The "despicable" character I felt most sorry for isn't on your poll. It's Sung Ching Sheu from HSDS. He didn't start off evil. In fact, he had a lot early promise, and seemed quite noble and brave when he first appeared. His first "sin" was basically lusting after Chow Chi Yerk, and from there, one bad decision after another became his undoing. He had a pitiable ending, and not to say he completely did not deserve punishment for his errors, but he suffered much more than patently more evil people in HSDS who got away scot free.

Surprisingly, TVB has left Sung Ching Sheu's martial arts development over the course of HSDS relatively untouched. All he got towards the end of the story were some *really* watered down 9 Yum White Bone Claws that weren't even enough to seriously bother his Mo Dong second "uncle" Yu Lin Chou.

You know, I once read the words of an expert which expressed his inability to understand why anyone could possibly feel sorry for Lin Pingzhi. Well, this poll has revealed a lot of sympathy for the little homie who bears my surname.

Song Qingshu getting the entire 9 Yin Zhen Jing and somehow speed-mastering it for a dramatic final battle with ZWJ? Sure, bring it on. It can't be that much worse than the recent HSDS adaptation where SQS used XL18Z and, IIRC, flaming dragons came out of his hands. But then again having flaming dragons come out of your hands isn't a big deal in HSDS 2003 because that's the adaptation where every time two powerful people fight they teleport to another dimension with swirling lights or a giant book rotates in the background. Besides, if ZZR can just have 9 Yin White Bone Claws and fight 1 on 1 with a Du monk indefinitely, it's not too much to stretch things even further.

Maybe because he Killed an innocent girl who was the only person that genuinely cared about him. She was extremely sweet and nice to him, and he repayed her by stabbing a sword into her skin, for a really stupid reason too. And to top it off, he used her from the start. His actions are unforgivable.

What choice did the poor guy have. He didn't have the luck to find a Jade Statue or get a free Inner power transfer or a cave with kung-fu or an ape with a manual or a friendly bird to teach him or find a benevolent kung fu master.

He is no saint, but he was really pushed to it by the way his family was treated. Blind, crippled, castrated and imprisoned in a dungeon for the rest of his life. Any 1 of the 4 is already suitable punishment for what he did. He got all 4!

How about the Jet Li version where the Heaven Sword shoots out energy beams that seem to hit across 10 zhang. It could really tear up the place!

What choice did the poor guy have.

He could have easily avoided not killing his wife. Talk about nobody caring about him, there was one person who always cared about him. It's simply heartbreaking that she still cared about him more than her life, even after he stabbed her for the stupidest reason ever.

i feel sorry for lady yang(HSDS). barely any screentime. actaully i feel for yin zhenbing. a basically good guy who did a very bad thing. and if he wasn't a damm preist who knew suprisingly alot about the 'bird and the bees', he might have approched XLN in a proper manner. would have gotten rejected but still, he might not have raped her. killed himself at first rejection. maybe.

Ahh, "Evil Cult". Where "Master No-mercy" can take out all 7 Wudang Heroes in 1 swipe of the Heaven Sword and kill like 30 Ming Cult members by spinning around in a circle. I rate the latter feat more impressive than ZWJ's ability to shoot blue fireballs with considerable explosive radius. Although the part where he was using telekinetic punches and kicks to beat on Ming Cult members was cool.

My favourite part of the movie was when Z3F grabbed the sword from her and b!tch slapped her while cursing away. The Samo Hung Z3F was really memorable. I loved the way he challenged the whole assembled lot at Wudang to fight it out with him.

Yes, this version of Z3F is extremely cool. Compensates for the rest of the movie.

Although it was also an interesting scene when ZWJ showed up at Zhao Min's Green Bamboo Villa and apparently caused an earthquake with Qiankun Danuoyi (or in this case Keen Kwun Da Noi Yee / "Magic Stance"). Cool telekinetic pwning of Zhao Min's guards though.

For the record, I have no idea why I didn't include GUO FU in the list of "should she or should she not be pitied"?

Also for the record, I guess if Ah Zi is to be pitied, there's no reason Lin Pingzhi wouldn't deserve one too. I personally pitied him all along; it's just that some experts think he doesn't deserve any.

According to the novel, Mei Fanggu was better than Min Rou in just about every field. To name a few: in terms of martial arts, literature, sewing, and cooking, Mei Fanggu was described to be far superior.

Ladies and gentlemen: I believe we have a winner. The most unsympathetically hated character (at least among the choices in this poll) in the Jin Yong universe, who didn't even receive one vote of sympathy from any of the readers so far, worse than Madam Ma, Ah Zi, and Yang Kang, is none other than old nun Miejue.

Of course, if I included Gongsun Zhi, Cheng Kun, Zhao Zhijing, Tian Guinong, Ding Chunqiu... the result might be different.
