I liked the original Matrix. I think it was becuz of the slow motion dodging bullets effect and Neo vs. Morpheus fight in the sparing program. The movie concept seem original to me.
Rain Man was nice. I like Dustin Hoffman character cuz he was funny, interesting, smart (like his special ability), and unique.

A Beautiful Mind and Catch Me If You Can are my favorites.

Ones I didn't like: Matrix Reloaded (only like the Architect talk part with Neo), Hero (beautiful scenery, costumes, special effects but repetitive), and that's all I can think of right now LOL.

Starwars (Lucas was inspired by a Kurosawa [The Hidden Fortress] but then ends up making a longggg chain of movies? I despise prequels. One was enough.) , Matrix Reloaded, Titanic (I can't believe I could sit though that titanic [length wise] movie, I don't see what is so great about it for it to win like 14 Oscars.), Gladiator, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (should be renamed: "My First Wuxia for Westerners" They saw Wuxia for the first time, I see why they may be fascinated. However it wins about 5 Oscars??), Scary Movie (uh they are going to come out with a 3rd??? Who is watching this thing and giving them a reason to make them? Some find them funny, but one was more than enough), Spiderman. Virtually anything mainstream and over-patriotic smuck (Oh look America is saving the World, the Universe, and your country again ~_~).

I think you forgot the subject here. It's about movies that you didn't like but others did and the only people who liked "Battlefield Earth" were Scientologists.

Maybe you didn't saw it when it first came out and while you were a kid. When I first saw it, I was like 8 and to me, it was the greatest movie ever. So much that I saw it at least 3 times in the theater. I have rewatched it since and personally, I still think that E.T. is amazing. For a kid movie, it is extremely dark and uncharacteristic. It is so different than any other kid movies I've seen. It has some pretty bad language and the family is not this perfect American family but has a single mother who can't really control her kids. In a typical kid movie, the character of Peter Coyote would surely be a stereotypical bad guy but not in this case. The man wanted to get to the alien but he truly thought that what he was doind was the good thing to do and he really cared for Elliot. E.T. is a work of genious IMO.

The big deal about "Star Wars" is that back in 1977, nobody had ever seen anything like it before. It was truly revolutionary with the special effects and all. Although "Star Wars" was fun, "The Empire Strikes Back" was the much better movie and to this day, it's one of my favorite movies of all time.

I'm ditto with Canuck21 about ET and Starwars.

First impression is really matter... especially as a kid amaze with science fiction stories. ET makes me like Drew Barrymore despite her funny faces and Starwars makes me love Leia hair (not anymore... ) I like the cast of the old starwars than the new one. it was flawless.. and Harrison Ford...

I hate Spiderman, I hate Daredevil, after watching I wish I was blind so I don't have to see anything like it again. I hate Titanic, why can't they all die.

Movies I like but my friends hate are, Half Baked, Down to Earth and Head of State.
    After Hours - Velvet Underground

"Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" - boring, not much of a storyline, people flying around on the big screen makes me dizzy...bad, bad mandarin!!! Much too hyped up for it's own good, I went to the toilet halfway through, came back and realised in the time I had gone, absolutely NOTHING had happened whatsoever!!! Last of all, what's it with everyone carking it?

"Hero" - okay, save the last 15 mins for this one! I absolutely LOVED the last 15 mins!!! It was perfect cinema, so beautiful, and so nicely crafted! However, the 2 hours before that...blah!!! I started thinking the whole point of the movie was to show us how people can fight in different coloured costumes and areas...

"Matrix“- I don't not like this movie, but not as much as other people like this movie...it wasn't as good as all that, and kinda confusing...I still haven't seen the second one and am not anxious at all...

"Titanic" - just kept thinking "when is this ship gonna sink for gosh sakes!" That was how much this "love story" was moving me...most exciting part had to be when this guy jumped off the ship with hopes of landing in the sea...he ended up landing with a "doink" onto the large propeller on the ship...hilarious! ^_^

Odd, I thought the American remake wasn't as good as the original. Maybe you missed something. If you miss something, it might become confusing. Try looking at this website for a very in depth FAQ: http://ringworld.somrux.com

Same feeling here. I was so anxious to see the boat sink. The movie would have been much better if they skipped the cheezy love story. And the "I'm the king of the WORLD!" made me cringe. I was embarassed for James Cameron.
