZY.

If Huang Rong is a bad mother, how come Guo Xiang turn out different from Guo Fu? Did HR and GJ learn from their mistake of spoiling Guo Fu too much?

Yes. I do think Huang Rong learned from mistake and raised her twins differently from the way she raised Guo Fu. She's much more stricter with the twins. But some still think she's a bad mother because she's too strict to her twins.

I have considered her too. Yeah, she's pretty warped as a person on the whole. She's like Li Mo Chou, killing innocent people because she's dump by her man. But how is she as a mother alone?

Not great, if I remember correctly. Under normal circumstances, Madame Wong was mainly just cold and distant to her daughter. I do kind of remember from DGSD '81 (it's been many years since I've watched it) that if push came to shove, Madame Wong was willing to sacrifice her own daughter to get at the people she hated.

Yes, she's bad. But I don't think she considers Shi Po Tian her son and she's not his biological mother. So, I didn't put her on the list.

yes, she committed suicide after Hu Fei's father died, and basically abandoned her child, even after promising her husband that she would look after him

i don't believe Yin Su Su should be up there with the crowd. i always thought it was right for her to commited suicide. she did cause the death of her husband and the crippling of her husband martial brother. she committed suicide to atone for her sins and to free her son from the moral bagage of being the son of a 'villian' to the sect.

how would ZWJ feel whenever his around the WuDang clan if his mother was still alive? it was only with her death could the dept be paid.

none of the mothers really stood out to me as extreamly evil or very bad...except for DGSD. now i thought every single mother in there was bad. the most unselfish mother would be the monks mother. for all her killing she was the only one who loved her child above all else. her death was same as the death of Yin Su Su, partly to protect her son from revenge quest from others for being her son.

yes, but i think if we venture further into this, we will end up having a moral debate over the right to suicide. in terms of a bad mother, i think that leaving a young boy alone in the world is probably not the best decision, however again, i can support that decision because it is her right, only that it seems irresponsible of her, considering her son. Same goes for HF's mum, and HF was very young when that happened.
